Invesco Withdrawal Form: Amount, Payment, and Delivery

The Invesco withdrawal form is a paper redemption request you send to Invesco’s transfer agent to pull money out of a mutual fund account. Which version you use depends on whether the account is retirement or non-retirement, and whether certain details about the payment make a signature guarantee necessary. For straightforward withdrawals under $250,000 per fund going to your address or bank already on file, you don’t need the form at all; a phone call to 1-800-959-4246 or a login at invesco.com/us will do it. The form becomes necessary once the amount, destination, or recent account changes push the request outside those limits.

Which Form You Need

Invesco uses different redemption forms depending on the tax status of the account:

  • The Non-Retirement Account Redemption Form covers individual, joint, and trust accounts.
  • The IRA Distribution Form covers traditional, Roth, SEP, and SIMPLE IRAs.
  • The IRA Required Minimum Distribution form is a separate document for setting up a one-time or systematic annual RMD.

If your account is a 401(k), 403(b), or other employer-sponsored plan, Invesco’s standard retail forms won’t apply. Those plans run on their own vesting schedules and distribution rules, so the paperwork comes from your employer’s HR department.

All of Invesco’s forms are available on the forms and literature page at invesco.com, organized by account type.1Invesco. Invesco Forms and Literature If you have online access, you can also pull them from the secure participant portal.

What You Fill In

The non-retirement and IRA versions ask for the same core information: your name, Social Security number, date of birth, mailing address, and Invesco account number. You also have to identify the fund by name. If you own shares in more than one fund under the same account, each is a separate position and has to be listed on its own.

How Much to Redeem

You can request a full liquidation, a specific dollar amount, or a specific number of shares. For non-retirement accounts, you also need to confirm your cost basis method if it isn’t already on file. The prospectus requires you to specify either the cost basis method or the specific shares being redeemed, for tax reporting.2Invesco. Invesco Fund Prospectus – Redeeming Shares Common choices are first-in, first-out (FIFO), where the oldest shares sell first, and average cost, which divides your total investment by the number of shares you own. The method you choose directly affects the capital gains you’ll report.

How You Want the Money Paid

The form offers a few delivery options: a check mailed to your address on record, an ACH electronic transfer to a bank account already linked to the account, or a wire transfer. ACH deposits generally arrive within two to three business days.3Invesco. Non-Retirement Account Redemption Form Checks take longer because of mail time. Sending proceeds to an address, a bank, or a person not already on file is possible, but it triggers the signature guarantee requirement discussed below.

Tax Withholding (IRA Form Only)

The IRA Distribution Form includes federal and state withholding elections. The default federal withholding on nonperiodic retirement distributions is 10%, per IRS Form W-4R.4Internal Revenue Service. Form W-4R – Withholding Certificate for Nonperiodic Payments and Eligible Rollover Distributions You can elect anywhere from 0% to 100% by completing the withholding section. State rules vary: some states require mandatory withholding, others follow the federal election, and others don’t withhold at all. Whatever you choose, remember the 10% default is only withholding, not your final tax bill. If you’re in a higher bracket, the balance comes due when you file.

When You Need a Medallion Signature Guarantee

Invesco’s transfer agent requires a Medallion Signature Guarantee (not just a notary stamp) in four situations:2Invesco. Invesco Fund Prospectus – Redeeming Shares

  • Redemption proceeds exceed $250,000 per fund.
  • Proceeds go to someone other than the registered account owner.
  • Proceeds are sent to an address or bank different from what’s on file.
  • Your address on file changed within the last 15 days.

A Medallion stamp is stronger than a standard notary acknowledgment. You can only get it from a financial institution — a commercial bank, credit union, or broker-dealer — that participates in a recognized Medallion program.5Investor.gov. Medallion Signature Guarantees: Preventing the Unauthorized Transfer of Securities The institution stamps the form and accepts financial liability if the signature turns out to be fraudulent. Call ahead to confirm your bank participates, since not every branch does, and some require an appointment.

Where to Send the Form

Completed forms go to Invesco Investment Services in Kansas City:6Invesco US. Invesco Contact Us

  • Regular mail: Invesco Investment Services, Inc., P.O. Box 219078, Kansas City, MO 64121-9078
  • Overnight or courier delivery: Invesco Investment Services, Inc., 801 Pennsylvania Ave, Suite 219078, Kansas City, MO 64105-1307

If the form carries a Medallion stamp or a large dollar amount, use an overnight service with tracking. A lost form with a Medallion guarantee means starting the guarantee process over at the bank. Some accounts support secure document upload through the online portal, but signature-guarantee situations usually still require the original stamped form by mail.

How Long It Takes to Get Paid

Invesco’s transfer agent typically pays redemption proceeds within one business day after receiving a request “in good order.”2Invesco. Invesco Fund Prospectus – Redeeming Shares In good order means the form is complete, signatures check out, any required Medallion guarantee is in place, and the account details match Invesco’s records. A missing field, the wrong form, or a missing signature guarantee will bounce the request back and reset the clock.

From there, delivery time depends on your choice. ACH transfers typically take two to three business days to reach your bank. Mailed checks add roughly a week of transit time. You can track status in your online account or by calling 1-800-959-4246. Phone redemptions and online redemptions must be submitted before the fund’s daily NAV calculation, generally 4:00 p.m. ET, to receive that day’s price; the same cutoff applies to orders placed through a financial adviser.

Extra Rules for Retirement Accounts

Early-Withdrawal Penalty

Withdrawing from a traditional IRA or other qualified retirement plan before age 59½ triggers a 10% additional federal tax on top of ordinary income tax on the taxable portion, unless an exception applies.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 26 USC 72 – Annuities; Certain Proceeds of Endowment and Life Insurance Contracts Exceptions that eliminate the 10% include:

  • Death or disability of the account owner
  • Substantially equal periodic payments under IRS Rule 72(t), which must continue for at least five years or until age 59½, whichever is longer
  • Separation from service after age 55 (employer plans only, not IRAs)
  • Qualified birth or adoption distributions
  • IRS levy against the retirement account
  • Terminal illness

The IRA Distribution Form asks the reason for the withdrawal so Invesco can determine whether the penalty applies. The distribution gets reported on Form 1099-R regardless.

Required Minimum Distributions

If you hold a traditional IRA or employer retirement plan with Invesco and have reached the mandatory distribution age, you have to take an annual withdrawal whether you want to or not. The current RMD starting age is 73 for most account holders, with a further change to age 75 in 2033 under the SECURE 2.0 Act for individuals born after 1959.8Internal Revenue Service. Retirement Plan and IRA Required Minimum Distributions FAQs

Invesco’s dedicated IRA Required Minimum Distribution form lets you set up a one-time RMD or a systematic annual RMD that repeats each year. Missing an RMD carries a 25% excise tax on the amount you should have withdrawn, reduced to 10% if you fix the shortfall within the IRS correction window.9Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 26 USC 4974 – Excise Tax on Certain Accumulations in Qualified Retirement Plans If you’re approaching 73, setting up a systematic RMD before your first deadline keeps the paperwork from catching you off guard.
