How to Fill Out the Fortnite Refund Claim Form: Status and Scams

The Fortnite refund claim form is closed. The Federal Trade Commission stopped accepting submissions after July 9, 2025, and there is no appeals process for anyone who missed that deadline. If you filed in time, your claim is either already paid or still under review, with additional payments expected in 2026.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds

The form was part of a $245 million settlement with Epic Games. The FTC alleged Epic used confusing button layouts and menu designs to trick players into buying items they never intended to purchase, let children charge parents’ credit cards without any password or approval, and locked accounts of customers who disputed the charges with their banks.2Federal Trade Commission. Who the Form Was For

The settlement covered three groups. You only needed to fit one:

  • You were charged for in-game items you did not want between January 2017 and September 2022.
  • Your child made purchases on your credit card without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • Your account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit card company about wrongful charges.

The FTC identified eligible consumers through Epic’s transaction records and emailed those who appeared to qualify a unique 15-digit Claimant ID to use on the settlement portal.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds

If You Already Filed

In June 2025, the FTC sent 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million to players who submitted valid claims by February 14, 2025.3Federal Trade Commission. No specific date has been announced.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds

Payments arrive in the method you chose on the claim form, and the collection windows are short:

  • Checks must be cashed within 90 days of the issue date.
  • PayPal payments must be accepted within 30 days of receipt.

If a payment notification is already sitting in your inbox or on your desk, act on it. The FTC has not said what happens to money left uncollected, so an expired check or ignored PayPal transfer may simply be gone.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds

Amounts vary. The FTC distributes the fund pro rata, so each recipient gets a share of their verified loss rather than a flat sum. Your payout depends on how much you were charged for unwanted items and how many valid claims are in the pool.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds Dividing the first round’s $126 million across roughly 969,000 payments works out to about $130 per person on average, though individual checks run higher and lower.

How to Check on a Claim

The FTC updates the official refund page at ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/fortnite-refunds as new information becomes available. For questions about a specific claim, call the refund administrator directly at 1-833-915-0880.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds

Watch for Scams

The FTC will never demand money from you, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise a prize in connection with this settlement.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds Anyone asking you to pay a fee to unlock your refund is running a scam.

Common red flags include emails asking you to click a link to verify your identity on a site that isn’t ftc.gov, social media posts claiming the claims window has reopened, and calls asking for your bank information. The only legitimate ways to check on a refund are the FTC’s official page and the 1-833-915-0880 line. Real payments arrive by mailed check or PayPal credit. The FTC will not ask for gift card numbers or upfront payment of any kind.

What the Order Changed at Epic Going Forward

The consent order requires Epic to get affirmative consent before charging players, meaning a clear confirmation step before any purchase goes through. Epic is also banned from locking players out of their accounts because they disputed charges with their bank. These requirements apply indefinitely, not just during the refund period.1Federal Trade Commission. Fortnite Refunds

For parents, that means the accidental one-tap purchases that drove this enforcement action should no longer be possible in the current interface. If unauthorized charges do show up, you can dispute them with your bank without losing access to the account.
