To cancel a CliffsNotes subscription, use the same channel that’s billing you: cancel in your account settings on the CliffsNotes website if you signed up there, through the App Store if you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, or through Google Play if you subscribed on Android. Find Out Where You’re Being Billed
Start with the receipt. Search your email for the original purchase confirmation. If Apple or Google sent it, that platform is handling your billing and is the only place you can stop the charges. No receipt? Check your card statement. Apple charges show up as “APPLE.COM/BILL.” Google Play charges appear as “GOOGLE*” followed by the app name. A charge from CliffsNotes or Course Hero points you to the website.

Log in to your account and open your account settings. The cancellation option is there. Cancel Through Apple
If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, Apple controls the billing. Deleting the CliffsNotes app will not stop the charges.

Cancel Through Google Play
Android users who subscribed through Google Play need to cancel there.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Tap Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select the CliffsNotes subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

If Self-Serve Cancellation Isn’t Working
When account settings won’t cooperate, CliffsNotes lets you cancel by contacting support.1CliffsNotes. Submit a Request Be specific: include the email tied to your account and state that you want to cancel your paid subscription and stop all future charges.
Can You Get a Refund?
CliffsNotes offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, but the conditions are narrow. You have to request the refund within 30 days of purchase, and you can only use the guarantee once. You also have to be under all of these usage limits:
- No more than five subscription unlocks used.
- No more than one subscription tutor question asked.
- If you’re on the Hero Trio plan that bundles QuillBot or Symbolab, no more than three days of use on either.

What Happens After You Cancel
Cancellation doesn’t cut off access immediately. You keep your subscription benefits through the end of the billing period you already paid for, and you won’t be charged again unless you resubscribe.8CliffsNotes. Your account data and saved progress stay in place if you decide to come back later.
Pausing Instead of Canceling
If you just need a break, CliffsNotes may let you pause the subscription instead. The option shows up in account settings when it’s available, but the company states it “may, at our sole discretion, offer you the option to pause your subscription,” so not every account gets it.1CliffsNotes.
