ICICI Bank Form A2 is the application you submit to send money from India to a beneficiary abroad for any purpose other than importing goods. The Reserve Bank of India requires every authorized dealer bank to collect it before releasing an outward remittance, and ICICI Bank offers it two ways: as a downloadable “Retail Outward Remittance Application — A2 cum LRS Declaration” PDF for branch transfers, and as a built-in step inside the Money2World online flow.1ICICI Bank. Branch Based Transfer Forms – Outward Remittance Most individual remittances go out under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, which caps outward transfers at USD 250,000 per resident per financial year (April through March) across all banks combined.2Reserve Bank of India. Where to Get the Form
If you plan to transfer online, you don’t download anything. Log in to ICICI Bank NetBanking or iMobile, start a Money2World transfer, and the A2 declarations appear as on-screen fields you accept electronically.
For a branch transfer, download the A2 cum LRS Declaration PDF from ICICI Bank’s outward remittance page and carry the printed, signed form to a Forex-enabled branch.1ICICI Bank. How to Fill Out Form A2
The form has three working sections: your details as the remitter, the beneficiary’s banking information, and the transaction particulars. An error in any of them can hold up the transfer, so slow down here.
Remitter Details
Write your full legal name exactly as it appears on your ICICI Bank account, your registered address, and your ten-digit Permanent Account Number. PAN is mandatory for every LRS transaction because the bank uses it to track your cumulative remittances against the USD 250,000 annual ceiling.3Axis Bank. Application cum Form A2 for Outward Remittance If your PAN details don’t match the bank’s KYC records, the transaction stalls until you update them.
Beneficiary and Bank Details
You need the recipient’s full name, country of residence, account number, and the receiving bank’s SWIFT code (also called a Business Identifier Code). For remittances to Europe, the UK, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and several other countries, an IBAN is also required — a standardized international account number that routes funds within those banking systems.4The Federal Bank. Federal Bank Form A2 – Application for Remittance Abroad For USD to the United States, an ABA routing number replaces the IBAN. A wrong SWIFT code is one of the most common reasons funds sit in intermediary banks for days, so verify it with your recipient before you submit.
Purpose Code
Every outward remittance must carry an RBI-defined Purpose Code, a short alphanumeric identifier telling regulators what the money is for. Travel for education, for example, is S0305 and covers tuition and hostel expenses.5Reserve Bank of India. Annexure – New Purpose Codes for Reporting Forex Transactions Picking the wrong code trips up more people than any other field: compliance flags a mismatch between the stated purpose, the supporting documents, and the code you selected, and the transfer stops until it’s fixed. The Money2World dropdown reduces that risk. On the paper form, ask the branch officer to confirm the right code for your transaction.
Declaration
The form ends with a declaration confirming that your total foreign exchange purchased or remitted during the financial year complies with FEMA regulations, that the funds belong to you, and that they will not be used for prohibited purposes.6Reserve Bank of India. Form A2 – Application for Remittance Abroad Sign it only after checking the amounts. A false declaration is an enforceable FEMA contravention, not boilerplate.
Documents to Attach
Supporting documents depend on why you’re sending money. Missing even one item puts the transaction on hold.
- Education: an admission or offer letter from the foreign institution, or a detailed fee invoice showing the amount due. The institution name and amount on the invoice must match Form A2.
- Medical treatment: an estimate or invoice from the foreign hospital or provider showing the treatment and cost.
- Maintenance of close relatives: the A2 cum LRS Declaration itself usually suffices, though the compliance team may request proof of relationship such as a birth certificate, marriage certificate, or passport copy. “Close relative” here follows Section 2(77) of the Companies Act, 2013 (spouse, parents, children and their spouses, siblings).7ICICI Bank. - Foreign nationals repatriating salary: valid passport and employment visa, plus pay slips, Form 16, or an employer certificate showing salary details.7ICICI Bank. Documents – Overseas Money Transfer
PAN is required in every case.
