Cancel Within 30 Days for a Full Refund
If you cancel within 30 days of purchasing your HPP vehicle service contract and have not filed any claims, you qualify for a full refund of the premium you paid.3Hyundai Protection Plan. Vehicle Service Contract No pro-rata reduction, no cancellation fee. The 30-day clock starts on the purchase date shown on your agreement, not the date you took delivery of the vehicle. If you recently bought the plan and want out, move quickly.
Information You Need to Fill Out the Form
Gather these before you sit down with the form. A missing item is the easiest way to delay your refund by weeks.
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): the 17-character code on the driver-side dashboard plate or your registration card.
- Contract number from your original HPP agreement. If you cannot find it, the administrator can look it up using your VIN.
- Current odometer reading. The administrator compares this with the purchase mileage to calculate used coverage.
- Reason for cancellation: trade or sale of the vehicle, early loan payoff, total loss, or no longer wanting the product.
- Lender information if you have an active auto loan or lease: the financial institution’s name, your account number, and the lender’s mailing address. The refund goes to the lender unless you provide proof the loan is paid off.1Hyundai Protection Plan Portal. Hyundai Protection Plan Cancellation Form
- Your full name, current mailing address, phone, and email. Note any address change on the form so correspondence reaches you.
Supporting Documents by Reason
Depending on why you are cancelling, the administrator wants documentation along with the form. These matter especially if you are submitting more than 30 days after the triggering event.
- Vehicle sold or traded: a copy of the bill of sale, trade-in receipt, or dealer paperwork showing the date and terms.
- Loan paid off early: a copy of the lien release or payoff confirmation letter from your lender.
- Total loss: documentation from your insurance company confirming the total loss and the date it occurred.
- No longer want the product: typically no additional documents beyond the completed form.
Keep copies of everything you send. If the administrator later disputes the date of a sale or payoff, your copies are the only way to push back and get the refund calculated from the correct date.
How to Submit the Form
Cancellation requests go through one of two paths: directly to the HPP administrator, or through your selling dealer.1Hyundai Protection Plan Portal. Hyundai Protection Plan Cancellation Form
Fax is the most direct method. Send the completed form and supporting documents to the HPP administrator at 678-553-1374. The fax confirmation gives you proof of delivery.5Hyundai Protection Plan Portal. Hyundai Protection Plan Cancellation Form
Through the selling dealer, you bring the signed form and documents to the finance manager who originally sold you the plan, and the dealer forwards everything to the administrator.4Hyundai Motor Finance. Product Cancellation This adds a middleman, so ask for written confirmation that the paperwork was submitted and the date it was sent.
You can also call the administrator at 800-477-8089 to begin the process, but you will still need to submit the completed form and documentation afterward.2Hyundai Motor Finance. Product Cancellation
How Your Refund Is Calculated
After the 30-day full-refund window, the HPP administrator calculates your refund on a pro-rata basis. The calculation looks at the time elapsed and the miles driven since the contract started and uses the lesser of the two to determine the unused portion. Any claims previously paid under the contract reduce the refund.
An administrative cancellation fee is deducted from the gross refund. The exact amount varies by contract and state and is stated in your original agreement. Some states cap the fee by statute.
Where the refund goes depends on your loan status. All refunds are issued through the selling dealer and applied to the balance of your loan unless you provide proof that the loan has been paid off or the vehicle has been traded.1Hyundai Protection Plan Portal. Hyundai Protection Plan Cancellation Form If you own the vehicle outright, the dealer issues the refund to you directly. Either way, you should receive a statement showing how the final amount was calculated.
Processing Time and Following Up
Cancellation requests are processed within three to four weeks from the date the administrator receives a complete package.1Hyundai Protection Plan Portal. Hyundai Protection Plan Cancellation Form Incomplete submissions push that timeline further out because the administrator has to come back for the missing pieces: a missing odometer reading, a wrong VIN, or no lender information when a loan is still active.
You can check the status of a pending cancellation through the same HPP portal where you downloaded the form. If three weeks pass with no update, call the administrator at 800-477-8089 or your selling dealer’s finance office to confirm the request is in the system. The most common reason for silence is that the paperwork never reached the administrator, especially when it went through a dealer. Your fax confirmation or dealer receipt makes those follow-up calls much shorter.
Once the cancellation is processed, confirm the refund reached the right place. If it went to your lender, check your loan account to verify the principal balance decreased. If it went to you, watch for a check at the mailing address on your form.
Consider Transferring the Plan Instead
If you are selling your vehicle privately, transferring the remaining HPP coverage to the buyer may add more to the sale price than a pro-rata refund would return. The HPP vehicle service contract is transferable to a subsequent owner.3Hyundai Protection Plan. Vehicle Service Contract The transfer steps and any associated fee are in the Sample Customer Agreement that came with your plan. If you no longer have it, call the administrator at 800-477-8089 before you commit to cancellation.
