What Time Do Loans Get Deposited Into Your Account?

An approved loan usually gets deposited into your account between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM on the next business day, because most lenders send funds through the ACH network, which processes overnight in batches. The precise minute depends on your lender’s daily cutoff for submitting payments, the payment rail they use, and when your bank posts incoming transfers. Same-day and instant funding are available from some lenders, but standard next-business-day ACH remains the default.

Why Next-Day Morning Is the Default

When your lender approves your loan, they don’t wire money directly to you. They submit a payment file to an ACH operator, which batches it with other transactions and routes it to your bank overnight. For standard next-day ACH, the sending bank must submit the file by 2:15 AM ET, and receiving banks get the file around 8:30 AM ET, with settlement at the same time.1Federal Reserve Financial Services. FedACH Processing Schedule That is why loan deposits typically show up in the morning.

Lender cutoffs matter too. If you sign your agreement before your lender’s daily cutoff, your payment usually enters that day’s batch. Sign after it, and you roll to the next business day. Cutoffs vary but commonly land in late morning or early afternoon. Your bank may post the funds the moment it receives the file or wait for its own processing cycle to run, which is why the exact minute drifts within that early-morning window.

When You Can Get Funds Sooner

Not every transfer waits until morning. Same-Day ACH gives lenders three processing windows during the business day, all times Eastern:1Federal Reserve Financial Services. FedACH Processing Schedule

  • Submit by 10:30 AM, file received around noon, settlement at 1:00 PM.
  • Submit by 2:45 PM, file received around 4:00 PM, settlement at 5:00 PM.
  • Submit by 4:45 PM, file received around 5:30 PM, settlement at 6:00 PM.

Many online lenders advertising “same-day funding” are using one of these windows. An approval early in the morning can catch the first window and land by early afternoon. An approval at 3:00 PM can still arrive by evening through the third window. Lenders pay a slightly higher per-transaction fee for Same-Day ACH, so whether they offer it depends on their systems.

A growing number of lenders skip ACH entirely. The FedNow Service, operated by the Federal Reserve, moves money between participating banks in seconds, any time of day, any day of the year, with immediate availability.2Federal Reserve Board. FedNow Service Frequently Asked Questions The Real-Time Payments (RTP) network run by The Clearing House does the same, settling instantly 24/7/365.3The Clearing House. Real Time Payments

Some short-term and personal loan lenders also push funds directly to your debit card through services like Visa Direct and Mastercard Send. These transfers usually land within 30 minutes, though final availability depends on your bank. Lenders typically charge a small fee for the speed, and if your bank does not support instant funding to your debit card, they will fall back to standard ACH.

Timing by Loan Type

The kind of loan you are taking out shifts the timeline more than most borrowers expect.

Personal Loans

Online personal loans are typically the fastest. Many lenders deposit funds the next business day after approval. Some offer same-day deposits if you are approved before the cutoff and hold an account at the same bank. If you bank elsewhere, plan on one to two business days.

Purchase Mortgages

Purchase mortgages usually fund on the closing date via wire transfer through the Fedwire Funds Service, with customer transfer cutoffs at 6:45 PM ET.4Federal Reserve Financial Services. Wholesale Services Operating Hours Wires settle in minutes to hours, which is why keys and funds can change hands the same day.

Mortgage Refinances

Refinances follow a different clock because federal law gives you three business days after closing to cancel, and the lender cannot disburse funds until that window closes.5Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1635 – Right of Rescission as to Certain Transactions The clock starts on the latest of three events: you sign the note, you receive your Closing Disclosure, and you receive two copies of the rescission notice. Business days here include Saturdays but not Sundays or federal holidays. Close on a Monday and funds typically arrive Friday or the following Monday. This applies to refinances and home equity loans, not to purchase mortgages.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. How Long Do I Have to Rescind? When Does the Right of Rescission Start?

Federal Student Loans

Federal aid does not go to your bank account first. The Department of Education sends funds to your school, which applies them to tuition, fees, and other authorized charges. If money is left over, the school must pay that credit balance to you within 14 days after the balance is created, or within 14 days after the first day of class if the credit balance existed before classes started.7eCFR. 34 CFR 668.164 – Disbursing Funds Many schools move faster than the 14-day maximum, but do not expect personal-loan speed.

Private Student Loans

Private student loans go through a school certification step before the lender releases funds. Once the school certifies enrollment and loan details, the lender disburses based on the school’s chosen disbursement date. Timing from certification to disbursement runs from several days to a few weeks.

SBA and Business Loans

Small Business Administration loans move slowest. After approval, the SBA portion can take 30 to 60 days to reach your account depending on the program and whether project milestones need to be completed first. If you need capital quickly, plan around this.

Weekends and Holidays

Standard ACH and wire transfers do not process on weekends or federal holidays because the Federal Reserve’s settlement services are closed.8Federal Reserve Board. Holidays Observed – K.8 A loan approved Friday afternoon almost certainly will not deposit until Monday morning. If Monday is a federal holiday, expect Tuesday. Three-day-weekend holidays like Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day all push approvals back an extra day.

FedNow and RTP are the exception. Both run 24/7/365, so if your lender uses one and your bank participates, the day of the week does not matter.2Federal Reserve Board. FedNow Service Frequently Asked Questions Adoption is still growing, so most borrowers remain on the standard business-day calendar.

When Your Bank Has to Release the Money

Receiving a deposit and being able to spend it are not always the same moment. Regulation CC sets the federal floor: for electronic payments like ACH, your bank must make the funds available no later than the business day after the banking day it receives them.9eCFR. 12 CFR 229.10 – Next-Day Availability

Most banks do better. ACH association rules and Treasury regulations often require same-day availability for ACH credits, so the funds should be usable the day your bank receives them. If a loan deposit shows as “pending” for more than one business day after your bank received the transfer, call the bank. Real-time payments through FedNow and RTP settle instantly with immediate availability, so Regulation CC’s hold windows do not apply to them.
