To cancel an Eventbrite subscription, sign in as the Organization Owner, open Organization Settings, go to Plan Management, and select the option to cancel or switch your plan. Do it at least one day before your renewal date. Eventbrite does not refund unused subscription time, but you keep Pro features through the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for, after which your account moves to per-ticket pricing.
Who Can Cancel and Where to Look
Only the Organization Owner can change billing. Admins, Door Persons, and other roles won’t see the cancel option at all. Check your role in your organization’s team settings; if you’re not the owner, ask that person to cancel or have ownership transferred to you first.1Eventbrite Help Center. Manage Roles and Permissions
The cancellation control sits under Organization Settings, not Account Settings. Account Settings handles your personal profile and password. Organization Settings controls your plan, payment method, and billing history, and that’s where Plan Management lives.2Eventbrite Help Center. Manage Your Account and Organization Settings
Step by Step
Once you’re signed in as the Organization Owner:
- Open Organization Settings from your profile icon or the settings gear.
- Go to Plan Management. You’ll see your current Pro tier, billing cycle dates, and the payment method on file.
- Select the option to cancel or switch your plan. Eventbrite will show your alternatives, including the non-subscription per-ticket model.
- Confirm in the dialogue box. Nothing changes until you click through this final confirmation.
Watch for the on-screen success message. That’s your proof the cancellation registered. Any outstanding invoices are still due within 30 days of the invoice date regardless of cancellation.3Eventbrite Help Center. Timing and the No-Refund Rule
All subscription sales are final. Eventbrite’s Organizer Terms state you won’t receive a refund for any portion of the subscription fee already paid for the current period, and the same rule applies if you downgrade from one Pro tier to another.4Eventbrite Help Center. Organizer Terms
That makes timing the whole game. Cancel at least one day before your renewal date so you aren’t billed for the next cycle, but wait long enough that you get the full value of the period you already paid for. On an annual plan the stakes are larger: if you cancel eight months into a 12-month subscription, the remaining four months aren’t refunded, though you keep Pro access through the end of the 12 months.5Eventbrite Help Center. What Changes After Cancellation
Cancellation doesn’t shut anything off right away. Pro features stay active through the end of the billing period you’ve paid for. After that, your account moves to per-ticket pricing: Eventbrite charges a 3.7% plus $1.79 service fee on each paid ticket sold and a 2.9% payment processing fee on each order. Free events remain free to publish.6Eventbrite. Eventbrite Pricing and Features for Organizers
The functional change most organizers feel is email capacity. Pro tiers allow between 2,000 and 10,000 marketing emails per day. Without a Pro subscription, that drops to 250 per day, which can pinch around event launches if you lean on Eventbrite’s built-in email tools.5Eventbrite Help Center. Eventbrite’s Pricing and Plans
Your existing events stay live. Past attendee lists, order history, and financial reports remain in your dashboard as long as the account stays open.
Canceling Your Subscription Is Not the Same as Closing Your Account
Canceling Pro reverts you to per-ticket pricing and leaves everything else intact. You can keep creating and managing events without a subscription.
Closing your Eventbrite account is permanent and much broader. Past events you hosted and tickets you ordered become unavailable, and opening a new account later won’t restore that history.7Eventbrite Help Center. Download Tax Documents First
If you sold paid tickets during the calendar year, Eventbrite may issue a 1099-K. The current federal threshold requires third-party settlement organizations to file a 1099-K when gross payments exceed $20,000 and transactions exceed 200.9IRS. IRS Issues FAQs on Form 1099-K Threshold
Grab the forms before you stop thinking about the account. On a desktop browser (the mobile app doesn’t support this), go to Events, then Finance, then Settings, and select Taxpayer Info. Forms from 2020 onward are available there, and the most recent tax year’s forms appear by January 31 of the following year.10Eventbrite Help Center. Access and Download Your 1099-K Canceling the subscription doesn’t delete the account, so these remain accessible afterward, but downloading them now saves a return trip.
