How to Cancel Your PCH Intelius Subscription: Steps and Refunds

To cancel a PCH Intelius subscription, sign in to your account at intelius.com and submit a cancellation through Membership Settings, or call Intelius customer care at (877) 564-3253. The charge is typically $29.63 per month plus tax and keeps renewing every 30 days until you actively cancel. Intelius does not accept cancellations by email, so the dashboard and the phone line are your only two routes.

Cancel Online in Five Steps

The dashboard is the fastest option if you still have your login.

  • Log in at intelius.com with the email and password you used at signup.
  • Hover over “My Account” at the top right. On mobile, tap “Menu” first, then “My Account.”
  • Click “Membership Settings” to see the subscriptions tied to your account.
  • Click “Cancel Subscription” under the membership you want to end.
  • Pick a reason from the dropdown, add any comments if you want, and click “Submit.”

That final Submit is what stops the billing cycle.1Intelius. Cancel by Phone

If you can’t log in or prefer to speak with someone, call (877) 564-3253. The line runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific (10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern). Holiday hours vary.3Intelius. Contact Intelius Customer Service

Have the account email and the last four digits of the billed card ready. If you’re not sure which card is being charged, look on your statements for a line item from “PCH*INTELIUS.COM/SB.” The “PCH” prefix means the subscription started through a Publishers Clearing House promotion.4Intelius. Expect a Retention Offer

Whether you cancel online or by phone, Intelius will probably try to keep you. The standard membership runs $29.63 per month after a $1.99 five-day trial.5Intelius. Special Offer Representatives may offer a reduced rate or extended free access. You’re not required to accept, and declining doesn’t slow the cancellation.

This is where most people get tripped up online. The retention screens can look like errors or required steps, but they’re just offers. Keep clicking past them until you reach the final submit. On the phone, repeat that you want the subscription ended and ask for a confirmation number before hanging up.

Save Your Confirmation

After you submit, look for a confirmation number or email. Screenshot it, save the email, and note the exact date and time. If you canceled by phone, write down the confirmation number and the representative’s name. That documentation is what wins a billing dispute later if a charge shows up anyway.

The current billing period usually stays active until it expires. If you’re halfway through a monthly cycle, you keep access until that period ends, and you should not be charged for the next one. Watch your statements for at least 60 days after cancellation, which is the same window you have under federal law to dispute a billing error with your card issuer.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S.C. 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors

Stop the Payment at Your Bank or PayPal

If you can’t reach your account or you’re worried the charges will continue, you can block the payment at the source. Federal law lets you stop any preauthorized recurring electronic payment by notifying your bank or credit union at least three business days before the next scheduled charge.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S.C. 1693e – Preauthorized Transfers Your bank may ask you to follow up in writing within 14 days.8HelpWithMyBank.gov. If you paid through PayPal, revoke Intelius’s billing permission from your PayPal account. Go to Settings, then Payments, then “Automatic Payments” or “Subscriptions and saved businesses.” Find Intelius in the list and cancel the agreement.9PayPal. Blocking payment doesn’t technically close the Intelius account. It just stops the money. Cancel through Intelius directly as well so the company can’t claim you owe a balance.

Disputing Charges After Cancellation

If Intelius charges you after your confirmed cancellation date, contact your card issuer and file a billing error dispute. Your written notice must reach the issuer within 60 days of the statement showing the charge.6Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S.C. 1666 – Correction of Billing Errors While the dispute is investigated, the creditor cannot collect on the disputed amount or report it as delinquent. That protection comes from the Fair Credit Billing Act.10Federal Trade Commission. Fair Credit Billing Act

Your confirmation number, screenshot, or cancellation email is what wins these disputes. Without documentation, it becomes your word against the company’s records.

Escalate If Billing Continues

If your bank dispute doesn’t resolve things, file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The CFPB forwards complaints to the company, which generally has 15 days to respond, or up to 60 days for more involved cases. You can track the status through the CFPB portal.11Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The FTC has also been active in this space. In April 2025, the agency distributed more than $18 million in refunds to over 281,000 consumers harmed by Publishers Clearing House marketing tactics, including promotions that gave the false impression that purchases improved sweepstakes odds.12Federal Trade Commission. What the Click-to-Cancel Rule Gives You

The FTC finalized its click-to-cancel rule in late 2024. Sellers must make cancellation at least as easy as signup, and if you subscribed online, the company has to let you cancel online without forcing a call.13Federal Trade Commission. Intelius offers an online cancellation path, so it meets the basic requirement. If you find the screens designed to confuse or delay, file a complaint at ftc.gov/complaint. Complaint volume is what the FTC uses to spot patterns and build enforcement cases.
