To get your Cash App tax documents, open the app and tap the profile icon, or log in at cash.app on a computer, then go to the Documents section and download the form that matches your activity. Cash App can issue up to four different forms depending on what you did with your account: a 1099-K for business payments, a 1099-DA for Bitcoin sales, a 1099-B for stock sales through Cash App Investing, and a 1099-INT if you earned at least $10 in interest.1Internal Revenue Service. Download Your Forms Inside the Cash App
Update the app to the latest version before you start. Older versions may not display the documents section correctly, and you’ll need a verified email address on the account so Cash App can notify you when forms are ready.
The path through the app differs slightly by form type.

If you’d rather work on a computer, go to cash.app and log in with your phone number or email. Cash App sends a one-time verification code by text or email to confirm your identity.

When Your Forms Become Available
Cash App follows the IRS delivery deadlines, and the timing depends on the form.
- 1099-K and 1099-INT: standard deadline of January 31. When that date falls on a weekend, it shifts to the next business day; for 2026 the deadline is February 2.6Internal Revenue Service. General Instructions for Certain Information Returns (2025)
- 1099-B and 1099-DA: February 15, which shifts to February 17 for 2026. Brokers get the extra time to finalize cost basis calculations.6Internal Revenue Service. General Instructions for Certain Information Returns (2025)
If a form still isn’t in your documents section after these dates, contact Cash App support through the app. The IRS can grant a financial institution an additional 30 days in rare cases.6Internal Revenue Service. General Instructions for Certain Information Returns (2025) Don’t wait indefinitely to file. You can file from your own records and amend later if the form arrives with different numbers.
Which Form to Expect
Not every user gets every form. What lands in your documents section depends on what you did during the year.
- A 1099-K arrives only if you have a Cash App business account and your gross payments exceeded $20,000 across more than 200 transactions in the calendar year. Both conditions must be met at the federal level. Some states set lower thresholds, so you may receive a 1099-K for state purposes even when federal rules don’t trigger one.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 26 USC 6050W – Returns Relating to Payments Made in Settlement of Payment Card and Third Party Network Transactions
- A 1099-DA arrives if you sold Bitcoin, with one form per sale.3Cash App. Bitcoin and Taxes
- A 1099-B arrives if you sold any stock through Cash App Investing.5Internal Revenue Service. About Form 1099-B, Proceeds From Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions
- A 1099-INT arrives if you earned at least $10 in interest through savings features.1Internal Revenue Service. About Form 1099-INT, Interest Income
Personal payments between friends and family — splitting a check, getting repaid for rent, receiving a gift — are not taxable income and should not appear on a 1099-K.8Internal Revenue Service. Understanding Your Form 1099-K Mark those payments as personal in the app when you have the option, so business revenue and personal transfers stay separated. Note that income is still taxable and must be reported on your return whether or not Cash App sends you a form.9Internal Revenue Service. What to Do With Form 1099-K
Downloading a Bitcoin Gain Loss CSV
Cash App does not report Bitcoin cost basis to the IRS, so you’re responsible for tracking gains and losses yourself.3Cash App. Bitcoin and Taxes To help with that, Cash App offers a Gain Loss CSV that lists cost basis and gain or loss for each transaction using FIFO (first-in, first-out) accounting.
To download it, tap the profile icon, select Documents, tap Bitcoin, then tap Gain Loss CSV.10Cash App. Accessing Your Cash App Gain Loss CSV The file imports into most third-party tax software. If you want to use an accounting method other than FIFO, download the broader Transaction CSV instead and calculate gains and losses from that raw history.
If a Form Is Missing or Wrong
If you receive a 1099-K with an incorrect amount, or one that sweeps in personal payments, contact Cash App directly to request a corrected form. The IRS cannot fix the form; only the issuer can.9Internal Revenue Service. What to Do With Form 1099-K Keep the original form and any correspondence you have with Cash App about the correction.
If a corrected 1099-K won’t arrive before your filing deadline, file anyway. Report the incorrect gross amount from the 1099-K on Schedule 1 (Form 1040), then adjust the amount on the same form to reflect your actual taxable income. That way the IRS sees both the reported figure and your explanation for the difference.9Internal Revenue Service. What to Do With Form 1099-K
For a 1099-B with the wrong cost basis on a stock sale, use Form 8949 to report the correct basis: enter the basis from the 1099-B in column (e), use code B in column (f) to flag the error, and enter the adjustment in column (g).11Internal Revenue Service. Instructions for Form 8949 Your 1099-B may also show a wash sale adjustment in box 1g if you sold a stock at a loss and repurchased a substantially identical security within 30 days before or after the sale; that disallowed loss gets added to the basis of the replacement shares.12Internal Revenue Service. Instructions for Form 1099-B (2026)
Whatever form you’re chasing, download it as soon as it posts and check the numbers against your own records before you file. The IRS matches its copy of every 1099 against your return, and an unexplained gap will show up as a notice later.13Taxpayer Advocate Service. Underreported Income
