What Is the BLD Resume Charge on Your Bank Statement?

A charge labeled BLDRESUME or BLD*RESUME on your bank statement is a payment to Bold LLC, the company that runs MyPerfectResume, Resume-Now, LiveCareer, Zety, Resume Genius, and a dozen or so other resume-building sites. If you used any of them to create or download a resume, you almost certainly signed up for a low-cost trial that converted into a recurring subscription. You can cancel it, and if the company won’t refund the charge, your card issuer and federal law give you more leverage than most people realize.

Why the Name on Your Statement Looks Unfamiliar

Bold LLC processes payments for its entire network of sites under one merchant name, so the brand you remember visiting isn’t the one that shows up on your statement. The portfolio includes MyPerfectResume, Resume-Now, LiveCareer, Zety, Resume Genius, Resume Builder, Resume Companion, JobHero, and Resume Lab, among others. You visited one of them; your bank sees “BLD.”

Because the sites share a parent, it’s possible to end up with accounts on more than one without noticing, and each one bills on its own. If you see two unfamiliar charges in the same cycle, check whether you created a resume on two different Bold sites.

Why You’re Being Charged Now

These sites use a trial-to-subscription model. You pay a small fee for a 14-day trial, and the account converts automatically to a recurring plan at a much higher rate unless you cancel first. MyPerfectResume charges $2.95 for the trial and then $23.95 every four weeks.1MyPerfectResume. MyPerfectResume Pricing Resume-Now runs a $1.85 trial that renews at the same $23.95. Some sites also sell an annual plan billed upfront.

The conversion is disclosed in the checkout terms, but most people don’t register the detail at the time, download their resume, and forget the account exists. The first full-price charge then lands weeks later and reads as a surprise.

How to Cancel

First, figure out which Bold site you actually used. Search your email for a welcome or receipt message from any of the brands above. The descriptor on your statement sometimes names the specific site, like “RESUME-NOW” or “MYPERFECT.”

Once you know the site, log in and look for the subscription or billing section of your account dashboard; most Bold sites let you cancel there. If you can’t get into the account, call customer service. Resume-Now’s U.S. line is 844-351-7484, and LiveCareer’s is 800-652-8430.2Resume-Now. Contact Us – Resume-Now Live chat and email are also offered on the sites’ contact pages.

Get a cancellation confirmation number or email before you end the call or close the chat window, and save it. If a charge appears after cancellation, that confirmation is the evidence you’ll need.

Asking Bold LLC for a Refund

After canceling, you can ask customer service for a refund on charges you believe you shouldn’t have paid. Representatives have some discretion, and refunds are more likely if you didn’t log in or use the service during the billed period. The company’s standard position is that post-trial charges are valid under the terms you accepted, so expect pushback. Keep notes: the representative’s name, date and time of the call, and what was offered or refused. Approved refunds typically appear on your statement within five to ten business days.

Disputing the Charge With Your Bank

If Bold LLC won’t refund you, dispute the charge with your card issuer. Your rights depend on whether the payment came from a credit card or a debit card.

Credit Cards

The Fair Credit Billing Act lets you dispute billing errors on a credit card. Send written notice to your issuer within 60 days of the statement date that first showed the charge, including your name, account number, the amount, and why you believe it’s wrong.3Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors Call to flag the dispute, but follow up in writing to preserve your rights.

The issuer has to acknowledge your dispute within 30 days and resolve it within two billing cycles, capped at 90 days.4eCFR. 12 CFR 1026.13 – Billing Error Resolution While the investigation is open, the issuer can’t try to collect the disputed amount or report it as delinquent.

Debit Cards

Debit card protections under Regulation E are weaker, and timing drives the outcome. Report within two business days of discovering the problem and your liability is capped at $50. Report after that but within 60 days of the statement and the cap rises to $500. Miss the 60-day window and you could be liable for the full amount of any charges that occur after that deadline.5Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Liability of Consumer for Unauthorized Transfers The 60-day clock runs from when the statement is sent, not when you notice the charge, so call your bank the same day you see it.

The Federal Rules Bold LLC Has to Follow

Two federal laws sit behind a subscription dispute like this one. The Electronic Fund Transfer Act requires a company to get your signed or electronically authenticated authorization before setting up recurring charges, and to give you a copy of the terms.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers If the company can’t produce evidence you consented, the charges may count as unauthorized.

The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act goes further for “negative option” billing, where your silence is treated as acceptance. Before taking your billing information, a company has to clearly disclose the material terms, get your express informed consent before charging you, and provide a simple way to stop future charges.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 USC 8403 – Negative Option Marketing on the Internet If the subscription terms were buried, cancellation was unreasonably hard, or you were charged without clear consent, the company may be in violation, and you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Many states also require advance renewal notices and online cancellation when signup was online. The specifics vary by state, and those rules can give you additional footing in a dispute if Bold LLC didn’t follow them.
