What Is a Beyond, Inc. Charge on Your Statement?

A Beyond, Inc. charge on your bank statement is almost always a transaction from the online retailer that runs Bed Bath & Beyond, Overstock, and buybuy BABY. The company is headquartered in Murray, Utah, and sells home goods through its websites. If you don’t recognize the amount, the usual culprits are an auto-renewing welcome rewards+ membership, a return shipping deduction, a temporary pre-authorization hold placed at checkout, or a purchase from a third-party marketplace seller.1Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Why the Name on Your Statement Doesn’t Match the Store You Shopped At

The company has rebranded twice in two years, and the merchant descriptor on your statement reflects that history rather than the brand name you saw at checkout. It started as Overstock.com. In June 2023, Overstock bought the Bed Bath & Beyond brand and digital assets for $21.5 million after the original Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy. The parent company rebranded to Beyond, Inc. in October 2023, then changed again to Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. in August 2025, reclaiming the NYSE ticker BBBY.2Retail TouchPoints. Beyond Inc Renames as Bed Bath Beyond

Depending on when the charge posted and how the merchant descriptor is configured, your statement could read “Beyond,” “Beyond Inc,” “Bed Bath & Beyond,” or “Overstock.” All four refer to the same company. If you bought something from any of those sites, that explains the line item.

Welcome Rewards+ Auto-Renewal

The single most common unrecognized recurring charge is the paid loyalty program, welcome rewards+. The membership costs $24.95 per year and renews automatically on the anniversary of your sign-up date. The company is authorized to charge the card on file unless you’ve turned off auto-renewal in your account settings, and membership fees are non-refundable.3Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. If you signed up for a membership a year ago and forgot about it, a $24.95 charge now is almost certainly the renewal. The program has been challenged in court before: in 2020, Robert Turnier filed a proposed class action in the Southern District of California alleging the company’s earlier Beyond+ program renewed subscriptions without the disclosures required by California’s Automatic Renewal Law. Turnier said he was charged $29 in August 2019, a full year after a single online purchase. In February 2021, the court dismissed all four claims but granted leave to amend, and it ruled that Beyond+ did qualify as a subscription subject to California’s auto-renewal law.5Bloomberg Law. One wrinkle shows up in Better Business Bureau complaints: when no valid card is on file at renewal time, the fee has been deducted from a customer’s store credit balance instead. In one documented case, a roughly $300 store credit was drained over time through repeated membership deductions the customer didn’t know were happening.7Better Business Bureau. How To Turn Off Auto-Renewal

Log in to your Bed Bath & Beyond account and switch off the auto-renewal toggle in the welcome rewards+ settings. When the button flips from “Cancel Membership” to “Renew Membership,” the change is in. Your membership stays active through the end of the paid year but won’t renew. If it lapses, any earned rewards are held for 30 days and then expire.4Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Welcome Rewards Plus Membership

Return Shipping Deductions

If you sent something back recently, part of the “missing” refund may actually be a return shipping fee. Under the standard return policy, you pay return shipping on customer-choice returns (you changed your mind, ordered the wrong thing, or found the item elsewhere), and the cost is deducted from your refund.8Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Standard Return Policy BBB complaints show deductions in the $15 to $66 range for standard-sized items.7Better Business Bureau. Beyond Inc Complaints Returns caused by a company error or a defective product don’t incur these costs.

Oversized items are a different category. The oversized item return policy says return shipping may run from $100 to $1,000 depending on weight and distance, and the company reserves the right to deduct that amount from your refund or charge your credit card directly. You authorize those potential charges when you buy the item.9Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Oversized Item Return Policy

Separately, a charge can appear when a returned item doesn’t reach the warehouse within 30 days. In that scenario, the company issues a replacement charge for the item.1Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Pre-Authorization Holds

A pre-authorization hold is placed at checkout to confirm your card has sufficient funds. It can appear as a pending charge even though the final charge hasn’t settled yet.1Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Marketplace Seller Charges

The company runs a marketplace where third-party sellers list products alongside its own inventory. Items sold through those sellers follow each seller’s own return and refund policies, not the company’s standard policy.8Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Standard Return Policy That’s why a return request can run into rules you didn’t expect, such as a marketplace seller requiring every box in a multi-piece shipment to be opened before a return is initiated. The company has told the BBB it acts as an intermediary in those cases rather than making the final decision on refunds or fees.7Better Business Bureau. Beyond Inc Complaints

If You Used the Bed Bath & Beyond Credit Card

The co-branded Bed Bath & Beyond credit card is issued by Bread Financial (operating through Comenity), which handles billing, credit approval, and account management for the card.10Bed Bath & Beyond Help Center. Scam Sites Using the Bed Bath & Beyond Name

If the charge is tied to a purchase you don’t recognize at all, check what website you actually bought from. The Better Business Bureau has warned about impostor sites using the Bed Bath & Beyond logo to run fake “going out of business” sales, and buyers report never receiving the products they paid for.11WHNT News 19. How To Resolve the Charge

Start with the company. Beyond, Inc. customer care can be reached at 1-800-843-2446 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST; weekends, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST), by email at help@beyond.com, or through the support form on the Bed Bath & Beyond site.12Beyond, Inc. If the company doesn’t resolve it, your credit card gives you a second route. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you can dispute the charge in writing with your card issuer. The letter must reach the issuer within 60 days of the first statement showing the charge, and it should include your name, account number, and a description of the error. While the investigation is open, the issuer can’t report the disputed amount as delinquent or try to collect on it. The issuer must acknowledge the dispute within 30 days and resolve it within 90 days.13Federal Trade Commission. Using Credit Cards and Disputing Charges If neither the merchant nor the issuer resolves the problem, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
