The WSFS direct deposit authorization form is a one-page PDF that tells your employer to send your pay into your WSFS checking or savings account through the ACH network. Download it from the WSFS Bank website or pick one up at a branch, fill in your personal and account details, sign it, and hand it to your payroll office.1WSFS Bank. Direct Deposit Authorization
What to Have Ready Before You Start
The form is short. Gathering a few details first keeps you from going back and forth with HR.
- WSFS routing number: 031100102. It is already printed on the form, and it also appears at the bottom left of any WSFS check or inside online banking.2WSFS Bank. Finding Your Routing Number – What You Need to Know
- Account number: On the bottom of your checks to the right of the routing number, or in WSFS online and mobile banking once you log in.3WSFS Bank. Where Can I View My Complete Routing and Account Number?
- Account type: Checking or savings. Picking the wrong one can cause the first deposit to bounce back.
- Voided check (optional): Some payroll offices ask for one as a second proof of your account details. If you don’t have paper checks, a screenshot from online banking or a call to WSFS at 888.973.7226 works just as well.4Nacha. Direct Deposit Without a Voided Check? Absolutely!
- Employer’s legal name: The one your company uses on payroll, which isn’t always the name on the sign out front.
One boundary worth noting. If you want federal benefits like Social Security, SSI, or VA compensation deposited into your WSFS account, this form isn’t the right one. Filling Out the Form
Customer Information
At the top, enter the company name, your full name as WSFS has it on file, your address, phone number, date of birth, and pay frequency (weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, or monthly). Match your name exactly to the WSFS account. A mismatch between what payroll transmits and what the bank expects is one of the most common reasons a first deposit fails.
Deposit Instructions
The middle of the form has three identical rows, each with a deposit amount, a destination account number, and a routing number field (already filled with 031100102). In each row you want to use, enter the dollar amount or percentage you want deposited and the WSFS account that should receive it.6WSFS Bank. WSFS Bank Direct Deposit Authorization
The three rows let you split your pay across accounts. You could send a fixed amount into savings on the first row and the rest of your paycheck into checking on the second. If you only need one account, use the first row and leave the others blank.
Signing and Submitting
Sign and date the bottom. Your signature authorizes your employer to send ACH credits to the accounts you listed. Under federal law, an electronic signature carries the same legal weight as an ink signature, so a digitally signed PDF is valid.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S. Code 7001 – General Rule of Validity Some payroll offices still insist on a wet signature, so check with HR before you print.
Deliver the form to payroll in person, or upload it through your employer’s secure payroll portal if one exists.5WSFS Bank. How Can I Set Up Direct Deposit to My Account? The form contains your account number and date of birth, so avoid sending it over unencrypted email. Keep a copy for yourself.
When the First Deposit Will Land
Most employers need one to two full pay cycles to activate a new direct deposit. During that window, you may still get a paper check while the payroll system verifies the account. Watch your WSFS account on the first expected payday. If nothing lands after two cycles, call payroll and confirm the form was processed and the account details were entered correctly.
Once direct deposit is active, employer deposits are typically available by 9 a.m. on payday.8Nacha. How ACH Payments Work WSFS also runs an Early Pay feature that can make eligible deposits available up to two days before the scheduled pay date. It is automatic for all personal checking, savings, and money market accounts in good standing that have been open at least 30 days, with no sign-up and no fee. Whether a given paycheck actually lands early depends on when your employer transmits the payroll file. One-time payments like tax refunds don’t qualify.9WSFS Bank. Early Pay To opt out of Early Pay, call WSFS at 888.973.7226.
Changing or Canceling Direct Deposit
To change where your pay lands, or to adjust how it’s split, fill out a new authorization form with the updated details and give it to payroll. Your old instructions stay in effect until the new ones take over, so there is no need to cancel first.
If you are switching banks, keep the WSFS account open until at least one full paycheck has posted successfully to the new bank. Close it too early and any deposit still in transit gets returned to your employer, which can cost you an extra pay cycle.
To cancel direct deposit without replacing it, notify your employer in writing. You can also contact WSFS directly to stop an incoming preauthorized transfer under Regulation E, but you have to do so at least three business days before the scheduled deposit date, and the bank may ask for written confirmation within 14 days.10eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers
If a Deposit Is Missing, Wrong, or Reversed
For any recurring direct deposit, WSFS has to give you a way to confirm the money arrived, whether by positive notice, telling you it didn’t arrive, or offering a phone line you can call.10eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers If you spot an error, a wrong amount, a duplicate, or a deposit that never posted, report it to WSFS within 60 days of the statement date that first showed the problem. The bank then has a set window to investigate and resolve it.11Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Procedures for Resolving Errors
The usual causes of a failed first deposit are a transposed digit in the account number, the wrong account type, or a name mismatch between the form and WSFS records. Checking those three fields before you hand the form over prevents most problems.
Employers can reverse a direct deposit only in narrow situations: a duplicate entry, the wrong recipient, a wrong dollar amount, or certain timing errors, and the reversal has to reach WSFS within five banking days of the original deposit’s settlement date. Any reversal outside those limits is improper. If one hits your account, give WSFS a written statement of unauthorized debit within 60 calendar days of the reversal’s settlement date, and the bank can return it on your behalf.12Nacha.
