To get your DoorDash 1099 form, log in to Stripe Express, the portal DoorDash uses to deliver tax documents to Dashers. Your 1099-NEC is posted there by January 31 each year, and you can view and download it as a PDF once it’s available. DoorDash issues the form only if you earned $600 or more from the platform during the tax year.1Internal Revenue Service. Set Up Your Stripe Express Account First
Stripe Express is a third-party financial platform, and you need an active account there before you can see your 1099. Early in the year, Stripe emails an invitation to the address linked to your DoorDash account. Follow the link, create your login, and verify your identity. During setup you confirm your legal name, mailing address, and taxpayer identification number.3Stripe. Stripe Express Help and Support
Enter your name and address exactly as they appear on your government records. Mismatches can delay the form or trigger processing errors. The portal uses multi-factor authentication, so keep the phone or email you registered accessible. Didn’t see the invitation? Check spam first, then look for a direct link through the DoorDash help center. Getting the account set up before January means you have access the moment the form is posted.
Download the 1099-NEC From Stripe Express
Once your account is active and your details are confirmed, the 1099-NEC appears in the portal as soon as DoorDash files it. Log in and go to the Tax Forms section, which shows documents for the current and prior tax years. Click download to save the form as a PDF. From there you can print it or upload it directly into your tax preparation software.
If the form shows as available but the download link is grayed out, there is usually a pending step, such as confirming your taxpayer details. Finish any outstanding prompts and the download should unlock. Save a copy somewhere secure so you have it for your records.
The 1099-NEC total covers everything DoorDash paid you through the app during the year:
- Base pay for each delivery
- Promotions like Peak Pay and challenge bonuses
- Customer tips processed through the platform
The form also has state information boxes that DoorDash may fill in depending on where you dashed.4Internal Revenue Service. Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC
Getting a Paper Copy by Mail
If you don’t opt into electronic delivery through Stripe Express, DoorDash mails a paper copy to the address on file. Paper forms go out by the January 31 deadline but can take a week or more to arrive.1Internal Revenue Service. What Businesses Need to Know About Reporting Nonemployee Compensation and Backup Withholding to the IRS If you moved since you started dashing, update your address in the DoorDash app and in Stripe Express before the mailing window. Otherwise your form ends up at the old address.
If You Didn’t Receive a 1099
Two things can explain a missing form. The first is that you earned under $600 from DoorDash during the year, in which case no 1099-NEC is issued.1Internal Revenue Service. What Businesses Need to Know About Reporting Nonemployee Compensation and Backup Withholding to the IRS You still owe taxes on that income and report it on Schedule C.2Internal Revenue Service. Instructions for Schedule C (Form 1040) This matters if you drive for more than one gig platform: you might earn $400 from DoorDash and $300 from another app, get no 1099 from either, and still owe tax on the full $700.
The second explanation is that the form was sent but you didn’t see it. Check the spam folder for the Stripe invitation, confirm you finished the account setup, and make sure the email and mailing address DoorDash has on file are current. If you crossed the $600 threshold and still can’t find your form after January 31, contact DoorDash support through the help center.
Fixing Errors on Your 1099
Compare the income total on your 1099-NEC against the earnings history in your DoorDash driver app. If the numbers don’t match, or your name or taxpayer identification number is wrong, contact DoorDash support through the help center and request a corrected form. Have bank statements or app screenshots ready, because support needs evidence of the discrepancy.
