How to Cancel Your MDG Account: Add-Ons, Balance, and Confirmation

To cancel an MDG account, you need to cancel any recurring subscription add-ons, pay your credit line down to zero, and send MDG a written closure request. All three steps are required by MDG’s own terms, and skipping the first one is the single most common reason customers keep getting billed after they think they’re done.

Cancel the Subscription Add-Ons First

MDG bundles optional subscriptions with its financing accounts, and these bill separately from your product payments. Paying off the loan does not stop them. Complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau show a repeating pattern: the balance hits zero, the customer assumes the relationship is over, and a monthly membership fee quietly keeps running on the same payment method.1Better Business Bureau. Purchase Benefits Club

The Purchase Benefits Club charges $8.95 per month and renews automatically until you cancel. MDG bills it at the end of each month to whatever payment method you authorized for your original purchase. Call Customer Service at 1-800-906-0975 ext. 352 to cancel. If you cancel mid-month after already paying, the fee is prorated and the remainder is refunded to your original payment method.2MDG USA Inc. Credit Monitoring Service

If you enrolled in MDG’s credit monitoring service when you applied for financing, cancel it through any of these channels: the MDG online portal, Customer Service at 1-800-906-0975 ext. 352, email to support@mdg.com, or a written request mailed to MDG USA, 3422 Old Capitol Trail, PMB #1993, Wilmington, DE 19808.3MDG. Cancel both subscriptions before, or at the same time as, your account closure request. Do not assume closing the main account stops them.

Pay Your Balance Down to Zero

MDG’s Premium Credit Line terms are explicit: the account only closes once you provide written notice and bring the balance to zero.4MDG Computers Canada, Inc. Request a payoff quote from MDG’s Finance Department at 1-800-906-0975 ext. 340 or finance@mdg.com. Ask for a figure that includes accrued interest through your expected payment date. The Finance Department handles balance and payment questions; general Customer Service does not.5MDG. Contact Us You can check the “My Account” portal too, but the Finance Department’s figure is the one to pay. A portal balance may lag the interest that has accrued since your last statement.

Send a Written Closure Request

MDG’s terms require written notice to close. You have three options:

  • Email: support@mdg.com
  • Phone (with written follow-up): 1-800-906-0975 ext. 352
  • Mail: MDG USA, 3422 Old Capitol Trail, PMB #1993, Wilmington, DE 19808

Email is the practical choice because it timestamps itself. If you call, send a follow-up email summarizing the conversation, the representative’s name, and any reference number. Use direct language: “I am requesting permanent closure of my MDG account [your account number].” Something softer like “I’d like to stop using my account” can be read as a temporary hold rather than a closure.5MDG. Your account number is on digital invoices and any mail from MDG. Have it ready along with your full legal name and the address on file so the representative can verify your identity.

Get Written Confirmation

Once the request is processed, ask for two documents: confirmation that the account is closed at your request, and a final statement showing a zero balance and “closed” status. The wording matters. An account marked closed at the consumer’s request reads as neutral; one marked closed by the creditor can raise questions with future lenders.

Keep the confirmation permanently. If MDG or a collection agency ever contacts you about this account again, that document ends the conversation.

Watch Your Bank Statements for Two to Three Months

BBB complaints describe a recurring pattern of charges continuing after closure, whether from membership fees that were never canceled or from payments still being pulled from bank accounts past the payoff date.1Better Business Bureau. MDG BBB Complaints

For at least two to three months after closing, scan your bank statements for anything from MDG. If an unauthorized charge appears, dispute it with your bank and contact MDG’s Finance Department at 1-800-906-0975 ext. 340 with your closure confirmation. If MDG does not resolve it, file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov or with the Better Business Bureau.

What Closing the Account Does to Your Credit

Closing any credit account can push your score down a bit because it shrinks your total available credit, which raises your credit utilization ratio.6Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Does It Hurt My Credit to Close a Credit Card? The effect is usually modest if you carry low balances elsewhere. A closed account in good standing stays on your credit report for up to ten years; one with negative marks remains for seven years from the first delinquency.

If MDG later reports something inaccurate on the closed account, such as a wrong balance or a late payment that did not happen, you can dispute it under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. File directly with each bureau showing the error (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion), identify the specific inaccuracy, and include your closure confirmation and final zero-balance statement. The bureau has 30 days to investigate, and information that cannot be verified must be corrected or deleted.7Office of the Law Revision Counsel. 15 U.S. Code 1681i – Procedure in Case of Disputed Accuracy The process only fixes genuine errors; accurate negative marks stay.

Your Warranty Still Works After You Close