Handle Form 15CA and 15CB Before the Transfer
The Income Tax Department may require Form 15CA, filed electronically on the income tax e-filing portal, before the bank releases the money. Which part you fill depends on the size and nature of the payment:
- Part A: the remittance (or year-to-date aggregate) is taxable but does not exceed ₹5 lakh in the financial year.
- Part B: the amount exceeds ₹5 lakh and you hold a certificate or order from the Assessing Officer under Section 195(2), 195(3), or 197.
- Part C: the amount exceeds ₹5 lakh and you have obtained a Form 15CB certificate from a Chartered Accountant.
- Part D: the remittance is not taxable in India.9Income Tax Department. Form 15CA FAQs
If your remittance exceeds ₹5 lakh and is chargeable to tax, a Chartered Accountant must certify in Form 15CB that appropriate tax has been deducted or that a tax treaty applies. The 15CB is uploaded on the income tax portal first, and only then can you generate and submit the matching 15CA. ICICI Bank will ask for the 15CA acknowledgment number before releasing funds, so sort this out before you start the transfer.
Tax Collected at Source on Your Debit
Under Section 206C(1G) of the Income Tax Act, the bank collects TCS on outward remittances. TCS is not lost money. It’s credited against your income tax liability when you file your return, and refundable if your total tax due is lower.
Rates and thresholds under the Finance Act 2026, effective April 1, 2026:
- Education and medical remittances: no TCS on the first ₹10 lakh in the financial year; 2% above that.
- Education funded by a loan from a financial institution qualifying under Section 80E: 0% TCS regardless of amount.
- Overseas tour packages: 2% on the full amount, no threshold.
- All other LRS remittances, including investments, gifts, property purchases, and relative maintenance: no TCS on the first ₹10 lakh; 20% above that.10Standard Chartered. Revision in Applicable Taxes on Outward Foreign Remittances
The ₹10 lakh threshold is aggregate across purposes on a first-come-first-served basis.11Income Tax India. Tax Collection at Source (TCS) Remit ₹8 lakh for education in June and ₹5 lakh for an investment in September, and TCS applies to the last ₹3 lakh. If you don’t furnish PAN or Aadhaar, the TCS rate doubles for education and medical remittances.

Print the A2 cum LRS Declaration, fill it out fully, and carry it to a Forex-enabled ICICI Bank branch with your supporting documents and PAN card.1ICICI Bank. Fees and Timing
ICICI Bank’s charges for outward remittances through Money2World:
- Standard transactions: ₹750 per transfer, plus applicable GST.
- USD to the USA, AUD to Australia, GBP to the UK, CAD to Canada, or EUR to Eurozone countries: ₹1,000 per transfer, plus GST.13ICICI Bank. Outward Remittance FAQs
GST applies to the service charge and the currency conversion margin, not to the TCS amount itself. The exchange rate is locked when you confirm the transaction. Both online and branch remittances are processed within one working day if documents clear verification, and funds usually reach the beneficiary one to two working days after that.14ICICI Bank. What Getting It Wrong Costs
A false declaration on Form A2, a remittance for a prohibited purpose, or breaching the LRS limit without RBI approval is a FEMA contravention. Under Section 13 of FEMA, the penalty can run up to three times the amount involved. Where the amount isn’t quantifiable, the penalty is up to ₹2 lakh, with an additional ₹5,000 per day for a continuing violation.15India Code. FEMA 1999 – Section 13 Penalties
For larger violations involving foreign exchange or overseas property above certain thresholds, the Adjudicating Authority can order confiscation of equivalent assets held in India and recommend criminal prosecution. A criminal complaint filed by the Director of Enforcement can result in imprisonment of up to five years along with a fine.15India Code. FEMA 1999 – Section 13 Penalties Practically, that means keeping your purpose code accurate, your amount honest, and your supporting documents consistent with what you declared on the form.
