To set up direct deposit with Navy Federal Credit Union, complete the Direct Deposit of Net Pay Enrollment form and hand it to your employer’s payroll office. The Navy Federal direct deposit form is a single page that collects your routing number, account number, and how you want your pay split. You can download it from Navy Federal’s website, fill it out inside digital banking, or pick up a copy at any branch. Most members see their first electronic deposit within one to two pay cycles after turning the form in.
Where to Get the Form
Navy Federal posts the Direct Deposit of Net Pay Enrollment form as a downloadable PDF on its Forms and Brochures page under “Frequently Requested Forms.”1Navy Federal Credit Union. Forms and Brochures You can also reach it inside digital banking by opening an account, tapping Account Services, and choosing Manage Direct Deposit. If your employer isn’t in Navy Federal’s searchable employer database, the system will offer the manual PDF instead.2Navy Federal Credit Union. Digital Banking Video Tutorials
The Numbers You’ll Need
Before you start writing, find two numbers. The routing number is already pre-printed on the form as 256074974, so you don’t need to look it up. Your account number is the 10-digit number tied to the specific checking, savings, or money market account where you want your paycheck to land. It appears on your monthly statement, at the bottom of your checks, and in your online banking dashboard. The form specifically asks for your 10-digit account number, not your Access Number, which is a separate identifier used only for logging in.3Navy Federal Credit Union. Filling In the Account Section
The form has space for two accounts. For each one, check a box for the account type (Checking, Savings, or Money Market) and write in the 10-digit account number.3Navy Federal Credit Union. Direct Deposit of Net Pay Enrollment
Then choose how much of your pay goes to that account:
- Check Net Pay to send your entire paycheck to the account. If you only use one account, this is the box you want.
- Check Other and write a dollar amount to send a fixed portion to that account. This is how you split a paycheck between two accounts.
To split your pay, fill in Account No. 1 with a fixed dollar amount under “Other,” then fill in Account No. 2 with “Net Pay” checked so the remainder flows there. Navy Federal allows deposits to be divided among up to three accounts, including checking, savings, money market, IRA, and certificate accounts.4Navy Federal Credit Union. Direct Deposits and Allotments The paper form itself only has room for two, so a three-way split needs to be set up through digital banking or by contacting Navy Federal.
Personal Information and Signature
Enter your full legal name (first, middle initial, last, suffix), your current home address, and your employer’s company name. The authorization language at the bottom says you are permitting your employer to initiate deposits to the listed accounts and that the authorization stays in effect until you cancel it in writing. Sign and date the form. No notary is required.3Navy Federal Credit Union. Direct Deposit of Net Pay Enrollment
Turning the Form In
Give the completed form to your employer’s human resources or payroll department. Many employers also accept it through a digital HR portal where you can upload the signed PDF. Some ask for a voided check alongside the form as a second verification, though the form itself already contains everything they need.
Check every digit before you submit. One wrong number in the account field can send your pay to someone else’s account or bounce the transfer back, and fixing it after a payroll run means waiting another cycle or two for the correction to take effect.
Setting It Up Without the Paper Form
If your employer uses a supported payroll provider, you can skip the PDF and set everything up from Navy Federal’s app or website:2Navy Federal Credit Union. Digital Banking Video Tutorials
- Sign in and open the Accounts page.
- Select the account where you want your paycheck deposited.
- Tap Account Services, then Manage Direct Deposit.
- Confirm the account in the dropdown and select Find Employer.
- Accept the Terms of Use and search for your employer by name.
- Sign in with your employer’s payroll credentials (the same login you use for your company’s payroll portal).
- Confirm your deposit amount and select Confirm.
This method connects straight to your employer’s payroll system, so nothing needs to be printed or hand-delivered. If your employer doesn’t show up in the search, the system prompts you to download the manual PDF.
When Your First Deposit Will Arrive
Direct deposit from an employer usually activates within one to two pay periods, though some employers process it as early as the next pay date.5Navy Federal Credit Union. Direct Deposit The timing depends on your employer’s payroll provider, not on Navy Federal. During the transition, your employer may issue one or two paper checks while the electronic link is verified.
Watch your account after you submit. If your deposit hasn’t shown up after two full pay cycles, call your employer’s payroll department first, because they control the processing. Navy Federal can confirm whether an incoming ACH transfer has been received or rejected, but it cannot speed up your employer’s end of the pipeline.5Navy Federal Credit Union. Direct Deposit
