How to Fill Out the Rally Credit Union Direct Deposit Form

To set up direct deposit at Rally Credit Union, complete a short authorization form using Rally’s routing number 314978543, your account number, and your account type, then hand the signed form to your employer’s payroll department. You can use Rally’s own direct deposit form, which comes inside the Switch Kit on rallycu.com, or a form your employer provides. Either way, the information Rally needs you to supply is the same.1Rally Credit Union. Rally Switch Kit

Where to Get the Form

Rally publishes a downloadable Switch Kit that includes a direct deposit change form, an automatic payment transfer form, and an account-closing letter. Download it from rallycu.com or pick up a printed copy at any branch.1Rally Credit Union. Rally Switch Kit If your employer hands you a generic direct deposit form of their own, use that instead. The fields differ slightly, but the Rally-specific numbers you write in are identical.

What You Need Before You Start

Have these details in front of you:

  • Rally’s routing number: 314978543. This nine-digit number identifies Rally in the ACH system and is printed on every page of rallycu.com and on the Switch Kit itself.2Rally Credit Union. Rally Credit Union
  • Your Rally account number. This is not the number on your debit card. Sign in to online banking, select the account tile, and click “Details and Settings” to see the full number. You can also call Rally at 800-622-3631 and a representative will verify your identity and read it to you.3Rally Credit Union. Member Tools and Services
  • Your account type: checking, savings, or money market. The type has to match the account number you list.
  • Your Social Security number and Employee ID. Rally’s form has fields for both.1Rally Credit Union. Rally Switch Kit
  • Your employer’s company name, address, and phone number.

A wrong routing or account number is the most common reason a direct deposit fails. When an ACH item can’t be posted, the receiving institution returns it, and returns typically process within two banking days. Your employer then has to reissue the payment, which stretches the delay further.4Nacha. How ACH Payments Work Verify both numbers against your online banking screen before you hand the form over.

Filling Out the Form

Rally’s Switch Kit form fits on a single page. Work top to bottom.

Start with your employer’s information: company name, street address, city, state, zip, and phone number. Then complete your personal details: full legal name, address, Employee ID or the ID number your employer uses for you, and Social Security number.1Rally Credit Union. Rally Switch Kit

Next is the deposit section. Check whether the deposit goes to checking, savings, or money market, and enter your Rally account number. If you want your whole paycheck deposited into one account, write “100%” or your full net pay in the amount field.

Sign and date the form at the bottom. Your signature authorizes both sides of the transaction. The form reads: “I authorize [employer/company] to make deposits to my Rally Credit Union account(s) as indicated above and authorize the credit union to accept such deposits.”1Rally Credit Union. Splitting Your Deposit Across Accounts

Rally’s form has room for more than one account line. To send a fixed amount into savings and the rest into checking, list both accounts with a dollar amount or percentage next to each. Many payroll systems accept three deposit instructions: a specific dollar amount, a percentage, or “balance of net pay.” One account usually needs to be flagged as the catch-all for whatever remains after the fixed amounts are distributed.

If your employer’s own form shows only one account line, ask payroll whether their system supports split deposits through a separate online portal. Many do, even when the paper form suggests otherwise.

Submitting the Form

Give the completed form to your employer’s human resources or payroll department. Rally does not process the form for you, because the authorization has to go through whoever issues the payment.1Rally Credit Union. Rally Switch Kit

Many employers ask for a voided check so they can double-check the numbers. If you don’t have checks, a screenshot or printout from Rally’s online banking showing your name, the routing number, and your account number works for most payroll departments. Rally can also send you a letter confirming the account details on request.5Nacha. Direct Deposit Without a Voided Check? Absolutely!

Payroll departments usually need one to two full pay cycles to activate a new direct deposit. Expect at least one more paper check or manual payment during that window. Follow up with your payroll coordinator after you submit to confirm the form was entered into the system, which catches most processing errors early.

Once your direct deposit is active, Rally automatically enrolls you in Early Pay Day, so funds post as soon as Rally receives the deposit notification rather than on the official settlement date. No separate sign-up is required.6Rally Credit Union. Early Pay Day

Social Security, VA, and Other Government Payments

Rally’s form is for employer payroll. Do not send it to the Social Security Administration, the VA, or the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. For those payments, contact the paying agency directly and give them Rally’s routing number and your account number.1Rally Credit Union. Rally Switch Kit Social Security beneficiaries can start or change direct deposit at ssa.gov/myaccount, by contacting Rally about the Automated Enrollment (ENR) process, or by visiting a local Social Security field office.7Social Security Administration. Direct Deposit For a tax refund, put the routing and account numbers directly on your tax return rather than filing a separate form.

If a Deposit Is Missing or Delayed

If payday arrives and nothing lands, start with your employer’s payroll schedule. First-time direct deposits often take an extra cycle, and some employers run a small test deposit before sending the full amount. Ask payroll where the payment stands.

If the deposit should have gone through and didn’t, a wrong routing or account number is usually the reason. ACH returns for bad account information generally process within two banking days of the original settlement date, and your employer then has to reissue payment.4Nacha. How ACH Payments Work

If a misdirected deposit causes overdraft fees or bounced payments, call Rally to explain what happened. When the error started with your employer or their payroll processor, that party may be liable for the resulting charges. Keep records of any fees; they help if you need reimbursement.

Changing or Canceling Direct Deposit Later

To move your direct deposit to a different account, submit a new form to your employer with the updated information. The new instruction replaces the old one once it takes effect. Keep your old Rally account open until you have confirmed at least one successful deposit into the new account. Close it too early and the deposit will bounce back to your employer, who then has to reissue a paper check.

To stop direct deposit altogether, notify your employer’s payroll department in writing. Rally charges no fee to start, change, or stop a direct deposit. For help verifying account details along the way, call Rally at 800-622-3631 or send a secure message through online banking.
