The E-Verify Company ID number is a four-to-seven-digit code assigned to each enrolled employer, and it appears in two reliable places: on every page of the employer’s signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Homeland Security, directly below the E-Verify logo, and inside the E-Verify portal under Company Profile.1E-Verify.gov. How Do I Find the Company ID Number Employees who need the number for a STEM OPT application have to request it from the employer, because the portal and the MOU are not accessible to workers.
On the Memorandum of Understanding
Every employer that enrolls in E-Verify signs an MOU with DHS, and the Company ID is printed on each page, just below the E-Verify logo at the top.1E-Verify.gov. How Do I Find the Company ID Number Any page will show it.
After enrollment is approved, each program administrator receives a confirmation email with login credentials, and a copy of the signed MOU is provided electronically.2E-Verify. Enrollment Confirmation Checking that emailed copy, or the HR or compliance folder where it was filed, is often faster than logging into the system.
In the E-Verify Portal
If the MOU isn’t at hand, a program administrator can log into E-Verify, open the Company Account tab, and select Company Profile. The Company ID number sits at the top of the Company Information page.3E-Verify. Edit Company Profile Only program administrators and corporate administrators who have finished the E-Verify tutorial can view this page.1E-Verify.gov. How Do I Find the Company ID Number
You can also pull a fresh copy of the MOU from the same screen. Click View Current MOU at the bottom of the Company Profile page to view, print, or save the document.4E-Verify. How Do I Get a Copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
Don’t Confuse It With Other Numbers
Several look-alike numbers get mixed up on federal forms, and using the wrong one causes rejections. Here is how the E-Verify Company ID differs from each:
- The E-Verify Company ID is four to seven digits, all numeric, and identifies the employer’s E-Verify account.5E-Verify. Appendix B – Glossary
- The Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a nine-digit IRS number for tax reporting. It has nothing to do with E-Verify.
- The E-Verify User ID is an eight-character login credential that can include letters. It identifies a person, not the company.5E-Verify. Appendix B – Glossary
- The E-Verify Case Number is generated each time a new hire is run through the system. It is tied to one employee.
A fast check: exactly nine digits is the EIN, eight characters with any letters is a User ID, and four to seven all-numeric digits is the Company ID.
Company ID vs. Client Company ID
Employers who use a third-party E-Verify employer agent receive their own Client Company ID, also four to seven digits, which appears on the client’s MOU.6E-Verify. How Do I Find My Clients Company ID Number For a STEM OPT application, ask the employer which number applies; Form I-765 instructions accept either.7U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Form I-765 Instructions for Application for Employment Authorization An employer agent looking up a client’s ID can log in, select Manage Clients, and click View next to the client’s name.
How Employees Get the Number
Employees do not have access to the portal or the MOU. Ask your hiring manager, HR representative, or compliance officer directly. Employers are permitted to release the Company ID, and E-Verify’s own guidance encourages them to share it when an employee needs it for a STEM OPT extension.8E-Verify. Without the number, you cannot complete Form I-765, USCIS will not grant the STEM OPT extension, and you will not be authorized to keep working for that employer.8E-Verify. My Employee Asked for Our E-Verify Company ID Number So They Can Apply for a STEM OPT Extension If an employer hesitates, pointing them to E-Verify’s own FAQ confirming that release is permitted often resolves it.
The public E-Verify Employer Search tool at e-verify.gov will confirm that a company is enrolled and show the enrollment date, account status, workforce size, and hiring-site locations, but it does not display the Company ID.9E-Verify. E-Verify Employer Search You still have to get that from the employer.
Where the Number Goes on STEM OPT Forms
On Form I-765, F-1 students applying for the 24-month STEM OPT extension enter the E-Verify Company ID (or Client Company ID) in Part 2, Item Numbers 28.a. through 28.c., along with the employer’s name as listed in E-Verify and the degree information.7U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Form I-765 Instructions for Application for Employment Authorization Form I-983, the Training Plan, is different: its employer section asks for the nine-digit EIN, not the E-Verify Company ID.10Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Completing the Form I-983 Training Plan for STEM OPT Students Swapping the two numbers between forms will delay the application.
If the MOU Is Lost and No One Can Log In
When the MOU is gone and the program administrator cannot access the portal, the E-Verify Contact Center handles password resets and account recovery. Call 1-888-464-4218 or email E-Verify@uscis.dhs.gov, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, except on federal holidays.11E-Verify. Contact Us Once portal access is restored, the Company Profile page will show the number and let you reprint the MOU.
