To cancel an Opal subscription, go to the platform that charges you: Apple ID subscriptions on an iPhone, the Google Play Store on Android, or the Stripe billing portal if you signed up on opal.so. Here is how to cancel an Opal subscription on each one, plus what to do if you want a refund for the last charge.
One thing to get out of the way first: deleting the Opal app does not cancel anything.
Deleting the App Does Not Stop the Billing
Removing Opal from your phone leaves the subscription active in the background. Apple and Google treat app deletion and subscription management as separate actions. If you uninstall without canceling, you keep getting billed every month or year until you go through the proper steps on the platform where you subscribed.
Figure Out Who Is Billing You
Check your bank or card statement. The descriptor tells you which platform to use.
- “apple.com/bill” means Apple is handling the subscription.1Apple Support. Get Help With Charges From apple.com/bill
- “Google” or “GOOGLE*” means it’s running through the Play Store.
- “Opal” or “Stripe” means you subscribed on the website and Stripe is processing the payment.
While you’re at it, open the Opal app, tap your profile, and note which email is on the account. A mismatch between your Apple ID email, Google account, and the email you used on Opal’s site is a common reason people can’t find the subscription in their settings.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
If you subscribed through an Apple device, the subscription lives in your Apple ID settings, not inside the Opal app.
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.
- Scroll to Opal and select it. You’ll see the current plan and the next renewal date.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If you’re on a free or discounted trial, Apple requires you to cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged.2Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple For a paid subscription that’s already renewing, there’s no published deadline, but canceling a day or two ahead of the renewal date avoids any last-minute problem.
Cancel on Android
Android cancellations go through the Google Play Store, not through Opal.
- Open Google Play and tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Opal and tap Cancel subscription. Google will ask you to pick a reason before finalizing.
Google’s own guidance says subscriptions run indefinitely and renew at the start of each billing cycle unless you unsubscribe.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play There’s no published advance-notice window, but handle it as soon as you’ve decided.
Cancel if You Subscribed on the Opal Website
If you signed up through opal.so, your billing runs through Stripe. You cancel in a Stripe customer portal, not in your phone settings.
- Go to the Stripe login portal linked on Opal’s help page. There’s a separate Stripe dashboard link for Mac app subscriptions.
- Enter the exact email you used when you purchased, then click Send.
- Open the verification email Stripe sends you and click the link to access your billing dashboard.
- Tap Cancel plan.
You have to use the same email you originally subscribed with. If you can’t remember which one, search your inbox for past Stripe receipts from Opal.4Opal. How to Cancel My Subscription and/or Get a Refund
Free Trials Convert Automatically
Opal’s free trial rolls over into a paid annual subscription when the trial ends. If you’re unsure about keeping the service, cancel before the trial expires — you keep premium features for the rest of the trial period either way.

Getting a Refund
Canceling stops future charges but doesn’t automatically refund the last one. Where you request the refund depends on who billed you, and Opal’s support team cannot process refunds for Apple or Google purchases.4Opal. How to Cancel My Subscription and/or Get a Refund
