What Is the Google Intuit Inc Charge on Your Statement?

A “Google Intuit Inc” charge on your bank statement is almost always a Google Play payment for an Intuit app you or someone on your account subscribed to, such as QuickBooks, TurboTax, QuickBooks Payroll, or Mailchimp. Google appears because it processed the payment; Intuit appears because it makes the software. A few minutes inside your Google account will tell you which product it is, and from there you can cancel it, ask for a refund, or confirm it’s yours.

Why Both Names Show Up on One Line

When you buy or subscribe through Google Play, Google collects the money on behalf of the developer. Under the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement, Google acts as the merchant of record in most countries, so your bank records Google as the entity that charged you.1Google Play. Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement The developer’s name gets tacked on so you can tell purchases apart. That’s why the descriptor reads something like “GOOGLE*Intuit Inc” or “Google Intuit Inc,” with the exact spacing set by your bank.

Google Play descriptors follow a pattern: “GOOGLE*” followed by the developer or app name.2Google payments center help. Report unauthorized charges If a charge on your statement doesn’t fit that format, it may not be a Google Play transaction at all, and your bank is the right first call.

Which Intuit Product Is Billing You

Intuit publishes several apps on Google Play: QuickBooks, TurboTax, QuickBooks Payroll, Mailchimp, and smaller tools such as QuickBooks GoPayment.3Google Play. Android Apps by Intuit Inc on Google Play Any of them can produce this line item.

QuickBooks Online is the most common source of a recurring charge. Its monthly plans run from $38 for Simple Start to $275 for Advanced, often at promotional pricing for the first three months.4Intuit. QuickBooks Online Pricing and Free Trial Payroll is a separate subscription starting around $88 per month plus $6.50 per employee.5QuickBooks. Plans and Pricing Those add up, so a small business running both can see over $200 in a single month.

TurboTax charges are usually one-time and tied to filing season. If you chose the “pay with my refund” option, a separate $40 processing fee gets charged by the third-party bank that handles the refund, distinct from TurboTax’s filing cost.6Intuit TurboTax. Can I pay with my refund? Because it runs through a different processor, it can produce its own confusing entry.

One product you can rule out: Mint. Intuit shut Mint down in March 2024 and folded its features into Credit Karma, so a new charge isn’t from Mint.

Find the Exact Transaction

Go to payments.google.com and click “Activity.” Look for a transaction that matches the date and amount on your bank statement.7Google Pay Help. Find your Google purchase history Clicking the entry shows the app name, the exact time, and a Google Play order number formatted as GPA followed by four groups of digits (for example, GPA.1234-5678-9012-34567). Save that number; you’ll need it for a refund request.

To see only recurring charges, use “Subscriptions & services” on the same site.7Google Pay Help. Find your Google purchase history That page lists every active subscription tied to the account.

Check Family Members and Shared Devices

If nothing in your own account matches, check whether someone else on your household’s devices made the purchase. Charges route to whichever Google account has the linked payment method, so a spouse or child using a shared phone can generate a charge on your card. Review the purchase history for every Google account that has your card or bank account attached.

Cancel the Subscription

On an Android device, open Settings, tap Google, then your name, then “Manage your Google Account.” Go to “Payments & subscriptions” and select “Manage subscriptions.”8Google Play Help. Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play Find the Intuit product and tap “Cancel subscription.”

Two things to know. Canceling stops future charges but does not refund the one that already hit your card; that’s a separate request. And deleting the app from your phone doesn’t cancel anything. Billing continues until you cancel through Google Play.

Request a Refund

Google runs a self-service refund tool for Play Store purchases.9Google Play Help. Request your Google Play refund Enter the order number, pick a reason, and submit. Decisions usually come back in one to four days.10Google Help. Request a refund on Google Play If the purchase is more than 48 hours old, Google may point you to Intuit directly.

Approved refunds can take up to 10 business days to appear on your original payment method, though the money often lands sooner.11Google Help. Check the status of a refund request for Google Play The wait depends on your bank.

Don’t Start With a Bank Chargeback

Calling your bank first can backfire. When your bank files a chargeback against Google, Google treats it as a fraud dispute and often suspends the payments profile on your Google account. That can lock you out of future Play Store, YouTube, and other Google purchases, and reinstating the account takes time even after the chargeback resolves. Use Google’s refund process first.

If You Don’t Recognize the Charge

If your Google purchase history has nothing that matches and no family member is responsible, the charge may be fraudulent. Compare it against payments.google.com, and if you still can’t find it, file through Google’s unauthorized transaction form.2Google payments center help. Report unauthorized charges

Rule out a few common false alarms first. Pending charges from a canceled order can sit on your statement briefly before dropping off. Small temporary authorizations appear when you add a new payment method to Google. Duplicate pending charges sometimes show up next to the real one and disappear within a few days.2Google payments center help. Your QuickBooks Data After You Cancel

Canceling a QuickBooks Online subscription doesn’t wipe your records immediately. Intuit keeps your data available in read-only mode for one year after cancellation, and you can export reports and lists to Excel during that period.12QuickBooks. Export before it closes; once the retention period ends, the data is gone.13QuickBooks. How can I download all of my QuickBooks data before I close a company?

If the Charge Was for Business

QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, and similar Intuit tools used for business are generally deductible as ordinary business expenses. Cloud subscriptions are typically deducted in the year you pay for them rather than depreciated. The software has to be used primarily for business; personal budgeting tools don’t qualify.

The $40 TurboTax refund processing fee is a tax preparation cost. Self-employed filers can deduct tax preparation on Schedule C, but the deduction for personal tax prep was suspended for most individual filers under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act through 2025. Check whether that suspension has been extended before claiming it.
