What Does SecureOne Advantage Warranty Cover?

SecureOne Advantage warranty coverage is a vehicle service contract sold through Westlake Financial that pays for mechanical breakdowns across 14 component groups, including the engine, transmission, drive axle, power steering, air conditioning, and electrical system. It runs 12 months/12,000 miles or 24 months/24,000 miles, whichever comes first, with a $100 deductible per repair visit and 24-hour roadside assistance included.1Westlake Financial. Advantage is the broader of the two SecureOne tiers. The base Powertrain plan covers the drivetrain alone; Advantage keeps all of that and adds six more categories of parts.3Westlake Financial. SecureOne Vehicle Protection

What the Advantage Plan Covers

The drivetrain pieces inherited from Powertrain are the engine and its internally lubricated parts, the transmission, transaxle, transfer case, and drive axle group. Seals and gaskets are covered when replaced during another covered repair.1Westlake Financial. SecureOne Updates – AUL

Advantage adds six more groups:1Westlake Financial. SecureOne Updates – AUL

  • Power steering: steering gear box, pump assembly, rack and pinion, pitman arm, idler arm, tie rod, control valves, and intermediate shafts.
  • Air conditioning: compressor, condenser, evaporator, A/C clutch and coil, expansion valve, receiver drier, blower motor, and heater control valve.
  • Electrical: alternator, starter motor, voltage regulator, distributor, solenoids, electronic fuel injectors, ignition coils and modules, several engine sensors (throttle position, front oxygen, crankshaft and camshaft position, fuel pressure), wiper motors, power window motors and regulators, power mirror motors, power seat motors, power lock actuators, the 4WD encoder motor, and a set of manual switches for windows, seats, headlights, turn signals, locks, wipers, and ignition.
  • Timing belt or chain (listed within the engine group).
  • Constant velocity (CV) joints (listed within the drive axle group).
  • Expanded seals and gaskets coverage, still tied to replacement during a covered repair rather than as standalone work.

What the Plan Does Not Cover

One rule shapes everything else: only the parts specifically listed in each component group are covered.4Westlake Financial. SecureOne Marathon Brochure Common wear items such as brake pads, clutches, suspension bushings, and body or interior components fall outside the contract. When a covered part is replaced, the administrator may use remanufactured or used parts of like kind and quality.2Westlake Financial. AUL SecureOne Brochure

Several vehicles cannot be enrolled at all. The excluded list names every Porsche and Land Rover, all Mercedes AMG and G-Class, all BMW M-series and 600-series and above, the Dodge Viper, Nissan GT-R, Acura NSX, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and ZR1, Ford Mustang Cobra/Saleen/Shelby variants, and Jaguar models with 10- or 12-cylinder engines or forced induction. Beyond those specific models, the contract excludes all vehicles over one ton, all modified vehicles, all 10- and 12-cylinder vehicles, and “all exotic editions.”4Westlake Financial. Term, Deductible, and Waiting Period

Advantage comes in two lengths: 12 months or 12,000 miles, and 24 months or 24,000 miles. Whichever limit arrives first ends the contract.1Westlake Financial. SecureOne Updates – AUL Every covered repair visit carries a $100 deductible.2Westlake Financial. AUL SecureOne Brochure

Coverage does not begin on the signature date. The Marathon-administered brochure specifies a 15-day and 1,000-mile waiting period before any claim may be filed.5Westlake Financial. Marathon SecureOne Brochure The AUL version also references a 15-day wait.1Westlake Financial. Roadside Assistance

Both tiers include 24/7 roadside help at no extra cost. The benefits listed in the Marathon brochure are towing, jump start, flat tire change (limited to mounting the customer’s own inflated spare), lockout assistance (key cutting or replacement is at the customer’s expense), fluid delivery (delivery covered, fluids not), emergency concierge phone support, substitute transportation, and trip interruption.4Westlake Financial. Using the Coverage

You can choose your own repair shop. The contract does not confine repairs to a dealer network.2Westlake Financial. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time, but charge-backs apply, and the contract materials do not specify whether a pro-rata refund of the purchase price is available.5Westlake Financial. Marathon SecureOne Brochure California adds an independent right under Civil Code Section 1794.41: a full refund if you cancel within 60 days (30 days for a used car without a manufacturer’s warranty) and have filed no claims, with partial refunds available after those windows.7California Department of Insurance. Service Contracts and Extended Warranties Rules in other states vary, so check local consumer protection law or ask the administrator.

If a Claim Is Denied

The Federal Trade Commission advises starting with the administrator or dealer. If that does not resolve the dispute, you can report it to your state attorney general or file a complaint with the FTC.6Federal Trade Commission. Auto Warranties and Auto Service Contracts California consumers can ask for written reasons for the denial, request inspection reports, and contact the backup insurer named on the contract. Unresolved disputes can go to the California Department of Insurance at (800) 927-4357, or to small claims court for amounts up to $10,000.7California Department of Insurance.
