To apply for an AppClose fee waiver, fill out the online form at web.appclose.com/feewaiver using the primary email address tied to your AppClose account. The form is handled directly by AppClose, not by any court, and it’s how the company has already granted free accounts to more than 18,500 qualifying families since moving to a paid-only model on January 1, 2026. Domestic violence survivors use a separate, more private channel described below.
Who Can Apply
AppClose’s terms of service identify three groups eligible for a waiver or discount:1AppClose. Terms of Service Agreement
- Families experiencing financial hardship, verified through receipt of means-tested government benefits such as SNAP, SSI, TANF, or Medicaid, receive a full waiver.
- Domestic violence survivors receive free access, and their co-parent does too. An attorney or legal services organization can submit the request for the survivor.
- Active-duty service members and disabled veterans qualify for a reduced rate rather than a full waiver.
AppClose does not publish a specific income cutoff, but its reliance on means-tested benefits tracks federal poverty guidelines. For 2026, 150 percent of the federal poverty level is $23,940 for a single individual and $49,500 for a family of four; the 125 percent benchmark used by some benefit programs is $19,950 and $41,250 respectively.2HHS ASPE. 2026 Poverty Guidelines – 48 Contiguous States If you already receive benefits from a qualifying program, that alone should demonstrate eligibility.
What to Have Ready Before You Open the Form
Gather these items first so you can complete the form in one sitting:
- The primary email address associated with your AppClose account. The name and email on the form must match what’s on your account, since mismatched information is one of the easiest ways to slow down an otherwise straightforward application.
- Proof that you receive a qualifying government benefit. A benefit verification letter, an award letter from your state’s social services agency, or a screenshot of your current benefit statement with your case number is the simplest way to verify status.
- If your income fluctuates or you’re self-employed, recent bank statements or a tax return showing your household income falls within qualifying thresholds.
AppClose does not publicly detail every field on the form or spell out the exact documentation required, so having more than one form of proof on hand is safer than assuming one document will be enough.3AppClose. AppClose Subscription and Fee Waiver Frequently Asked Questions
Submitting the Form
Go to web.appclose.com/feewaiver.3AppClose. AppClose Subscription and Fee Waiver Frequently Asked Questions Enter your account email exactly as it appears in AppClose. Complete every section; blank fields on a means-tested application are usually treated as unverified rather than optional. Attach or reference your benefit documentation where prompted. Review your name and email against your account one more time before submitting.
If a judge ordered your family to use AppClose and cost is the obstacle, mentioning the court order in your application gives useful context for why access matters.
If You’re a Domestic Violence Survivor
Do not use the general online form. Instead, send an email to supportdv@appclose.com and include the primary email address tied to your AppClose account.3AppClose. AppClose Subscription and Fee Waiver Frequently Asked Questions An attorney or a legal services organization can send the request for you. When the waiver is granted, both you and your co-parent get free access, so one parent’s inability to pay does not block the other from using the platform.
After You Submit
AppClose does not publish a specific processing timeline. Responses go to the email tied to your account. Given the volume of waivers already processed, a week or two is a fair window before following up through support.appclose.com. If approved, your account converts to a free subscription with the same feature access as a paying subscriber. If your financial circumstances change later, AppClose may revisit eligibility.
If your application is denied, the 60-day free trial requires no credit card and no upfront payment, and includes every feature in the paid subscription.4AppClose. This Is Not a Court Fee Waiver
A court fee waiver covers filing fees, service of process, and other litigation costs, and it’s granted by a judge based on a sworn affidavit of indigency. The AppClose fee waiver is a separate request handled by AppClose, and a court-granted fee waiver does not automatically cover your AppClose subscription.1AppClose.
