To cancel Aptive pest control, call the company’s customer support line at (855) 948-5816 and ask to be transferred to the billing or cancellation department. If you’re still inside your initial 12-month agreement, you’ll owe a cancellation fee equal to the discount you received on your first treatment, capped at $199.1Aptive Pest Control. Contact Us The call itself is straightforward, but Aptive’s retention team will push back, and post-cancellation billing errors are common enough that you need a paper trail.
If You Just Signed Up, Use the Three-Day Window First
Aptive sells door-to-door, which triggers a federal cancellation right most customers don’t know they have. The FTC’s Cooling-Off Rule lets you cancel any door-to-door sale over $25 within three business days of signing, with no fee.2Federal Trade Commission. Cooling-off Period for Sales Made at Home or Other Locations The seller is required to hand you a cancellation form along with your contract copy at the time of sale.3eCFR. 16 CFR Part 429 – Rule Concerning Cooling-off Period for Sales Made at Homes or at Certain Other Locations
If you’re inside that window, fill out the notice and send it. Don’t call first and get pulled into a save-the-customer conversation. A written cancellation postmarked within three business days is all the rule requires, and if Aptive hasn’t performed the first treatment yet, you’re entitled to a full refund of any payment within 10 business days.4Reddit. What the Cancellation Fee Actually Costs
Aptive’s standard agreement runs a minimum of 12 months with at least four treatments. The first visit is heavily discounted, and that discount is what you repay if you leave early. The fee equals the discount you received on your initial service, capped at $199.5Aptive Pest Control. Complete Pest Coverage for Year Round Protection
So a $150 initial discount means a $150 cancellation fee. A $250 discount still caps at $199. The fee only applies during the initial 12-month term. After that, you can cancel without penalty, but you need to do it before the next visit is scheduled or you’ll be billed for that visit.
One thing that catches people out: Aptive contracts reportedly convert to month-to-month service after the first year rather than simply ending. If you assumed the agreement lapses on its own, you may see charges and treatments continue. Cancel explicitly.
The Cancellation Steps
Aptive has no online cancellation button. You have to call and then back the call up in writing.
- Call (855) 948-5816. This is the number on Aptive’s official contact page. Hours are 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Ask specifically for billing or cancellation; don’t accept a transfer to scheduling or general support.1Aptive Pest Control. Contact Us
- State your intent plainly. Say you want to cancel all future services and close the account effective immediately. The rep will offer discounts, schedule changes, or free add-ons. If you’ve decided to cancel, don’t negotiate. Repeat the request.
- Get a confirmation number before you hang up, plus the name of the representative who processed the cancellation. Write both down.
- Follow up in writing. Send a short cancellation letter to Aptive Environmental, 4931 N 300 W, Provo, UT 84604, by certified mail with return receipt requested. Reference the confirmation number from your call.1Aptive Pest Control. Contact Us
Aptive publishes a general contact form but no dedicated cancellation email address. Certified mail is the stronger option anyway. An email can be claimed as lost; a signed return receipt cannot.
What to Have Ready Before You Call
- Your account number, from a billing statement or the customer portal at my.goaptive.com.6Aptive Pest Control. Aptive Customer Portal – Aptive Login Page
- The name on the account, exactly as Aptive has it.
- The service address where treatments were performed.
- Your contract start date, which decides whether you’re still in the initial 12-month term.
If you’ve lost your paperwork, the portal has your agreement and billing history. Log in and screenshot everything before you call. Some customers report losing portal access shortly after their cancellation goes through.
After You Cancel, Watch for Surprise Charges
This is where Aptive cancellations tend to break down. Consumer complaints describe charges landing after the account was supposedly closed, and treatments being performed after cancellation. A few precautions:
- Check your bank or card statements for at least two full billing cycles after cancellation.
- Remove your payment method from the Aptive portal before or right after you cancel. If they don’t have a card on file, they can’t auto-charge.
- Save everything: the confirmation number, the rep’s name, your certified mail receipt, and screenshots of your final account status.
If a charge appears after cancellation, dispute it with your card issuer. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you can dispute billing errors by writing to the issuer within 60 days of the statement containing the charge. During the investigation the issuer can’t report you as delinquent on the disputed amount or send it to collections.7Federal Trade Commission. Using Credit Cards and Disputing Charges
Military Relocations
Active-duty service members with orders to relocate for 90 days or more can terminate certain consumer contracts without early termination fees under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. The SCRA specifically lists cell service, internet, gym memberships, and home security.8MyArmyBenefits. Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) Pest control isn’t on that list, but if you’re PCSing, especially to a location Aptive doesn’t service, it’s worth raising. Send a copy of your orders and request a written fee waiver.
Civilian moves don’t carry the same protection. If you’re inside the initial term you’ll likely still owe the fee, though some customers report getting it reduced or waived when they can show the new address is outside Aptive’s service area.
If the Balance Goes to Collections
Customers who cancel mid-contract and refuse the fee sometimes see the balance handed to a third-party collector. Don’t ignore it. Request written verification of the debt from the collector, check the amount against your contract and the $199 cap, and if it’s wrong or you have proof of a completed cancellation, dispute it in writing with the collector and file a complaint with your state attorney general’s consumer protection division.
For amounts under a few hundred dollars, small claims court is an option if negotiations stall. Filing fees run roughly $15 to $300 depending on the state and the amount in dispute. The threat of a filing sometimes resolves things before the filing goes in.
