Volaris Web Charge: Descriptors, Amounts, and Refunds

A Volaris web charge on your card statement is a transaction from Volaris, the Mexican ultra-low-cost airline, tied to something bought through its website or app. That “something” is often not the ticket itself. Volaris sells almost every part of a trip separately, and it also runs auto-renewing membership programs, so a single booking can produce several charges spread across days or weeks.

Why One Trip Can Produce Several Charges

Volaris uses three fare tiers — Zero, Basic, and Plus — with sharply different inclusions. The cheapest Zero fare covers only a personal item; a carry-on is an add-on. Basic adds one checked bag up to 33 pounds. Only Plus includes a carry-on, a heavier checked bag, change flexibility, and priority boarding.1Volaris. Baggage Policy Anything you add during checkout or later in “My Trips” can bill as a separate transaction.2Volaris. Additional Service Fees (USD)

A few situations account for most of the surprise charges people see:

  • Ancillary fees for seat selection, checked bags, excess baggage, priority boarding, and express check-in are each purchased separately and can each appear as their own line.
  • The Airport Use Fee (TUA) for flights involving Mexican airports is sometimes billed separately from the ticket. If you don’t pay it at booking, Volaris requires you to complete payment at least four hours before departure through the website or app, which can produce a second charge days or weeks after the original ticket purchase.3Volaris. • v.club and v.pass are recurring subscriptions that bill automatically to the card on file.
  • Website and app errors have produced duplicate charges, or charges with no matching itinerary, in complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.4BBB. Volaris Airlines Complaints

How to Identify the Charge From the Descriptor

If the charge is from a Volaris subscription rather than a flight, the descriptor is often the clearest clue.

v.club is a paid discount membership that bills monthly or annually depending on the plan you chose at sign-up. On statements it can show as LIN AER VCLUB MX, VCLUB USD, LIN AER VCLUB CR MX, or VCLUB CR USD. When you first sign up, Volaris also places a temporary $20 MXN validation charge that is returned within 10 business days.5Volaris. Terms and Conditions – v.club With Recurring Charge

v.pass is a monthly subscription covering one domestic flight per month within Mexico for a fixed fee; airport taxes are still charged separately for each trip.6Volaris. v.pass FAQ

Annual Pass is priced at $7,999 MXN or $799.99 USD and renews automatically. Its descriptors include PASE ANUAL MXN, PASE ANUAL USD, PASE RECUR MXN, PASE RECUR USD, Volaris Pase Anual CGO Auto, and Volaris Pase Anual AXPG.7Volaris. Terms and Conditions – Annual Pass

If the descriptor doesn’t match any of these, the charge is more likely a ticket or an add-on tied to a specific reservation. Check your email for a Volaris receipt from that date; ancillary purchases and subscription sign-ups each generate their own confirmation.

Typical Amounts You Might See

Volaris publishes fees in both USD and MXN, and prices shift by season. The airline treats February, March, May, June, September, October, and November as low season, and January, April, July, August, and December as high season.2Volaris. Additional Service Fees (USD)

Some representative USD amounts for purchases made on the website:

  • First checked bag: $23.99 to $27.99 online, $28 to $33 at the airport.
  • Seat selection: $9.99 for a back seat in low season, up to $27.99 for a first-row seat in high season.
  • Itinerary change more than 24 hours before departure: $74.99 online.
  • Itinerary change 24 to 4 hours before departure: $99.99 online.
  • Express check-in on domestic routes: $3.99.
  • Boarding pass printing assistance: $10.

Web pricing is generally cheaper than at the airport, though for some seat categories the call center price is actually lower than the web price; regular and back seats cost $13 through the call center versus $10.99 to $13.99 on the web depending on season.2Volaris. Additional Service Fees (USD)

How to Cancel a Recurring Volaris Subscription

Both v.club and v.pass have a mandatory 12-month initial term, and the fee is non-refundable once the term begins. If a scheduled payment is declined, the system retries and suspends benefits until it collects. After the mandatory period, v.club cancellations go through the “Submit a ticket” form on the Volaris portal; a canceled membership cannot be reactivated, so a new one has to be purchased at the then-current price.5Volaris. Terms and Conditions – v.club With Recurring Charge For account verification on v.club-specific issues, Volaris asks for a scanned copy of an official ID sent to vclub@volaris.com.8Volaris. v.club FAQ

How to Dispute a Charge or Get a Refund

For a charge you don’t recognize or believe is wrong, start with Volaris directly. The airline offers several contact channels:9Volaris. Contact Us

  • Online request form at tuexperiencia.volaris.com/new-request.html, with an estimated 48-hour response time.
  • WhatsApp at +52 55 5898 8599, which starts with a chatbot and can transfer to a human agent.
  • Phone from the U.S. at +1 855 VOLARIS (865-2747).

One warning about going straight to your bank: Volaris has told BBB complainants that once a chargeback petition is active, the airline treats the matter as being in the bank’s hands and will not separately process a refund.4BBB. Volaris Airlines Complaints Trying to resolve the issue with Volaris first avoids a situation where a premature chargeback stalls your refund.

Volaris cites refund processing windows of 7 to 21 business days depending on the bank. In documented BBB cases, the airline refunded the full $197.08 for a booking where the website crashed and no itinerary was issued, and offered a mix of cash refund and electronic credit for a customer charged for a “Volaris with you” fee they believed was optional.

The 24-Hour Rule for U.S. Bookings

For tickets bought through an official Volaris channel from the United States, you’re entitled to a full refund without penalty if you cancel within 24 hours of purchase, as long as the booking was made at least seven days before departure. Credit card refunds process within seven business days; debit card or bank transfer refunds take up to 20 calendar days. This is a U.S. Department of Transportation requirement, not a Volaris courtesy.10Volaris. Customer Service Plan

Outside the 24-Hour Window

Volaris services are generally non-refundable outside that window. The exception is the Plus fare, which allows cancellation with a full refund to the original payment method up to 24 hours before the first flight segment, provided you haven’t checked in.3Volaris. Terms and Conditions – International Air Passenger Services For flights involving Mexico, passengers who cancel within 24 hours of purchase can request a refund of airport use fees and taxes; after that, those fees are only recoverable as electronic credit within 30 days of the missed flight.11Volaris. Flight Cancellations Terms and Conditions

If Volaris cancels or significantly delays a flight, the airline must offer a refund for the unused portion of the ticket and, under Mexican aviation regulations, compensation of at least 25% of the ticket price for the affected segment.3Volaris.
