TAMKO Warranty Claim Form: How to File, Submit, and Appeal

To file a TAMKO warranty claim, use the warranty claim form on TAMKO’s online portal at tamko.com/warranty-center, or start the claim by emailing warranty@tamko.com or calling 800-441-7190. You’ll need proof of purchase, property and owner information, the specific TAMKO product name, installation date, and a description of the problem. Once TAMKO has everything it needs, the review takes about 10 to 12 weeks.1TAMKO. Warranty Center

What to Gather Before You Open a Claim

TAMKO won’t begin its review until every required piece is in hand, so pull everything together before you touch the form. Missing one item resets the clock.

  • The invoice from your roofer or builder, showing the TAMKO product name, quantity, and date. This is your primary proof of purchase.
  • The property address, including the county — the exact location where the shingles are installed, not just a mailing address.
  • The full names of all property owners exactly as they appear on the deed. Nicknames or abbreviations can cause problems.
  • A mailing address, if it’s different from the property.
  • Phone number and email for each owner listed.
  • The TAMKO product name — Heritage, Heritage Vintage, Elite Glass-Seal, StormFighter, or another line. Check the original invoice or the shingle packaging if you kept it.
  • The installation or purchase date, as specific as you can make it.
  • The date you bought the house, if you weren’t the owner when the roof was installed.
  • A brief description of what you’re seeing: curling, cracking, leaking, granule loss, or other visible damage.1TAMKO. Warranty Center

Photos and Shingle Samples

You may not need photos the moment you open the claim, but TAMKO will almost certainly ask for them during the review, and generic snapshots rarely satisfy the warranty team. Have these ready:

  • A full-roof shot from a distance that shows the entire roof in one frame.
  • Two close-ups of fastener placement, so the reviewer can check whether the shingles were nailed in the correct zone.
  • Each affected slope photographed individually.
  • At least four close-ups per affected slope clearly showing the defect — cracking, blistering, delamination, or whatever the issue is.
  • Photos of all attic ventilation: roof-mounted vents, gable vents, and soffit vents. Inadequate ventilation is one of the most common reasons claims are denied, so these are not optional.1TAMKO. Warranty Center

TAMKO may also request physical shingle samples. If it does, have a contractor remove two full shingles from the affected area. Removal and shipping costs are yours, not TAMKO’s.2TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty Refusing to provide samples or photos when asked terminates TAMKO’s warranty obligation entirely, so treat these requests as non-negotiable.

How to Submit the Form

The fastest route is the online portal at tamko.com/warranty-center. Click “Start A Claim,” fill in the required fields, upload your documents and photos, and submit. The system generates a confirmation once everything goes through.1TAMKO. Warranty Center

If you’d rather not use the portal, email your materials to warranty@tamko.com or call 800-441-7190 and leave a detailed message. A representative typically responds within one to two business days.1TAMKO. Warranty Center Whichever route you use, keep a copy of everything you send. The confirmation email, the documents, the photos. You’ll want that paper trail if a dispute comes up later.

What Happens After You File

Once TAMKO has a complete claim package, expect the review to take 10 to 12 weeks.1TAMKO. Warranty Center That clock only starts when TAMKO has everything it needs. If the company asks for additional photos or samples and you take three weeks to send them, the timeline resets from when those arrive.

During the review, TAMKO’s technical team compares your photos and any samples against the product’s known specifications. If the initial evidence suggests a manufacturing defect, TAMKO may send an inspector to the property. You’ll be contacted to schedule the visit, and you’re required to provide reasonable access. Denying access or attaching unreasonable conditions terminates TAMKO’s warranty obligation on the spot.3TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty

If TAMKO approves the claim, you’ll receive a written decision explaining the settlement. If it’s denied, the letter will explain why.

Why Claims Get Denied

Most denied TAMKO claims fall into a handful of categories. Knowing them ahead of time lets you avoid a common mistake or save yourself from filing a claim that has no chance.

  • Improper installation. This is the big one. Shingles not installed per TAMKO’s application instructions — wrong nailing pattern, incorrect offset, missing starter strips — void the warranty. The Heritage application instructions explicitly warn that failure to follow them “will adversely affect coverage under the Limited Warranty.”4TAMKO Building Products LLC. Heritage Architectural Asphalt Shingles Application Instructions
  • Inadequate attic ventilation. The warranty excludes coverage when ventilation is insufficient, which is why the photo requirements include images of every vent.
  • Repairs made before TAMKO authorized them. If you fix the roof before TAMKO resolves the claim, it may be denied. Unless you have written authorization to proceed with repairs, leave the damaged shingles in place.2TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty
  • Storm damage and acts of nature. Hail, tornado, hurricane, ice damming, lightning, and wind above the product’s rated speed are excluded.3TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty
  • Biological growth and staining. Damage from algae, moss, fungus, overhanging trees, birds, or animals is excluded from the main warranty. TAMKO offers a separate Algae Cleaning Limited Warranty with its own terms.
  • Failure to cooperate. Not providing requested photos, samples, or a completed warranty questionnaire terminates the company’s obligation immediately.

The warranty also excludes damage from chemical exposure, roof traffic, settling or cracking of the building structure, and defects in the roof deck under the shingles.3TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty The core principle: the warranty covers manufacturing defects that cause leaks, and nothing else.

What an Approved Claim Actually Pays

During what TAMKO calls the Full Start Period — the first 10 years for Heritage shingles — the company covers both the cost of replacement shingles and the labor to install them if it confirms a manufacturing defect caused a leak. After the Full Start Period ends, coverage drops to replacement materials only, and the material amount is prorated based on how many years have passed. TAMKO will not pay for labor after the Full Start Period expires.3TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty

Replacement shingles issued through a claim are only warranted for the remainder of the original term. The clock doesn’t reset.

If TAMKO Denies Your Claim

TAMKO’s warranty includes a mandatory binding arbitration clause. If you dispute a denial, you generally can’t sue in court. You must resolve the dispute through individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association or another service both parties agree to in writing. Class actions, collective actions, and representative actions are waived.5TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty

One exception: if you bought the shingles for personal or household use, either side can choose small claims court instead, as long as the case stays an individual action.

Watch the deadline. Any action related to the shingles or the warranty must be brought within one year after the cause of action first arose. Miss that window and the claim is gone.5TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO Fiberglass Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty

Buying or Selling a Home With a TAMKO Roof

If you’re buying a house with a TAMKO roof, the warranty may transfer to you, but only if the original owner follows TAMKO’s process. Standard limited warranties allow one transfer, and the original owner must register it with TAMKO within 30 days of the property sale.1TAMKO. Warranty Center

To start a transfer, the original owner emails warranty@tamko.com or calls 800-441-7190. The notice needs the names of both the original owner and the new buyer, the property address, the original purchase date of the shingles, and the date of the property transfer. Some enhanced system warranties charge a $100 transfer fee.6TAMKO Building Products LLC. TAMKO MasterShield Enhanced Limited System Warranty

A transferred warranty can’t be transferred again. If the new owner later sells, the next buyer gets the roof as-is with no warranty coverage. And if the original owner never registered the transfer within 30 days, the warranty doesn’t carry forward at all. Worth confirming before you close.
