How to Fill Out and Submit the IDBI Bank RTGS Form

The IDBI Bank RTGS form is a single-page application, shared with demand drafts and NEFT, that you complete at any IDBI Bank branch to send ₹2,00,000 or more to another bank account through the Reserve Bank of India’s Real Time Gross Settlement system. Tick the RTGS option, fill in your account details and the beneficiary’s, sign it, and hand it to the teller with a cheque or a debit authorization. The beneficiary’s bank is required to credit the recipient within 30 minutes of receiving the payment message, and there is no upper limit on the amount you can send.1Reserve Bank of India. What to Have Ready Before You Fill It In

Missing one detail means the branch cannot process the form and you go home to collect it. Gather everything first.

  • Your details: Full name as it appears on your IDBI Bank account, your account number, and account type (savings or current).
  • Beneficiary details: Recipient’s full name, their bank account number, and the name and address of their bank branch.
  • IFSC of the beneficiary branch: An 11-character alphanumeric code. The first four letters identify the bank, the fifth character is always zero, and the last six identify the branch. You can look it up on the RBI website or find it on the beneficiary’s chequebook or passbook.
  • Amount: Minimum ₹2,00,000. No maximum.1Reserve Bank of India. RTGS System FAQs
  • Purpose of transfer: A short reason for sending the funds.

Indian bank account numbers vary from 9 to 18 digits depending on the bank. Verify every digit of the beneficiary’s account number before writing it down. One wrong digit can route the money to the wrong person or send it into a return cycle.

Where to Get the Form

IDBI Bank uses a combined “Application for DD/NEFT/RTGS” form. Pick up a printed copy at any branch, or download the PDF from the forms section at idbi.bank.in.2IDBI Bank. Help Us Contact You – Apply Now If you print it yourself, use A4 paper and fill it out in black or dark blue ink before you go to the branch.

Filling Out Each Section

Because it’s a shared template, tick or mark the RTGS option clearly so the counter routes it through the right channel.

Remitter Section

Enter the date in the format the form specifies (typically DD/MM/YYYY). Write your name exactly as registered with IDBI Bank, then your account number. If there are individual boxes for each digit, keep the writing inside them, because the branch uses these boxes for data entry. Select the account type.

Beneficiary Section

Write the recipient’s full name, account number, and the name of their bank and branch. The IFSC has its own field. Get one character wrong and the payment goes into a return cycle: the beneficiary’s bank must return undeliverable funds within one hour of receipt or by the end of the RTGS business day, whichever comes first, but during that time your money sits in transit.

Amount and Purpose

Write the amount in both figures and words. If the two don’t match, the form is rejected. Enter the purpose in the field provided. If you’re funding the transfer with a cheque drawn on your IDBI account rather than a direct debit, write the cheque number in the space given and attach the cheque.

Signature

Sign as your signature appears in the bank’s records. Joint accounts with a joint operation mandate need both signatures. A mismatched signature is one of the most common rejections at the counter, since the officer compares it against the specimen on file.

Submitting the Form at the Branch

Hand the completed form, along with the cheque if you attached one, to the teller at the RTGS/NEFT counter. The officer checks completeness, verifies your signature, and confirms sufficient funds before entering the transaction into RTGS.

You get a receipt with a Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number. Keep it. The UTR is the only way to trace the payment later: to file a complaint, to confirm receipt with the beneficiary’s bank, or to check on a delay. If the recipient says the money hasn’t arrived, share the UTR so their bank can locate the incoming payment.

Fees

The RBI waived its own processing charges on banks for RTGS in 2019 and told banks to pass the savings on to customers.3Press Information Bureau. • ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh: ₹25 before noon, ₹35 after 5:30 PM.
  • Above ₹5 lakh: ₹50 before noon, ₹60 after 5:30 PM.

GST is added on top. Banks revise these charges periodically, so confirm the current schedule with your branch or on the IDBI Bank website.

What Happens After You Submit

The beneficiary’s bank must credit the recipient within 30 minutes of receiving the RTGS message.1Reserve Bank of India. RTGS System FAQs In practice most transfers settle within minutes, because each instruction is processed individually in real time rather than waiting for a batch.

Once the payment settles, it’s final. Under Section 23 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, an RTGS settlement is legally final the moment the payment instruction is executed and cannot be reversed, even if the sending party later enters insolvency.5National Informatics Centre. If the Transfer Fails or Is Delayed

If the beneficiary’s bank cannot credit the recipient (invalid account number, closed account, or a name-account mismatch), it must return the funds to IDBI Bank within one hour of receipt or before the end of the RTGS business day, whichever comes first. IDBI Bank then re-credits your account.

If a return or credit is delayed beyond that timeline, you’re entitled to compensation at the current RBI repo rate plus two percent for each day of delay, and the bank is supposed to pay it automatically.1Reserve Bank of India. Sending RTGS Online Instead

You don’t have to visit a branch. IDBI Bank also processes RTGS through its internet banking portal at idbibank.in. Log in, go to fund transfer, add the beneficiary with their account number and IFSC, and initiate the transfer. The ₹2 lakh minimum still applies. There’s no paper form, no queue, and no signature verification, and the UTR is generated and displayed on screen.
