How to Cancel Your DMV Genie Subscription and Get a Refund

To cancel a DMV Genie subscription, cancel through the platform that actually charges you — Apple, Google Play, PayPal, or the DMV Genie website — because deleting the app or canceling inside it usually does nothing to stop the billing.

Find Out Who Is Billing You

Pull up your bank or credit card statement and look at how the charge is labeled. Apple subscriptions appear as “apple.com/bill” or “itunes.com/bill.”1Apple Support. If You See an Apple Services Charge You Don’t Recognize on Your Statement Google Play charges usually carry “Google” in the merchant name. If neither matches, you probably signed up directly on the DMV Genie website with a credit card or PayPal.

That label tells you which set of steps below to follow. Using the wrong one leaves the subscription active.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

If you subscribed through the App Store, Apple controls the billing and deleting the app will not stop the charges.2Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

  • Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Find DMV Genie and tap it.
  • Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

If there’s no Cancel button, or you see a red expiration message, the subscription is already canceled. You keep premium access through the end of the period you paid for. Apple does not prorate remaining time.

Cancel on Android

Google Play subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them through your device or the Play Store, not through the DMV Genie app.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

  • Open your device’s Settings app.
  • Tap Google, then your name, then Manage your Google Account.
  • Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Manage subscriptions.
  • Select DMV Genie and tap Cancel subscription.

You can also get there through the Play Store app by tapping your profile icon and choosing Payments & subscriptions. Cancel at least 48 hours before the renewal date so the next charge doesn’t slip through. You keep access until the current billing period ends.3Google Play Help. Cancel Through PayPal

If you paid with PayPal on the DMV Genie website, the recurring charge is likely set up as an automatic payment inside your PayPal account.4PayPal. What Is an Automatic Payment and How Do I Update or Cancel One

  • Log in to PayPal and go to Settings.
  • Click Payments.
  • Select Subscriptions and saved businesses (or Automatic Payments).
  • Find DMV Genie, select it, and cancel the automatic payment.

Canceling here stops future charges at the source. It’s worth doing even after you’ve canceled on the website, since it removes the billing authorization from PayPal’s side.

Cancel on the DMV Genie Website

If you signed up directly on the DMV Genie site with a credit card, log in with the same email you used to register and go to your account settings or billing dashboard. The cancel option is sometimes tucked under billing details rather than shown prominently. After clicking cancel, confirm that the account shows an expiration date instead of a next renewal date.

If you can’t find a clear cancellation path, contact DMV Genie support. Under the FTC’s click-to-cancel rule, sellers are required to make canceling at least as easy as signing up.5Federal Trade Commission. Getting a Refund for a Charge That Already Hit

Canceling stops future billing. Recovering money already charged is a separate request, and it goes to whoever billed you.

Apple

Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose “Request a refund,” pick a reason, then select the DMV Genie charge.6Apple Support. Request a Refund for Apps or Content That You Bought From Apple Apple reviews each request and approval is not guaranteed. There’s no published deadline, but submitting soon after the charge helps.

Google Play

Google’s refund rules vary by purchase type, timing, and payment method. For unauthorized charges you have 120 days from the transaction to report it.7Google Play Help. Learn About Google Play Refund Policies For other requests, Google may send you to the developer. Start the request from your purchase history in the Google Play app.

Website or PayPal

Contact DMV Genie support to request a refund on a direct website purchase. If you paid through PayPal and the seller won’t cooperate, open a dispute through PayPal’s Resolution Center. Disputing the charge with your credit card issuer is a last resort, best kept for cases where the merchant ignores your cancellation or keeps charging you after you canceled.

If the Charges Won’t Stop

Two federal rules protect you if a company keeps billing after you’ve tried to cancel.

The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act requires online subscription services to give you a simple way to stop recurring charges.8Office of the Law Revision Counsel. United States Code Title 15 – 8403 The FTC reads this to mean the cancellation channel must be at least as easy as sign-up and available through the same channel. A two-click web signup can’t require a phone call to cancel.

If the charges come straight from your bank account, you can tell your bank or credit union to block the next transfer. Notify the institution at least three business days before the scheduled payment and it must stop the transfer.9eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.10 – Preauthorized Transfers The bank may ask for written confirmation within 14 days, but the oral stop-payment order takes effect right away.

After You Cancel

You should get a confirmation email from Apple, Google, or DMV Genie. Save it. If a charge shows up on your statement after your cancellation date, that email is your evidence for a dispute. You’ll keep premium features through the end of what you already paid for, and the app then reverts to its free tier.
