The YES Bank account closure form is a one-page request you complete and hand in at your branch to permanently shut a savings or current account. You can download the PDF from the YES BANK Form Centre or pick up a blank copy at any branch.1YES BANK. Form Centre Submission is in person only; the form needs original signatures and the branch officer’s stamp.
Where to Get the Form
On the YES BANK Form Centre page, the form is listed under the “Account Closure” heading as a downloadable PDF.1YES BANK. Form Centre Print it, fill it in at home, and bring it to the branch where your account is held. If printing isn’t convenient, ask the branch for a blank copy when you arrive.
What to Settle Before You File It
The branch officer runs an internal check to confirm every service linked to the account has been removed, so clearing these in advance keeps you from making a second trip.2YES BANK. YES BANK Account Closure Form
- Cancel any Standing Instructions, CMS mandates, and NACH services linked to the account.
- Stop any active SIPs and request closure of the linked Investment Services Account; the form has a field where you confirm this.
- If a loan EMI debits from this account, either close the loan or switch the debit to another bank account.
- Business customers with a POS or EDC terminal attached to the account need a delinking confirmation from the POS unit.
- Clear any holds or liens. A fixed deposit or locker security deposit marked as a lien on your savings account has to be resolved separately first.
- Collect your unused cheque leaves and debit card to surrender at the branch. If you’ve lost them, you can sign a declaration on the form confirming they’ve been destroyed.
Filling Out the Form
The form has a customer section and a bank verification section. You complete only the customer portion.
Account Details
Enter your Customer ID, account number, and account type. Your Customer ID appears on your passbook, welcome letter, and internet banking dashboard. A wrong ID is the fastest way to stall the request, so check it against a recent statement.2YES BANK. YES BANK Account Closure Form
Reason for Closure
Tick one of the checkboxes (relocation, salary account change, service charges, consolidating accounts, unhappy with service, and several others) or write your own reason under “Others.” The bank uses this for internal retention tracking; the choice does not affect whether your closure is approved.2YES BANK. How You Want the Balance Paid Out
The form gives you four options for receiving the remaining balance:2YES BANK. YES BANK Account Closure Form
- Cash, available only if the balance is below Rs. 20,000.
- Demand draft, with the payable city and payee name you specify.
- Transfer to another YES BANK account, with the destination account number.
- NEFT or RTGS to another bank, with the beneficiary name, account number, account type, IFSC code, and branch name.
If your balance is Rs. 20,000 or more, cash isn’t available. For an outside-bank transfer, verify the IFSC carefully; a wrong code bounces the transfer back to an account that is being closed, which creates a problem to untangle later.
Signatures
An individual holder signs at the bottom. On a joint account, every holder must sign; a missing signature invalidates the request. Companies, trusts, and partnerships sign according to their Mode of Operation and affix the entity seal.2YES BANK. YES BANK Account Closure Form
Submitting the Form at Your Branch
Take the completed form, your unused cheque leaves, and your debit card to the branch where the account is held. The officer verifies your signature, confirms linked services are off, and stamps the form.2YES BANK. YES BANK Account Closure Form
If you’re closing within one year of opening the account, the branch manager reviews the request and signs an additional annexure (Annexure 1) attached to the form. This is an internal escalation; you don’t need to bring anything extra, but it may add a few minutes to the visit.2YES BANK. YES BANK Account Closure Form
Ask for an acknowledgment receipt before you leave. Keep it in case any dispute over residual fees comes up. The bank then works out the final balance, adding pro-rata interest and deducting the closure fee, and sends you the proceeds using the method you selected.
What Account Closure Costs
YES Bank’s savings account schedule of charges sets closure fees by how long the account has been open:3YES BANK. Savings Account Schedule of Charges
- Within 30 days of account activation: free.
- Between 30 days and one year: Rs. 500.
- After one year: free.
The fee only applies in that middle window. If you’re closing an older account, there is no charge.
Closing a Joint Account
Every joint holder has to sign the closure form. If one holder isn’t available, the branch won’t process the request. All holders also need to agree on the payout method shown on the form. If the holders can’t come to the branch on the same day, ask whether the branch manager will accept signatures collected across separate visits; this is at the manager’s discretion.2YES BANK. If the Account Holder Has Died
This form is for the account holder closing their own account. When the holder has passed away, the money is released through a separate claim settlement process rather than the closure form, and the paperwork depends on whether a nominee or survivorship clause was registered. Nominees and survivors file a claim form with the death certificate and KYC; where there is no nominee, legal heirs file a different set of annexures, and the requirements step up for balances of Rs. 15 lakh or more. The claim annexures are on the Form Centre, and settlement for a complete nominee claim is within 15 calendar days.4YES BANK. Settlement of Claim in Deposit Accounts
