How to Fill Out and Submit the MoneyGram ExpressPayment Service Form

The MoneyGram ExpressPayment form is a paper bill-payment slip you complete at a MoneyGram agent location to send a payment directly to a biller in MoneyGram’s network of more than 13,000 companies and agencies. You write in your details and the biller’s details, hand the form to the clerk with your payment and photo ID, and the biller is typically notified within minutes. The whole process takes only a few minutes at the counter once you have the right information in hand.

What to Have With You Before You Go

Three pieces of information about the bill, plus your ID, are all the agent needs. Missing any one of them and the payment cannot be processed.

  • The biller’s name exactly as it appears in MoneyGram’s system. This sometimes differs from the name printed on your bill, because bills often show a parent company or a local subsidiary. Confirm the correct name in MoneyGram’s online biller directory at moneygram.com before your visit.
  • The receive code. This is a numeric code MoneyGram assigns to each biller. Some billers print it on the payment stub of the bill. If yours doesn’t, look it up in the same online biller directory.
  • Your account number with the biller. Copy it exactly, including any leading zeros or dashes. A wrong account number is the most common reason a payment fails to post correctly.

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport. Federal recordkeeping rules under the Bank Secrecy Act require MoneyGram agents to verify your identity for funds transfers of $3,000 or more, capturing your name, address, ID type and number, and taxpayer identification number.1eCFR. 31 CFR 1010.410 – Recordkeeping Requirements for Funds Transfers Agents routinely ask for ID on smaller payments too, under MoneyGram’s own compliance policies.

Finding an Agent That Handles Bill Pay

Not every MoneyGram agent processes bill payments, so filter for “Bill pay” when you search. MoneyGram’s location finder at moneygram.com lets you search by address, city, state, or ZIP code.2MoneyGram. Filling Out the Form

Paper ExpressPayment forms sit at the customer service counter, separate from the standard money-transfer slips. Ask the clerk for one by name if you don’t see it. The form asks for:

  • Your full legal name, as shown on your photo ID.
  • Your current residential street address.
  • A phone number where MoneyGram or the biller can reach you if there’s a problem.
  • The biller name and its receive code.
  • Your account number with the biller.
  • The payment amount you want applied to the bill.

Print clearly and keep each character inside its box. MoneyGram’s equipment scans these forms, and smudged or cramped writing causes errors. If you make a mistake, take a fresh form rather than crossing out or writing over what you already put down.3Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. MoneyGram ExpressPayment Service Form

Handing It Over and Paying

Bring the completed form, your payment, and your ID to the counter. At an agent location you can pay with cash, a debit card, or a credit card.4MoneyGram. Bill Pay If you use a credit card, your card issuer may code the transaction as a cash advance and charge its own fees and interest on top of MoneyGram’s service fee.

The agent checks your ID against the form, keys the data into MoneyGram’s system, and collects the payment amount plus the service fee. The fee varies by biller and amount; MoneyGram doesn’t publish a flat schedule, so ask the agent for the exact fee before you commit.4MoneyGram. Bill Pay The fee is paid separately and does not come out of the amount going to your biller. Once the agent confirms the transaction is approved, you’re done at the counter.

Your Receipt and Tracking the Payment

The agent prints a receipt with a reference number. Keep it. That reference number is your proof of payment and the key to tracking or disputing the transaction later. Check the status by entering the reference number on MoneyGram’s tracking page at moneygram.com or by calling customer service.5MoneyGram. Find or Track a MoneyGram Transfer Online

MoneyGram notifies most billers electronically within minutes, but the posting time to your account is set by the biller. Some post the same day; others take one to three business days. A Word on Scams Before You Head to the Counter

Scammers routinely impersonate utility companies and demand immediate payment through MoneyGram to avoid a supposed shutoff. A legitimate utility will never demand payment by wire transfer, gift card, or cryptocurrency. If someone calls with an urgent shutoff threat and tells you to go to a MoneyGram location right now, hang up and call the utility using the number printed on your bill.8Federal Trade Commission.
