What Is the PC APP CW SALES Charge on Your Card?

A charge labeled PC APP CW Sales on your bank or credit card statement is a Petro-Canada mobile app car wash sale: it appears when someone uses the Petro-Canada app to buy a car wash ticket or reload a prepaid car wash card. “PC” is Petro-Canada, “APP” is the mobile application, “CW” is car wash, and “SALES” marks it as a purchase. The transaction is billed out of Calgary, Alberta because Petro-Canada is operated by Suncor Energy Inc., headquartered at 150 6th Avenue S.W. in Calgary.1Suncor Energy. Contact Us

What You Actually Paid For

The charge is generated when a user adds funds to a Petro-Canada car wash card, or buys a wash product, through the Petro-Canada app.2WhatsThatCharge. PC APP CW SALES Three products can produce it:

  • A single car wash ticket, priced around $16.99 CAD depending on location.
  • A Wash & Go prepaid card, loaded in batches of 5, 10, or 15 washes that do not expire.
  • A Season Pass, a 90-day pass at $239 that allows one wash per day.3Petro-Canada. Car Wash

None of these auto-renew. The Wash & Go card has to be reloaded manually each time, and the Season Pass is a one-time prepaid purchase for a fixed window.3Petro-Canada. Car Wash So if you see this descriptor, something was actively bought in the app, not billed on a subscription.

The app accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Debit cards are not accepted for car wash purchases through the app.4Petro-Canada. Petro-Canada Retail App

Why It Says Calgary, and Why “PC” Can Be Misleading

The Calgary, AB location shown next to the charge is Suncor’s corporate headquarters, not the gas station where the wash happened. A customer in Ontario or British Columbia can see the Alberta reference and assume fraud, when in fact every Petro-Canada app transaction routes through the same head office address.5Petro-Canada. href=”https://www.petro-canada.ca/en/legal-privacy” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>Legal and Privacy

One quick clarification: the “PC” here is Petro-Canada. It is not President’s Choice or PC Optimum, the Loblaw-affiliated brands. Grocery delivery, PC Optimum Insiders, and other Loblaw services bill under different descriptors, so a PC APP CW Sales line is not coming from them.

How the Charge Appears on Different Statements

Banks and card issuers format the same transaction in different ways. Common variations include:2WhatsThatCharge. PC APP CW SALES

  • CHECKCARD PC APP CW SALES or CHKCARD PC APP CW SALES
  • POS Debit PC APP CW SALES or POS PURCH PC APP CW SALES
  • PRE-AUTH PC APP CW SALES or PENDING PC APP CW SALES
  • Visa Check Card PC APP CW SALES MC
  • POS REFUND PC APP CW SALES, for a refund

A “PRE-AUTH” or “PENDING” line means the transaction was authorized but has not finished settling. These usually clear within a few business days.

What to Do If You Don’t Recognize It

Start at home. Ask anyone else with access to the card whether they reloaded a car wash card or bought a wash through the app. A spouse, roommate, or authorized user is the most common explanation. Then open the Petro-Canada app and check the car wash card activity and Petro-Points history for a matching date and amount.

If the charge still doesn’t match anything, contact Petro-Canada customer service at 1-800-668-0220 or customerservice@petro-canada.ca. They handle car wash reload issues directly.4Petro-Canada. Petro-Canada Retail App Petro-Canada notes that reload transactions sometimes do not update the account balance right away but are generally resolved within a few business days, so a missing balance by itself isn’t proof the charge is wrong.

If the merchant can’t resolve it, dispute the charge with your bank or credit card issuer. Most issuers require disputes to be filed within 30 to 45 days of the statement date.6OBSI.
