The Delta Community Credit Union direct deposit form is a one-page letter you fill out and hand to your employer’s payroll department to redirect your paycheck into your Delta Community checking account. The credit union’s routing number is 261071315, and the form is available as a free PDF on Delta Community’s Forms and Applications page. The form is written as a change request, so if this is your first time setting up direct deposit at a new job, check with HR first — many employers have their own enrollment form or an internal payroll portal they prefer you use.
What to Have in Front of You
Pull these together before you start writing:
- Delta Community’s routing number: 261071315. This nine-digit number is the same for every member.
- Your Delta Community checking account number. Log in to Online Banking, open your checking account, and click Account Details. The number labeled “ACH” is the one direct deposit uses.
- Your old bank’s name, routing number, and account number. The form asks what account you’re switching away from, so grab these from a recent statement.
- Your employer’s full legal name and mailing address.
- Your Social Security number or employee ID. The form has a line for additional identifiers, and payroll usually needs at least one of these to match the request to your file.
One easy mistake to avoid: if your Delta Community account number includes a dash, use only the digits before the dash. The digits after it are not part of your ACH account number, and including them will cause the deposit to reject.
Where to Get the Form
Downloading the PDF from Delta Community’s website is the fastest option. The form itself says to make as many photocopies as you need. Any Delta Community branch in metro Atlanta can hand you a paper copy if you’d rather pick one up.
Before you fill anything in, confirm your employer actually accepts this form. The form itself tells you to check. Larger employers often require you to enter your routing and account numbers directly into an internal payroll portal, in which case the Delta Community PDF is unnecessary. If your employer uses a portal, the only two pieces of information you need from Delta Community are the routing number (261071315) and your ACH account number from Online Banking.
Filling In Each Section
The form is a single page formatted as a letter to your employer. Work from top to bottom.
At the top, write the date and your employer’s full name and mailing address.
Circle whether you want your entire paycheck deposited or only part of it. This matters because if you split your pay across accounts, payroll needs to know Delta Community is receiving a portion rather than the whole amount. The form has no field for the specific dollar amount or percentage of a partial deposit, so you’ll need to note that separately or enter it through your employer’s payroll system.
In the Old Bank section, write the name, routing number, and account number of the institution you’re moving away from. Fill in all three lines so payroll knows which deposit to stop.
Under the new deposit information, write “Delta Community Credit Union” as the financial institution, enter 261071315 as the routing number, and write in your checking account number. Circle whether you prefer to be contacted during the day or evening, and add a phone number in case payroll has questions.
Sign and date the bottom, print your name clearly beneath the signature, and write your home address. On the final line, labeled “Other Information Your Employer May Need,” enter the identifiers payroll requires. For most people that’s a Social Security number, an employee ID, or both.
Where to Submit It
The completed form goes to your employer, not to Delta Community. Hand it to HR or payroll, upload it through your company’s payroll portal, or send it by secure email to your benefits coordinator. The credit union has no role in processing it; the transaction is between you and your employer’s payroll team.
Before you turn it in, read every digit of the routing and account numbers aloud while pointing at each one. Visual scanning misses transpositions that reading aloud catches, and a single wrong digit sends your paycheck to someone else’s account.
What Happens After You Submit
Payroll systems usually send a prenote first. That’s a zero-dollar test transaction that confirms your routing and account numbers are valid before real money moves. The standard prenote window under NACHA rules is three banking days. If no rejection comes back from Delta Community in that window, your account is cleared for live deposits.
How soon the first real deposit arrives depends on your employer’s payroll cycle. If you submit the form midway through a pay period, the prenote may not go out until the next payroll run, and your first real deposit may not land until the cycle after that. Some employers skip the prenote entirely and send a live deposit on the next payday. Ask payroll what to expect so you aren’t surprised when your old account stops receiving deposits before the new one starts.
Keep your old bank account open and funded until you’ve seen at least one successful deposit at Delta Community. Closing the old account early can cause a returned payment with no clear place for your money to land.
If a Deposit Is Missing or Delayed
If payday comes and your Delta Community account is empty, call your employer first. Payroll can confirm whether the deposit was submitted, what routing and account numbers were used, and whether a prenote rejection came back. Most missing-deposit problems are data entry errors on the payroll side.
If payroll confirms the deposit was sent but it still hasn’t appeared, contact Delta Community. ACH transactions are occasionally delayed by a banking holiday or a daily processing cutoff.
If a deposit went to the wrong account because of an error, Regulation E gives you a path to recover it. Once you notify your financial institution of an electronic transfer error, it has 10 business days to investigate and three business days after that to report back. The institution can extend to 45 days if the investigation takes longer, but it must provisionally credit your account within the first 10 business days so you aren’t left without funds.1eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.11 – Procedures for Resolving Errors You have 60 days from the date your statement showing the error was sent to report it; after that, the institution isn’t required to investigate.
Splitting Pay Between Multiple Accounts
If you want part of your paycheck going to Delta Community and the rest to another bank, you’ll almost certainly set that up through your employer’s payroll system rather than this form. Most payroll platforms let you designate multiple deposit accounts, each with either a fixed dollar amount or a percentage of your net pay.
The standard approach is to designate one account as the remaining balance account. That’s the catch-all that receives whatever is left after any fixed-amount distributions are processed. Fixed-dollar allocations run first, then percentage splits. If you set a $500 fixed deposit to savings and name Delta Community as the remaining balance account, Delta Community receives everything after that $500 comes out.
On a smaller-than-usual paycheck, fixed-dollar accounts only receive what’s available. If your net pay is $400 but you have a $500 fixed allocation to another account, that account gets $400 and your remaining-balance account gets nothing. Build in some cushion when you set the amounts.
Federal Benefits Use a Different Form
If you receive Social Security, VA disability compensation, or another federal benefit, the Delta Community change form isn’t the right one. Federal agencies use Standard Form 1199A, the Direct Deposit Sign-Up Form.
Fill out Sections 1 and 2 of the SF-1199A with your personal information, the type of federal payment, and your Delta Community account details. Then bring or mail the form to any Delta Community branch. The credit union completes Section 3 to verify the routing number and account, then mails the finished form to the paying agency for you.
Veterans updating direct deposit for VA disability compensation or pension payments have another option. You can change your banking information directly in your VA.gov profile without any paper form: log in, go to your profile, and enter Delta Community’s routing number (261071315) and your account number. The VA also accepts changes by phone (TTY at 711) Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET, or in person at a VA regional office.2Veterans Affairs. Change Your Direct Deposit Information
