How to Cancel Your Qapital Account or Membership

To cancel your Qapital account, move your balance to zero, then open the app, tap the button in the top-left of the Home tab, tap Membership, and tap Close my account.1Qapital Help Center. Empty Your Balance First

Qapital wants your account at zero before closure. Start by pausing Round-ups and any scheduled transfers so no new money comes in while you’re winding down.

Open each Goal and send the funds back to your linked external checking account. Withdrawals from Goals or the Qapital Spend account usually reach your bank in one to two business days. One catch: any deposit made in the last four business days is still settling and can’t be withdrawn until that window passes.3Qapital Help Center. Deposit/Withdraw Timeframes

If you have a Qapital Invest account, sell your holdings first. U.S. securities settle on a T+1 basis as of May 2024, so proceeds from an ETF sale become available one business day after the trade.4U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Shortening the Securities Transaction Settlement Cycle Once the sale settles, move the cash to your external bank with the rest.

Before you request closure, scan your transaction list for pending debit card charges or merchant holds. A charge that posts after you start the closure can leave a small negative balance and delay everything. Check for stray cents from accrued interest too. Getting to exactly zero avoids back-and-forth with support.

Close the Account Inside the App

With your balance at zero, open Qapital and go to the Home tab. Tap the button in the top-left corner, then Membership, then scroll down to Close my account.1Qapital Help Center. Close or Delete My Qapital Account A short flow asks why you’re leaving and then asks you to confirm.

The account doesn’t shut off the moment you confirm. It stays active through the end of your current billing cycle, and no further charges hit after that cycle ends.2Qapital Help Center. Will Deleting the App Stop or Cancel My Membership

If the Close my account option doesn’t appear or the flow breaks, don’t wait it out. Email support@qapital.com or open a ticket from the app’s help section so it’s handled before the next bill.1Qapital Help Center. Close or Delete My Qapital Account

Cancel by Email If You Can’t Use the App

Email support@qapital.com from the address on your account.2Qapital Help Center. Will Deleting the App Stop or Cancel My Membership Include your full name and the email tied to your Qapital login, and state clearly that you want to permanently close your account and cancel your membership. You can also submit a ticket through the help center on Qapital’s website.1Qapital Help Center. Close or Delete My Qapital Account Mentioning that your balance is already at zero tends to move things along, since support otherwise has to verify no funds remain before processing the closure.

Lock Your Card and Cut the Bank Connection

If you have a Qapital Visa debit card, lock it in the app before you finalize the closure. The lock feature blocks new charges while you finish up.5Qapital Help Center. My Qapital Visa Debit Card is Missing or Damaged If you used the card for streaming services, a gym membership, or anything else recurring, switch those to a different payment method first. Otherwise the charges fail once the account closes.

Qapital links to your external bank through a data aggregator like Plaid, and closing Qapital doesn’t automatically revoke that link. To stop the data sharing, log into the Plaid Portal at my.plaid.com, find Qapital under your connected apps, and choose Disconnect app.6Plaid Consumer Help Center. If Charges Keep Coming, Stop Them at Your Bank

If you canceled through the app or by email and charges still keep hitting, federal law gives you a separate way to stop them. Notify your bank or credit union at least three business days before the next scheduled charge and tell them to block the preauthorized transfer. The notice can be oral or written, though the bank may ask for written confirmation within 14 days.7eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers This is a backup, not a substitute. Blocking the payment at your bank does not close your Qapital account.

Save Your Statements Before You Lose Access

Download or screenshot your statements and transaction history before access disappears. You’ll want them at tax time, especially if you earned interest or sold investments during the year.

If you earned $10 or more in interest, Qapital’s banking partner is required to send a 1099-INT by early February of the following year. If you sold investments, the 1099-B for those sales is due by mid-February.8Internal Revenue Service.
