Where to Find Your eBay Tax Documents: 1099-K

Your eBay tax documents live in Seller Hub under the Payments tab. From there you can generate your Form 1099-K (if eBay issued one) and download detailed transaction reports covering gross sales, fees, and refunds for any date range. If you prefer the older interface, the same forms are reachable through My eBay. Both routes pull from the same records.

Downloading Your 1099-K From Seller Hub

The fastest path is through Seller Hub. Open the Payments tab, select Taxes from the left-hand menu, choose 1099-K Details, and click Generate to create the downloadable report.1eBay. eBay and Form 1099-K

If you’re working from My eBay instead, go to the Payments section, scroll to Payment Reports and Taxes, select Form 1099-K, and request the detailed report.1eBay. eBay and Form 1099-K

For either path to produce a form, your taxpayer information has to be on file and correct. Your name and Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number need to match what’s on your federal return. If there’s a mismatch, eBay may withhold a percentage of your earnings until you fix it.

Pulling a Transaction Report

The 1099-K is a single gross-payments figure. For the line-by-line detail most sellers actually need at tax time, download a transaction report. It shows the gross amount of each sale, the fees eBay deducted, and the net that reached your bank account.2eBay. How to Use the Payments Tab in Seller Hub

To get one, open the Payments tab in Seller Hub, select Reports from the left-hand menu, scroll to Financial Documents, and click Create Report next to Transaction Reports. Pick your date range and report type, then generate the file.2eBay. How to Use the Payments Tab in Seller Hub The download is a CSV, so it opens in any spreadsheet program and imports into most tax software.

This is the report to use when reconciling your 1099-K against your bank deposits. Because the 1099-K reports gross payments before eBay’s fees come out, it will almost always be higher than what actually hit your account. The transaction report itemizes every fee and adjustment so the two numbers can be matched.

When the Form Becomes Available

eBay must make your 1099-K available by January 31 of the year following the tax year it covers.3Internal Revenue Service. Understanding Your Form 1099-K The digital version tends to appear in Seller Hub on or before that date.

eBay defaults to electronic delivery. If you want a paper copy in the mail, you can opt out of paperless delivery through your account settings or by contacting eBay customer support. Paper copies go to the address on your account, so confirm it’s current before year-end. Mailed forms can take extra days to arrive after January 31, so if you’re filing early, pull the digital copy from Seller Hub while the paper version is in transit.

Whether eBay Will Send You a 1099-K at All

Not every seller gets one. eBay is required to issue a 1099-K when your account crosses the federal threshold of $20,000 in gross payments and more than 200 transactions during the calendar year. Both conditions have to be met.4Internal Revenue Service. IRS Issues FAQs on Form 1099-K Threshold Under the One Big Beautiful Bill

If you followed the news about a $600 threshold, here’s the short version. Congress passed that lower figure in 2021, the IRS phased it in with transitional amounts ($5,000 for 2024, $2,500 for 2025), and later legislation reversed the change and restored the original $20,000-and-200-transaction rule retroactively.4Internal Revenue Service. Some states set their own lower thresholds, sometimes as low as $600 with no transaction-count requirement. If you live in one of those states, you may receive a 1099-K from eBay even when the federal threshold wasn’t triggered. Your state tax agency’s website will list the current figure.

One thing to be clear about: not receiving a 1099-K does not mean the income is untaxed. The IRS expects you to report all income from selling goods or services, whether or not any form was issued.3Internal Revenue Service. Reading the 1099-K Number

The figure on the form is total gross payments processed through your account. It is not your profit. It does not subtract eBay fees, shipping costs you paid through the platform, refunds you issued to buyers, or any other expenses.5Internal Revenue Service. eBay does exclude sales tax it collected and remitted on your behalf, along with cancelled transactions, so those amounts should not inflate the total. But the reported figure will still exceed your bank deposits, because eBay’s fees come out before payouts. Final value fees run from 2.5% to 15.3% depending on category, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 or $0.40.6eBay.
