To set up direct deposit into an Academy Bank account, give your employer or paying agency three things on their authorization form: Academy Bank’s routing number, 107001481; your personal account number; and whether the account is checking or savings. Academy Bank does not issue its own direct deposit form. Employers supply their own paperwork or use an online payroll portal, and the bank’s help center simply directs customers to share the bank name, routing number, and account number with whoever is paying them.1Academy Bank. The Two Numbers You Need
The routing number for every Academy Bank account is 107001481, regardless of which branch opened the account or which state you live in.1Academy Bank. Getting Started (Checking and Savings Accounts) This nine-digit number identifies the bank inside the Automated Clearing House network.
Your account number is unique to you. A few ways to find it:
- Log in to Academy Bank online banking or the mobile app, open the account, and tap Details to view the full number.1Academy Bank. Getting Started (Checking and Savings Accounts)
- Read it from the bottom of a paper check, printed to the right of the routing number.
- Call Academy Bank or stop by a branch; a representative will verify your identity and give you both numbers.
Verify every digit before you hand the numbers over. One transposed figure can route your pay to a stranger’s account, and getting misdirected funds back is rarely fast.
What the Form Asks For
Whether the authorization is on paper or in a payroll portal, the fields are the same:
- Bank name: Academy Bank.
- Routing number: 107001481.
- Account number: your individual account number.
- Account type: checking or savings. Payroll systems use different ACH transaction codes for each, and the wrong box can cause the deposit to bounce back.
- Deposit amount: the full paycheck, or a specific dollar amount or percentage if you want to split it across accounts.
- Signature and date. Online portals replace the wet signature with an electronic consent step.
Fill the fields in exactly as they appear on your account records. Nicknames or abbreviations in the account name field can trigger a mismatch review during the payroll system’s verification step.
If You Don’t Have a Voided Check
Many employers still ask for a voided check stapled to the authorization. If you don’t keep paper checks, there are workarounds. Nacha, the organization that governs the ACH network, notes that online and mobile banking apps make routing and account numbers readily available, and some banks offer prefilled deposit forms through their portals.2Nacha. Direct Deposit Without a Voided Check Absolutely
A screenshot or printout of your account details from the Academy Bank app usually satisfies an employer’s verification requirement. If your payroll department insists on a physical document, ask Academy Bank for a direct deposit verification letter at any branch.
Submitting the Form
Hand the completed form and any supporting documents to your human resources or payroll contact. If your company uses a self-service portal, you’ll enter the routing and account numbers directly on screen and upload the voided check or verification letter.
The first live deposit usually doesn’t land right away. Most employers run a prenote first — a zero-dollar test transaction that confirms your account details are valid. A prenote takes roughly three business days to clear. If Academy Bank doesn’t return it with an error, the account is approved for real deposits. Between the prenote and the payroll cutoff calendar, expect one to two pay cycles before the first direct deposit arrives.
During that window, keep watching your Academy Bank transaction history. Your employer may issue paper checks until the prenote clears, so stopping your mail check too soon can leave you waiting. Keep a copy of what you submitted; if a deposit goes missing weeks later, that paperwork is your record of what you authorized and when.
Splitting Pay Between Accounts
If you want part of each paycheck in savings and the rest in checking, ask whether your employer supports split deposits. Most payroll systems let you designate two or more accounts and set either a fixed dollar amount or a percentage for each. You’ll need the routing number and account number for every receiving account, plus the account type for each line.
A common setup is sending a flat amount, say $200 per paycheck, to savings and the remainder to checking. Every added account needs its own line on the form or its own entry in the portal.
When Your Deposit Will Land
Once direct deposit is active, Academy Bank’s Early Pay feature releases funds up to one business day before the scheduled payday on eligible checking accounts, including Simply Free, Select Rewards, Elite Investment, Student, and Safe Spending.3Academy Bank. Compare Checking Accounts The maximum ACH credit eligible for Early Pay is $15,000.4Academy Bank. Simply Free Checking Account You don’t enroll separately. Employers and payroll processors typically submit deposit files one to two days before the official pay date, and Academy Bank releases the money as soon as the file arrives rather than holding it to the stated date.
Protecting the Account After Setup
Once your routing and account numbers are on file with an employer, guard the paperwork. If an unauthorized transfer hits your account, federal Regulation E caps your liability only if you report quickly: up to $50 if you notify Academy Bank within two business days of discovering the problem, up to $500 if you report after two days but within 60 days of the statement, and potentially the full amount after 60 days for transfers the bank could have stopped had it known.5eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.6 – Liability of Consumer for Unauthorized Transfers
The 60-day clock starts when the statement is sent, not when you open it, so review Academy Bank statements regularly. If a deposit you expected never arrived, or a withdrawal appears that you didn’t authorize, contact the bank right away.
