When Does DoorDash Send 1099 Forms? The January 31 Deadline

DoorDash sends 1099 forms by January 31 for the prior calendar year’s earnings. For the 2025 tax year, you get a Form 1099-NEC if DoorDash paid you $600 or more; starting with 2026 earnings, that threshold rises to $2,000. Electronic copies land in the Dasher app a few days before the deadline, and mailed copies can arrive into mid-February. Whether or not a form shows up, every dollar you earned dashing is taxable income you have to report.

The January 31 Deadline

Federal law requires DoorDash to deliver your 1099 by January 31 of the year after you earned the income.1Internal Revenue Service. Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC (04/2025) That date applies whether DoorDash sends it electronically or by mail. If January 31 falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the deadline shifts to the next business day.

Electronic forms usually appear a few days before the cutoff. Mailed copies can take longer, sometimes into mid-February depending on postal delivery. If you opted into electronic delivery and nothing has shown up by February 1, check your spam folder before you assume the form is lost.

Which 1099 Form You’ll Get

Most Dashers receive a Form 1099-NEC, which reports nonemployee compensation. DoorDash uses this form because it pays you directly for delivery work as an independent contractor rather than as an employee.2Internal Revenue Service. Independent Contractor Defined The dollar figure on the form is your gross earnings, before any fees, mileage, or other expenses come out.

The reporting threshold recently changed. For the 2025 tax year (forms sent in January 2026), DoorDash must issue a 1099-NEC if it paid you $600 or more. For the 2026 tax year and after, that threshold rises to $2,000 under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill.3Internal Revenue Service. 2026 Publication 1099 If you earn between $600 and $1,999 dashing in 2026, DoorDash will not be required to send you a 1099-NEC for that year. You still owe tax on the income.

A separate form, the 1099-K, reports payments routed through third-party payment networks. It only has to be issued when gross payments exceed $20,000 and there are more than 200 separate transactions during the year.4Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 26 U.S. Code 6050W Most Dashers will not hit both numbers, so the 1099-NEC is the form you will almost certainly see.

Backup Withholding

If you never gave DoorDash a valid taxpayer identification number, or the number you gave does not match IRS records, DoorDash may be required to withhold 24% of your pay and send it to the IRS.5Internal Revenue Service. Publication 15 (Circular E), Employer’s Tax Guide That amount will show up on your 1099, and you can claim credit for it when you file. The simpler fix is making sure DoorDash has your correct Social Security number or EIN on file before year-end.

How to Access Your 1099

DoorDash now provides 1099 forms directly through the Dasher app. In earlier years, forms came through Stripe Express, but that is no longer where you go. If you consented to electronic delivery, your form will appear in the app’s tax section, typically a few days before January 31.

If you did not opt into electronic delivery, DoorDash mails a paper copy to the address in your Dasher profile. This is where things go wrong for a lot of people. Move during the year without updating your profile and the form heads to your old address. Fix your address well before January to head that off.

What to Do If Your 1099 Is Missing or Wrong

If February arrives and you still have nothing, start with the basics. Open the Dasher app and look in the tax section even if you don’t remember opting in. Check the mailing address on your profile. If neither turns up the form, contact DoorDash support to confirm whether a 1099 was issued and where it went.

If DoorDash cannot resolve it and you are still empty-handed by the end of February, call the IRS at 800-829-1040. You will need your name, address, Social Security number, and DoorDash’s contact information. The IRS will reach out to DoorDash on your behalf.6Internal Revenue Service. What to Do When a W-2 or Form 1099 Is Missing or Incorrect

Do not wait on a missing 1099 to file. The IRS expects you to file on time with whatever records you have, and your in-app earnings summary plus bank deposit history give you what you need to calculate gross income. One point of confusion worth clearing up: Form 4852, the substitute used for a missing W-2 or 1099-R, does not apply to a missing 1099-NEC. For missing nonemployee compensation forms, you simply report the income from your own records.

If the Numbers Look Wrong

Compare the amount on your 1099 to the full-year earnings summary in the Dasher app. If something is off, contact DoorDash and request a corrected form. If a corrected 1099 arrives after you have already filed and the numbers differ from what you reported, file Form 1040-X to amend your return.6Internal Revenue Service. You Owe Tax Even Without a 1099

If you earned below the threshold, no form comes. The IRS still expects you to report every dollar. The 1099 is an information return for the agency’s matching system and has nothing to do with whether the income is taxable.7Internal Revenue Service. 1099-MISC, Independent Contractors, and Self-Employed With the new $2,000 threshold starting in 2026, more Dashers will fall below the cutoff, and some will mistakenly think that means they owe nothing.

Dasher income goes on Schedule C (Profit or Loss From Business), which attaches to your Form 1040.8Internal Revenue Service. Instructions for Schedule C (Form 1040) Schedule C is where you list your gross income and your deductible business expenses. The net profit flows through to the rest of your return.

What to Line Up Before Tax Time

Because DoorDash does not withhold income or self-employment taxes from your pay, you are responsible for sending the IRS money through the year rather than settling up in April. If you expect to owe $1,000 or more when you file, the IRS generally requires quarterly estimated payments through Form 1040-ES or IRS Direct Pay.9Internal Revenue Service. Deductions on Schedule C shrink both your income tax and your self-employment tax, so the recordkeeping is worth doing well.
