A ZipBy LLC charge on your credit card is almost always a parking payment. ZipBy is an app-based system that handles entry, exit, and payment at garages, gated lots, and some on-street metered zones, and it bills under its own name rather than the name of the lot where you parked.1ZipBy. ZipBy Home If the charge is wrong, contact ZipBy first, and dispute it through your card issuer if that doesn’t work.
Why the Charge Doesn’t Match the Parking Lot
ZipBy replaces paper tickets and pay stations. At a gated facility, a driver taps a button in the app to raise the gate on the way in, parks, and taps again to leave. Payment runs automatically against the card on file, and a receipt is emailed after the session closes.1ZipBy. ZipBy Home Because ZipBy processes the payment, the line item on your statement reads “ZipBy LLC” instead of the garage’s name.
The system runs at facilities in the United States, Canada, and Australia. Known U.S. sites include several Harvard University garages such as 52 Oxford Garage, Broadway Garage, and Soldiers Field Park Garage,2Harvard Transportation. How to Dispute the Charge With Your Card Issuer
If ZipBy won’t resolve it, dispute the charge with your bank. Federal rules generally give you 60 days from the date the charge appears on your statement to notify the card company of a billing error, and the issuer can then pull the funds back from the merchant while it investigates.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Common ZipBy Billing Problems
Complaint volume is low. The Better Business Bureau lists four complaints against ZipBy over the last three years, and the company is not BBB accredited.7Better Business Bureau. ZipBy BBB Profile The issues that do come up cluster around a few situations.
Double charges are the most common. One consumer reported being billed twice after the system read the wrong license plate; a ZipBy representative told them to pay again and submit both receipts for a refund, then refused the refund.8Better Business Bureau. ZipBy BBB Complaints Another consumer was charged by ZipBy at a Washington, D.C. garage where they had already paid the facility in person, and in that case ZipBy did refund the money.
App Store reviews describe similar patterns: duplicate charges after driving through a gate more than once, “open sessions” that stayed open for days, and pre-paid sessions overridden by elapsed-time charges when the app confused two nearby lots. Several reviewers said a discounted rate switched to a full daily rate without warning.9Apple App Store. ZipBy App Reviews Slow or unresponsive customer support is a recurring theme in the same reviews, including non-working phone numbers and long email waits. If any of this matches your situation, document it before you contact your bank.
How to Remove Your Card or Delete Your Account
To stop future ZipBy charges, remove the card from the app. ZipBy’s instructions are to go to Payments, then Payment Types, tap the card, and choose “delete.”5ZipBy. ZipBy Support You may have to add a second card before the app allows you to remove the first one.10ZipBy. ZipBy Functionalities To delete the account itself, open the Settings menu inside the app and use the account-deletion option.
Some users have said the app would not let them remove a card and that the company did not answer their emails. Two BBB complaints in 2024 described this problem, and both were closed as “Unpursuable” because the BBB could not locate the business to follow up.8Better Business Bureau. ZipBy BBB Complaints If deletion inside the app fails, ask your card issuer to block future charges from the merchant while you continue to pursue removal.
