The Cash App direct deposit form is a pre-filled PDF the app generates for you, carrying your routing number, account number, deposit amount, and electronic signature, ready to hand to your employer’s payroll department. You’ll find it inside the Money tab, but it only appears once you’ve activated a Cash App Card and verified your identity. The whole thing takes a few minutes on your phone.
What You Need Before the Form Appears
Two things have to be in place or Cash App won’t show you a routing number, an account number, or the form generator.
- An activated Cash App Card. Order the physical card through the app and activate it when it arrives in the mail. If your routing and account numbers don’t show up immediately after ordering, wait for the card.1Cash App. Set Up Direct Deposit
- A verified identity. Cash App asks for your legal name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Depending on the account, it may also request your full SSN, residential address, or a photo of an unexpired government-issued ID.2Cash App. FAQ: Customer Identity Verification
An unverified account can only spend from a linked debit card. It cannot receive direct deposits, so the form generator stays hidden until both prerequisites are done.
How to Generate the Form in Cash App
Open Cash App and tap the Money tab on the home screen. Your routing and account numbers sit right below your balance. If your employer only needs the digits, copy them from here.3Cash App. Set Up Direct Deposit
To build the actual PDF:
- From the Money tab, tap Direct Deposit.
- Select “Create a pre-filled form.”
- Enter your employer’s official business name exactly as it appears on your pay stub or offer letter. A mismatch here can slow payroll down.
- Choose how much of each paycheck to deposit: a fixed dollar amount or your full net pay.
- Sign the form on the touchscreen.

Splitting Your Paycheck
Want only part of your pay in Cash App? Enter a fixed dollar amount on the form instead of selecting the full paycheck. Your employer’s payroll system handles the split, sending the remainder to wherever your other direct deposit instructions point. A common setup is routing a set amount into Cash App for everyday spending and keeping the rest in a traditional checking or savings account.
If Your Employer Won’t Take the PDF
Some payroll systems have their own enrollment portal and won’t accept a third-party form. Skip the PDF in that case. Copy your routing and account numbers from the Money tab and type them into the employer’s portal when it asks for bank account details. The routing number identifies the bank and the account number identifies your Cash App balance. That’s all any payroll system needs.5Cash App. Direct Deposit Account Details
How to Submit the Form
After the PDF is generated, Cash App lets you email it from inside the app or download it to your phone. How you deliver it depends on how your employer handles payroll paperwork.
- Email the PDF directly to your HR representative or payroll clerk. This is the fastest option and creates a paper trail automatically.
- Upload the PDF into your employee profile if your company uses software like ADP, Gusto, or Workday. The direct deposit section usually has an attachment field.
- Print the PDF and hand it to payroll. Smaller businesses that keep paper personnel files sometimes prefer this.
Keep a copy of whatever you submit. If payroll later enters a wrong digit, the original PDF makes it easy to show where the mistake happened.
When to Expect Your First Deposit
The first paycheck after you submit the form usually doesn’t land in Cash App. Payroll departments typically need one to two pay cycles to verify new routing and account details, and many run a small test transaction first. During that window, expect to be paid the way you were before: paper check or your previous bank account.
Once the connection is live, Cash App posts direct deposits as soon as they arrive, which can be up to two days earlier than many traditional banks.6Cash App. Direct Deposit Timing Timing depends on when your employer submits payroll. Submissions after business hours, missed ACH cutoffs, weekends, and federal holidays all push the deposit to the next business day.
Individual direct deposits are capped at $25,000 per transaction and $50,000 within any 24-hour period.7Cash App. Cash App and ACH Direct Deposits A standard paycheck won’t come close. Anything above the cap gets rejected and returned to the sender.
If a Deposit Doesn’t Show Up
When payday passes and nothing hits your balance, work through the common causes before contacting support.
- A transposed digit in the routing or account number. Compare the numbers on your submitted form against the ones in the Money tab.
- An unverified account or an inactive Cash App Card. The deposit has nowhere to land and gets returned to your employer.
- A deposit over the $25,000 single-transaction or $50,000 daily limit.7Cash App. Cash App and ACH Direct Deposits
- Late payroll submission. If your employer missed the day’s ACH batch, the deposit arrives the next business day.6Cash App. Direct Deposit Timing
- A federal holiday or weekend sitting in the processing window. The ACH network doesn’t run those days.
If three business days pass and none of the above explains it, contact Cash App. Open a chat by tapping your profile icon, selecting “Support,” then “Start a Chat.” Phone support is at 1-800-969-1940, 8 AM to 9:30 PM ET daily.8Cash App. Contact Cash App Support A legitimate Cash App representative will never ask for your password, PIN, full card number, or sign-in code.
One boundary worth knowing: the pre-filled form is built for employer payroll. Government benefits like Social Security, unemployment, VA payments, and child support can still be routed into Cash App, but you enter the routing and account numbers directly on the agency’s own enrollment form rather than using this PDF.9Cash App. Paycheck Deposits with Cash App
