How to Fill Out and Submit the SRP Cool Cash Rebate Form

To apply for the SRP Cool Cash rebate, complete SRP’s application with your account details, a paid invoice showing the AHRI reference number, a signed Contractor Terms and Conditions agreement, and (for single-stage systems) a Manual J worksheet, then submit it online through the SRP Rebate Center, by email, or by mail within six months of the installation date. The current program deadline for installations is April 30, 2026, and rebates run from $75 to $225 per ton depending on compressor type.

What the Rebate Pays

SRP pays by the ton (or half-ton) of nominal cooling capacity listed in the manufacturer’s specifications. Every qualifying unit must have a SEER2 rating of 15.2 or higher and appear in the AHRI Verified Directories.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates

  • Single-stage compressor: $75 per ton (central AC or heat pump).
  • Multi-stage compressor: $150 per ton (central AC or heat pump).
  • Variable-capacity compressor: $225 per ton (central AC or heat pump).
  • Inverter-driven mini split: $225 per ton, heat pumps only, ducted or ductless.

A 3-ton variable-capacity heat pump earns $675. SRP caps the program at five cooling-system rebates per customer, and separate applications are required for each unit.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates

Who Qualifies

You need a permanent SRP residential electric account and must live in a single-family detached home, single-family attached home, mobile home, apartment, or condominium.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates The new system has to replace or supplement an existing central heat pump or central air conditioner. New construction, window units, and systems installed in garages or other non-habitable spaces do not qualify.2Salt River Project. CoolCash TandC

If you have a split system, both the outdoor condenser and the indoor air handler have to be replaced. The installer must be licensed in Arizona to install residential air-conditioning systems, and the equipment must be installed on or before April 30, 2026.1Salt River Project. What to Gather Before You Start

Assemble every item below before you open the form. Missing pieces send the application back.2Salt River Project. CoolCash TandC

  • Your SRP account number, from a recent bill. The account must match the installation address.3Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program Application Instructions, Terms and Conditions
  • A paid, dated invoice showing the installation date, manufacturer name, and AHRI reference number for all components. An invoice missing any of those three will stall the file.3Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program Application Instructions, Terms and Conditions
  • The AHRI reference number, which your contractor supplies. It links the outdoor and indoor components in AHRI’s directory and confirms the SEER2 minimum.
  • A signed Contractor Terms and Conditions agreement, downloaded from SRP’s rebate page and signed by your installer.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates
  • A Manual J worksheet, if you installed a single-stage system. Your contractor must provide a Manual J cooling load calculation (or equivalent) showing the equipment is sized within 15 percent or a half-ton of the calculated load. Multi-stage and variable-capacity systems skip this.4Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program
  • Details on the old equipment: manufacturer, model, approximate age, SEER rating, and whether it failed or was still working when replaced.

Filling Out the Four Sections

The application has four parts. Work through them in order and leave nothing blank. SRP returns incomplete forms without processing them.

Section A: Customer Information

Enter your SRP account number, name, mailing address, and installation address if it differs. You’ll also give the square footage of the conditioned area, the home type, the year the home was built, your email, and your signed, dated authorization.3Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program Application Instructions, Terms and Conditions

Section B: Contractor and Installer Information

Your contractor completes this part with their company name, address, phone, email, Arizona contractor license number, and the installation date. The contractor also signs a certification statement confirming the installation followed manufacturer guidelines, that the cooling load was estimated using ACCA Manual J or equivalent, that capacity is within 15 percent or a half-ton of that estimate, that airflow is within 10 percent of the blower’s rated capacity, and that refrigerant charge is within 5 percent of manufacturer specs.3Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program Application Instructions, Terms and Conditions A contractor who won’t sign that certification is a warning sign.

Section C: Old Equipment Information

Record the manufacturer, model, and age of the unit you replaced, along with its SEER rating from the range provided (6 to 13). Indicate whether the old system was a heat pump or a central AC, whether it failed or was still operational, and whether it was a package or split system with a gas or electric furnace.

Section D: New Equipment Information

This section produces the most rejections, because every field has to match the AHRI directory exactly. Enter the manufacturer, model number, AHRI reference number, condensing unit model number, and coil or blower coil number. Select tonnage (1.0 to 5.0), compressor type, and system type. If you added an Energy Star thermostat at the same time, list its manufacturer and model. The form also asks for supply, return, and total static pressure, plus dry-bulb temperature readings at the return and supply registers.3Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program Application Instructions, Terms and Conditions Your contractor should take these readings during or right after installation, so ask before the crew leaves.

How to Submit

SRP accepts applications three ways:

  • Online through the SRP Rebate Center. You create an account, complete the application, and upload the signed contractor agreement. The account also lets you track other SRP rebates in one place.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates
  • By email to srpinfo@elaz.org, with the signed contractor agreement, a dated copy of the paid invoice, the Manual J worksheet (for single-stage systems), and a completed hard copy of the application.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates
  • By mail to SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program, 2702 N. Third St., Suite 2020, Phoenix, AZ 85004, with the same documents.3Salt River Project. SRP Cool Cash Rebate Program Application Instructions, Terms and Conditions

The six-month clock runs from the installation date, not the purchase date. If you replaced more than one qualifying system, file a separate application for each.1Salt River Project. Air Conditioner (AC) Rebates

After You Submit

SRP checks the application against the AHRI directory and the contractor’s documentation. If something is missing or doesn’t match, expect a request for additional information. Respond quickly. Unresolved issues can lead to forfeiture, and any missing item, including either signature, will get the application returned.2Salt River Project. CoolCash TandC

SRP also reserves the right to inspect the installation. If your system is selected, the rebate is held until the inspector confirms compliance. If it doesn’t pass, you and your contractor are notified, and the contractor is responsible for corrections and the cost of a reinspection. The rebate is processed only after SRP receives the reinspection documentation.2Salt River Project. CoolCash TandC

Tax Treatment

The Cool Cash rebate is not taxable income. Under federal law, the value of a subsidy a public utility provides to a customer for purchasing or installing an energy conservation measure is excluded from gross income. In exchange, you cannot claim a federal deduction or credit on the portion of the cost covered by the rebate, and the equipment’s tax basis is reduced by the rebate amount.5Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 26 USC 136 – Energy Conservation Subsidies Provided by Public Utilities

The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit under Sections 25C and 25D expired on December 31, 2025, so there is no federal tax credit available to stack with the SRP rebate for 2026 installations. Income-qualifying households may still be eligible for rebates under the federal High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Act, which offers up to $8,000 for heat pumps for households below 80 percent of area median income and up to $4,000 for households between 80 and 150 percent of area median income.6U.S. Department of the Treasury.
