What You Need Before You Start

Two things: the MoneyPak number and your current mailing address. The number sits under the scratch-off area on the back of the package.4Green Dot. MoneyPak Green Dot uses it to confirm the balance is still there.

The form doesn’t ask you to upload a receipt, a photo of the package, or a copy of your ID, so you can complete it in a few minutes. If you’ve already scratched the number off and shared it with anyone, treat it like cash from that point on. Whoever has the number can redeem it, and once that happens the refund window closes.

If the package is lost or the number can’t be read, the online form won’t help. Call Green Dot at (866) 795-7597 instead.

How to Fill Out the Form

The form lives at secure.moneypak.com/profile/refund/request.5MoneyPak. MoneyPak Deposit Troubleshooting It collects the following:2MoneyPak. Refund Request

  • The MoneyPak number. Enter every digit carefully. A typo means Green Dot can’t find your balance.
  • First and last name. Use your legal name, since the check will be made out exactly as you type it and you’ll need matching ID to cash it.
  • Mailing address. Street, apartment or suite, city, state, and ZIP. A P.O. box works if you’ll still have access to it a couple of weeks out.
  • Mobile phone number. Green Dot may use it if there’s a question about your request.
  • Reason for refund. Pick from the dropdown: card won’t accept the MoneyPak, wanted to load PayPal or another online account, no longer need to send money, mistaken purchase, or other.
  • Additional comments. A free-text field. If the situation is unusual, say a card that should have worked kept rejecting the deposit, describe it briefly and specifically.

Submit when everything is filled in. Save or screenshot any confirmation or case number that appears on the next screen. You’ll want that reference if you need to follow up.

When the Check Arrives

Green Dot says refund checks typically arrive within 7 to 14 days of submission.1Green Dot. Can I Get a Refund on My MoneyPak The troubleshooting page uses similar language, noting refunds take up to two weeks to arrive.5MoneyPak. MoneyPak Deposit Troubleshooting That window covers both review and mailing, so there isn’t a separate approval waiting period after that.

The refund comes as a paper check to the address you entered. Green Dot doesn’t offer direct deposit, prepaid card credit, or any digital alternative. If you don’t have a bank account, most retailers and check-cashing outlets will cash it, usually for a small fee.

If two weeks pass and nothing arrives, ask your mail carrier first, then call Green Dot at (866) 795-7597 with the confirmation or case number from your submission.

If Your Refund Is Denied

The usual reason for denial is that the balance was already redeemed. Once someone enters the MoneyPak number on a compatible card, the funds transfer instantly and there’s nothing left to return. This can happen even if you didn’t authorize it. If the number was exposed and someone else used it before your request went through, the money is gone.

If you think a denial was wrong, call Green Dot at (866) 795-7597 and ask for the specific reason. Beyond that, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which handles prepaid card products, at consumerfinance.gov/complaint or (855) 411-2372.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Submit a Complaint The CFPB forwards the complaint to the company and asks for a response, which can move a case that a standard support call didn’t.

One boundary worth naming: if someone tricked you into reading the MoneyPak number over the phone as part of a scam, the refund form won’t recover the money.
