A charge from Tuya Global Inc on your bank or credit card statement is almost always a subscription tied to a smart home device you own — most often cloud video storage for a Wi-Fi security camera, but sometimes an SMS or phone-call alert plan. Tuya Global Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of Tuya Inc., the cloud platform that powers hundreds of branded smart devices and their companion apps, so the charge appears under Tuya’s name even when you bought the device under a different brand.1Tuya Inc. You can stop it through the app that sold you the plan, through PayPal, or through your Apple or Google Play subscription settings, depending on how you originally paid.
Why the Charge Shows Up Under a Name You Don’t Recognize
Most people never buy anything directly from Tuya. They buy a security camera, smart plug, sensor, or light from a consumer brand, install the companion app, and use it to set up the device. Tuya provides the cloud infrastructure and app framework behind that experience for a wide range of manufacturers.3U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Tuya Inc. Form F-1 Registration Statement When you subscribe to a paid feature inside one of those apps and pay by card or PayPal, the billing descriptor that reaches your statement is “Tuya Global Inc.,” not the device brand. Third-party device makers confirm this directly; Cocoon Connect, for instance, tells its customers that cloud storage purchased through PayPal or credit card will appear as Tuya Global Inc. on their statement.4Cocoon Products. Which Subscription Is Billing You
The recurring charge usually comes from one of three services offered inside Tuya-powered apps:5Tuya Inc. How to Manage Subscription Services
- Video cloud storage for a security camera, which keeps event-triggered recordings for a rolling 7, 14, or 30 days. Apple App Store listings show these plans running from $3.19 per month for 7 days up to $9.99 per month for 30 days.6Tuya Inc. Cloud Storage Subscription Plans for IP Cameras7Apple App Store. - SMS notifications, which send text alerts when a device detects an event.
- Phone-call notifications, which deliver the same alerts as voice calls.
General monthly subscriptions at $2.99 or $9.99, per-device plans, and AI event detection add-ons also appear as in-app purchases and can produce the same descriptor.7Apple App Store. How to Cancel

Through PayPal
If PayPal took the payment, the cancellation has to happen inside your PayPal account, not inside the app. Log in, open your automatic payments or subscription settings, find the Tuya billing agreement, and cancel it. Billing stops at the next cycle.8Tuya Inc. How to Cancel PayPal Subscription

Getting a Refund
Tuya processes refund requests through its support ticket system. Submit a ticket through the Tuya support portal with the order number, payment method, your name, any enterprise information, a screenshot of the order number from the payment interface, and the Tuya entity that processed the payment. Approved refunds go back to the original payment account.11Tuya Inc. How to Apply for a Refund
If you paid through PayPal, Apple, or Google Play, each of those platforms also has its own refund and dispute process you can use instead.
Disputing a Charge You Never Authorized
If you never signed up for anything from a Tuya-powered app and don’t own a smart device that would explain the charge, treat it as an unauthorized transaction. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you can send your card issuer a written dispute within 60 days of the statement showing the charge. The issuer must acknowledge the dispute within 30 days and resolve it within 90 days, and your liability for unauthorized charges is capped at $50 under federal law.12Federal Trade Commission. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau suggests calling your card company as soon as you spot the charge and then following up in writing, keeping copies of everything and noting the dates of any calls.13Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. How Do I Dispute a Charge on My Credit Card Bill If the issuer decides the charge was valid, it has to tell you in writing why, and give you a due date for payment.
