A “disc club charge” on your statement is almost always a recurring subscription bill, most often from the Disc Golf Network streaming service, a disc golf subscription box like DiscMember, or a vinyl-of-the-month club. The merchant name on your statement rarely matches the brand you remember signing up with, which is why the line item looks unfamiliar. You can usually stop it by canceling through the platform you originally used to subscribe, and if that fails, by disputing the charge with your card issuer.
What the Charge Probably Is
Card issuers show the merchant’s legal registration name or a third-party billing partner, not always the consumer-facing brand.1Capital One. What Is This Credit Card Charge Pull up the full transaction in your bank or card app, note the exact merchant string, date, and amount, and search that string online. That usually surfaces the parent company.
A few services commonly produce a descriptor with “disc” or “club” in it:
- Disc Golf Network (DGN), a streaming subscription for live and on-demand disc golf tournament coverage, billed monthly or annually through whichever platform was used to sign up (the DGN website, iOS, Android, Roku, or Amazon Fire TV).2Disc Golf Network. Why Is There a Charge on My Credit Card
- DiscMember, a monthly disc golf subscription box from Disc Store that ships curated discs each month.3Disc Store. DiscMember Disc Golf Monthly Subscription
- Vinyl or record clubs, such as Amazon’s Vinyl of the Month Club at $24.99 per month, or comparable record-of-the-month services.4Rolling Stone. Amazon Vinyl of the Month Club
If none of these fit, check whether another authorized user on the account signed up for something, or whether a free trial you started earlier quietly converted into a paid subscription.
How to Cancel
Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. Cancellation has to happen through the same platform you originally used to sign up.5Disc Golf Network. How Can I Cancel My Subscription

If the Merchant Won’t Refund You
When the company won’t cooperate, or you never authorized the charge in the first place, escalate to your card issuer.
Credit Card Disputes
The Fair Credit Billing Act lets you dispute billing errors, including unauthorized charges, in writing to the issuer’s billing inquiry address. The notice must reach the issuer within 60 days of the statement that shows the charge.7FTC. Using Credit Cards and Disputing Charges Include your name, account number, and a description of the disputed charge. Certified mail with return receipt gives you proof of delivery.
The issuer must acknowledge the dispute in writing within 30 days and resolve it within 90 days.8Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. How Do I Dispute a Charge on My Credit Card Bill You can withhold payment on the disputed amount during the investigation without being reported as delinquent. Federal law caps consumer liability for unauthorized credit card charges at $50, and many issuers go further with zero-liability policies.9FDIC. Consumer News
Debit Card Disputes
Debit protections are weaker. Under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act, reporting an unauthorized transaction within two business days of discovering it caps your liability at $50. Between two and 60 days after the statement, the cap rises to $500. After 60 days, you could be liable for the full amount of unauthorized transfers that occurred after that window.9FDIC. Consumer News Banks generally have 10 business days to investigate and must issue a temporary credit if it takes longer.10Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. How Do I Get My Money Back After an Unauthorized Transaction Because the money has already left your account, that temporary-credit timeline matters more than it does with a credit card. For recurring subscriptions, a credit card generally gives stronger protection.
Chargebacks
If the merchant refuses a refund and the standard dispute doesn’t resolve things, you can request a chargeback, a forced reversal of the transaction initiated by the bank. The typical window is 120 days from the transaction date. A chargeback can take several weeks to several months, compared with a few days for a merchant-issued refund, so it’s worth trying the company directly first.
Reporting an Unauthorized Charge
If you never authorized the subscription at all, you can report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or contact your state attorney general.11FTC. How To Stop Subscriptions You Never Ordered Keep records of every cancellation attempt, all correspondence with the merchant, and copies of the billing statements. Those records strengthen both a card dispute and any regulatory complaint.
