PayPal Instant Transfer: Fees, Limits, Speed, and Eligibility

A PayPal Instant Transfer moves money from your PayPal balance to a linked debit card or bank account in minutes for a fee of 1.75% of the amount sent, with a $0.25 minimum and a $25.00 maximum per transaction.1PayPal. What It Costs

The 1.75% fee is the same whether the money goes to a debit card or a bank account. Because the fee is capped at $25.00, larger transfers get a better percentage rate: on a $1,000 transfer you pay $17.50, but on the maximum $5,000 debit card transfer you still pay only $25.00. Anything above roughly $1,429 hits the cap.

The floor matters at the other end. A small $10 transfer still costs you $0.25, since 1.75% of $10 would be below the minimum fee. If you don’t need the money today, the standard transfer costs nothing.

Transfer Limits

Limits depend on where the money is going. Transfers to a debit card are tightly capped:

  • $5,000 per transaction
  • $5,000 per day
  • $5,000 per week
  • $15,000 per month
  • $1.00 minimum per transfer

Transfers directly to a linked bank account go up to $25,000 per transaction.3PayPal. What Bank Accounts and Debit Cards Are Eligible for Instant Transfer Notice that the weekly debit card limit matches the daily limit, so you can’t stack two $5,000 debit card transfers across different days in the same week. To move more than $5,000 at once, send it to a bank account instead.

Business accounts share the same instant transfer limits as personal accounts: $5,000 per transaction, day, and week to a debit card, $15,000 per month, and $25,000 per transaction to a bank account. PayPal does not raise these caps on request, because the limits are tied to the real-time rails the transfer rides on rather than to account standing.4PayPal. How Fast It Arrives

Most instant transfers land within about 30 minutes. If yours hasn’t arrived after 30 minutes, PayPal says to contact your bank, since the holdup is usually on the receiving side. Some banks take one to three business days to finalize settlement even after they receive the funds.2PayPal. Can I Transfer Money to My Debit Card5PayPal. Where’s My Withdrawal

One real advantage over standard transfers: real-time payment networks run 24/7, so weekends, holidays, and after-hours transfers go through without waiting for a business day.6PayPal. Which Cards and Banks Qualify

Not every debit card or bank account is eligible. Your bank has to participate in the real-time payment networks PayPal uses, and when you start a transfer PayPal shows which of your linked accounts qualify.3PayPal. What Bank Accounts and Debit Cards Are Eligible for Instant Transfer Prepaid cards generally are not supported. The supported list grows over time, so a bank that isn’t eligible today may be later.

How to Send One

From the dashboard, tap your balance and choose the option to transfer money. Pick instant, select the debit card or bank account, and enter the amount. A confirmation screen shows the fee and the net amount your bank will receive.

Check the amount and destination carefully. Once you confirm, you cannot cancel the transfer. PayPal’s automated system processes the withdrawal immediately, with no undo.7PayPal. Can I Cancel a Withdrawal From My PayPal Account

When a Transfer Gets Held or Rejected

PayPal can place a withdrawal under security review for up to 72 hours. Common triggers include receiving an unusually large payment just before withdrawing, logging in from a new device or network, an unverified account, or mismatched information on a linked card or bank account.8PayPal. Why Is My Withdrawal Being Held for Review A 72-hour hold wipes out the point of paying for speed, so finishing identity verification and keeping your linked account details accurate prevents the most common delays.

If your bank rejects the transfer because the account information was wrong, PayPal doesn’t charge a fee for the failed attempt and the money returns to your PayPal balance.1PayPal. PayPal Consumer Fees
