A charge from smartecarte.com on your card statement is a payment to Smarte Carte, Inc. for a self-service rental, most often a luggage cart, storage locker, stroller, or massage chair at an airport, mall, or transit hub. If the amount is wrong or the equipment failed, you can request a refund through an online form on the company’s website; refunds take two to four weeks to process.1Smarte Carte. Refunds

Why the Charge May Look Higher Than You Paid
Some cart locations give you a partial refund in coins when you return the cart to a kiosk return track. A Braille label on the cart shows the reward amount, and the kiosk’s reward cup dispenses coins once the cart is docked.8Smarte Carte. Coin Return End Not every location participates in that program.9Smarte Carte. Wanzl Kiosk The card is charged the full rental price regardless, so the statement reflects the gross amount rather than what you netted after the coin return.
How to Request a Refund
Smarte Carte handles refund requests through an online form, not by phone or email. Go to smartecarte.com/contact/refunds/ and pick the country where the rental happened, not where you live. The form asks for:1Smarte Carte. Refunds
- Your name, email, phone, and full mailing address
- The location and type of service
- The reason for the refund and a description of the problem, including the unit number or location of the unit
- The date the issue occurred
- The dollar amount you are requesting
The company says refunds take two to four weeks and warns that submitting duplicate requests can slow things down.1Smarte Carte. Refunds Nothing in the published refund page sets a deadline for filing, and the page does not indicate different handling for carts, lockers, or other services.

You can dispute the charge with your card issuer. Call the number on the back of your card, explain what happened, and send any documentation showing the date, location, and amount. Filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau is another route, though Smarte Carte currently holds a D- rating with the BBB, driven primarily by its failure to respond to five complaints filed against it.11Better Business Bureau.
