Zazzle Charge: Why It Appears, How to Stop It, and Refunds

A “Zazzle” charge on your credit card is almost always a $19.95 annual renewal for Zazzle Plus, the company’s paid shipping-discount membership. If you see a Zazzle charge on your credit card and don’t remember signing up for anything, it most likely traces back to a free 30-day trial you accepted during checkout on a past order. The trial converts automatically to a paid yearly membership unless you opt out before it ends, and it then renews every year on the same date without further notice.1Zazzle. Zazzle Plus2Zazzle. If your charge is $49.95 instead, that’s the Zazzle Plus Premium tier, which works the same way.1Zazzle. Zazzle Plus

Why You Don’t Remember Signing Up

Zazzle presents the Plus opt-in inside the checkout summary alongside the product, tax, and shipping lines. The trial is free, so nothing hits your card at the time, and the first real charge arrives roughly a year later when most people have long forgotten the order.

There’s also a common technical reason the subscription seems invisible. If you used Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature at checkout, or signed in with a different method than you normally use, Zazzle created a secondary account tied to that email. When you later log in to your usual account looking for the subscription, you don’t find it, and the charge looks unauthorized even though it isn’t.3Better Business Bureau. Zazzle Inc. Complaints

How to Stop Future Charges

Log in to Zazzle, open “My Account,” and select “Zazzle Plus Settings.” On that page, click “Do not auto renew.”4Zazzle Community. Cancel Zazzle Plus That’s the full cancellation; your membership runs out the rest of the paid year and does not renew again.

If those settings aren’t there, the subscription is probably attached to a different account. Check every email address you might have used at checkout, including any Apple relay addresses. If you still can’t find it, contact Zazzle through the Returns and Order Resolution Center. Zazzle asks for alternate email addresses or billing addresses to locate the account, and in cases where it can confirm ownership it will manually disable auto-renew for you.3Better Business Bureau. If you paid through PayPal, you can also kill the recurring payment on PayPal’s side. In PayPal, open Settings, then Payments, then “Subscriptions and saved businesses,” and unlink Zazzle.5PayPal. How Do I Report an Unauthorized Transaction or Account Activity

Can You Get a Refund?

Usually, no. Zazzle’s Plus terms say the company does not refund any portion of the membership fee after a renewal has been charged. The only built-in exception is when Zazzle itself terminates the membership, in which case it may issue a prorated refund for the remaining months.6Zazzle. Zazzle Plus Terms and Conditions

In practice, some customers have received a “courtesy” refund after complaining. Zazzle treats these as discretionary and has denied them when it finds the customer used member benefits such as shipping discounts during the subscription year. Its standard position in complaint responses is that the onus is on the customer to read the terms accepted at checkout.3Better Business Bureau. Zazzle Inc. Complaints

Disputing the Charge With Your Card or PayPal

If Zazzle won’t refund and you believe you were never clearly told you were enrolling, you can dispute the charge with the company that moved the money. For a credit card, call the number on the back of your card and ask to dispute the transaction. The issuer will investigate, request evidence from Zazzle, and decide, typically within 60 to 90 days.7Square. What Is a Chargeback You generally have up to 120 days from the transaction date to file.

For PayPal, open the Resolution Center on paypal.com or use “Report a Problem” in the app to file an unauthorized transaction report. PayPal usually responds within 10 days.5PayPal. How Do I Report an Unauthorized Transaction or Account Activity

Keep copies of every cancellation attempt, email, and chat transcript. The FTC recommends saving that paper trail because it strengthens a dispute, and you can also report the charge at ReportFraud.ftc.gov or to your state attorney general.8Federal Trade Commission. If You Sell on Zazzle, It Might Be a Different Fee

One other charge gets confused with the Plus membership, and it only applies if you have a Zazzle designer account. If your creator account hasn’t published a public product or produced a referral sale in 15 months, Zazzle marks it “non-contributing” and deducts $2 per month from any earnings balance in the account. The fee can’t push your balance below zero and is not charged to an outside card or bank. Publishing a new product or generating a referral sale stops it.9Zazzle. Non-Contributing Account Fees If the charge on your credit card statement is $19.95 or $49.95, this isn’t it; you’re looking at Zazzle Plus.
