How to Fill Out and Submit the Fulton Bank Direct Deposit Form

The Fulton Bank direct deposit form is a fillable PDF called “Authorization to Change Direct Deposit,” available inside Fulton Bank’s online Switch Kit or at any branch.1Fulton Bank. Fulton Bank Direct Deposit Form You type in your account details, sign it, and give it to whoever pays you. From start to finish it takes a few minutes once you have your account number in front of you.

What You Need Before You Start

The form asks for two numbers. The first is Fulton Bank’s routing number, which is the same for every Fulton Bank customer: 031301422.2Fulton Bank. Fulton Bank Routing Number The second is your personal account number, which identifies which of your accounts should receive the deposit.

If you have paper checks, both numbers are printed along the bottom. The routing number sits on the left, followed by your account number. No checks? Log into Fulton Bank’s online banking, choose the account on the “My Accounts” screen, and open the “Account Details” dropdown to see the full number.3Fulton Bank. Check every digit twice. A single wrong number can send your pay to the wrong account or cause the transfer to reject, and fixing it means starting over.

Filling Out the Form

The PDF is fillable on-screen, so you can type into the fields before printing. There are two sections.1Fulton Bank. Fulton Bank Direct Deposit Form

The first section covers a former bank account you’re closing: the old institution’s name, its routing number, the old account number, and the name on that account. If this is your first direct deposit, or you’re keeping the old account open, leave this section blank.

The second section is where your Fulton Bank information goes:

  • Company to receive the form: your employer or the agency that pays you.
  • Fulton Bank routing number: 031301422.
  • Fulton Bank account number: yours, from a check or online banking.
  • Signature and date. Most payroll offices reject unsigned forms.

Once it’s filled in, print and sign it.

Voided Check or Account Verification

Some employers want a voided check attached as a backup way to confirm your routing and account numbers. To void one, write “VOID” in large letters across the front, leaving the numbers along the bottom readable. Don’t sign it and don’t fill in any other fields. The point is to give payroll a physical reference with your account details already printed on it.

If you don’t have paper checks, visit a Fulton Bank branch and ask a teller for a counter check or a direct deposit verification letter that confirms the account is active and lists both numbers. Some payroll departments will also accept a screenshot from online banking. Ask your employer first so you send the right thing.

Submitting the Form

Give the completed form to your employer’s HR or payroll department. The form itself refers to your “payer,” which can also be a pension fund, government agency, or anyone else who pays you on a regular schedule.1Fulton Bank. After payroll processes it, expect one to two pay cycles before electronic deposits replace your paper check. During this window, many employers run a prenote, a zero-dollar test transaction that verifies your routing and account numbers before real money moves. Prenotes typically clear within about three business days. Keep your old payment method active and watch your statements until the first real deposit lands in your Fulton Bank account. After that, your pay should appear on the morning of each scheduled payday.4Fulton Bank. Payroll Direct Deposit

Splitting Your Pay Between Accounts

If you want part of your pay in checking and the rest in savings, ask your employer about split direct deposit. Most payroll systems let you divide pay by a fixed dollar amount or by percentage, and you’ll need the routing and account numbers for each destination.

Usually you fill out a separate form for each account and specify how much goes where. A common setup sends a set dollar amount into savings and treats your Fulton Bank checking account as the “remainder” that catches everything else. Because form layouts vary by company, your payroll department can walk you through the specifics.

Social Security and Other Federal Benefits

Fulton Bank’s form is for employer payroll and similar payers. It isn’t the route for Social Security, SSI, or federal retirement payments. Those get updated through the paying agency.

The fastest way to update Social Security direct deposit is to sign into your my Social Security account at ssa.gov and change your bank information there. You can also call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or visit a local Social Security office.5Social Security Administration. Update Direct Deposit Some banks can send updated deposit information to Social Security through an Automated Enrollment process, so it’s worth asking a Fulton Bank branch whether they offer that. For other federal benefits, agencies generally use Treasury Form SF 1199A, mailed to the paying agency.6Bureau of the Fiscal Service. Forms

Federal law now requires Social Security and other federal benefits to be paid electronically, though beneficiaries who face genuine hardships, such as living in a remote area without access to a bank, can request a waiver from the U.S. Treasury to keep receiving paper checks.7Social Security Administration. Changing or Canceling Direct Deposit Later

If you switch banks, close your Fulton Bank account, or want your pay delivered differently, update the direct deposit with your employer, not with Fulton Bank. Submit a new form to payroll with the new account information, or ask them to stop electronic deposits. The bank doesn’t control where your employer sends your pay.

Keep the old Fulton Bank account open until at least one full paycheck has landed in the new account. Closing the old account too soon can cause a deposit to bounce, and recovering a returned ACH payment adds delay. For Social Security or federal benefits, update the banking information through ssa.gov, by phone, or at a local office before closing the old account.5Social Security Administration.
