To cancel a ClickUp subscription, open your workspace settings, go to Billing, and click “Downgrade or Cancel plan.” Your workspace keeps its paid features until the billing period you’ve already paid for ends, then drops to the Free Forever plan automatically. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you’ll need to cancel through those platforms instead. And if this is your first paid plan, a 30-day refund window may apply.
Who Can Cancel
Only the workspace owner or an admin can manage billing, which includes canceling or downgrading a plan.1ClickUp Help. Intro to Billing If you’re a regular member, you’ll need someone with one of those roles to do it. An admin can see who the owner is inside the workspace settings.
Steps to Cancel on the Web
Click your workspace avatar in the upper-left corner and select Settings. In the sidebar, click Billing. That page shows your current plan and billing cycle.2ClickUp. Downgrade Your Plan
Click “Downgrade or Cancel plan.” ClickUp walks you through a short survey asking why you’re leaving and at least one confirmation prompt. Some of those screens highlight what you’ll lose, but you just need to click through them. After you confirm, you’ll see an on-screen notification that the cancellation went through. No further charges hit your card, and you don’t need to do anything else to stop payments.2ClickUp. Downgrade Your Plan
If You Subscribed Through Apple or Google Play
ClickUp’s own billing page won’t cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. Those are managed by the platform, not by ClickUp.
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Find ClickUp, tap it, and select Cancel Subscription.3Apple. See Your Purchases and Subscriptions in the App Store on iPhone
On Android, open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select ClickUp and cancel from there. Google recommends canceling at least 48 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next cycle.
Can You Get a Refund?
ClickUp offers a satisfaction guarantee, but it’s narrower than most people expect. You can get a full refund within 30 days of purchasing your first paid plan. The same 30-day window reopens if you upgrade to a higher tier or buy a new add-on. Cancel an upgrade inside that window and ClickUp reverts your account to the prior plan and refunds the price difference.4ClickUp. Terms of Service
The guarantee does not apply to renewals, subscriptions bought through a sales representative or reseller, or plans bought after a trial period.4ClickUp. Terms of Service Outside the 30 days, all fees are non-refundable. If you’re on an annual plan and cancel six months in, you won’t get the remaining months back in cash; the workspace stays active until the year runs out, then downgrades.
All paid plans auto-renew at the end of each billing cycle.5ClickUp Help. Intro to Pricing If you don’t want to renew, cancel well before the renewal date.
What Happens After You Cancel
Your workspace doesn’t disappear. It keeps running on the paid plan until the period you’ve paid for expires, then transitions to the Free Forever plan.2ClickUp. Downgrade Your Plan Your tasks, documents, and project structures stay intact. Premium features lock out, so advanced reporting, some integrations, and broader automation become unavailable.
Storage drops to 60MB across the entire workspace on the free plan.6ClickUp. ClickUp Pricing and Plans If your workspace already holds more than that in attachments, you won’t lose existing files, but you won’t be able to upload new ones until you’re under the limit or upgrade again.7ClickUp Help. Export Data and Invoices Before You Cancel
Some export options are only available on paid plans, so pull your data out while you still have access.8ClickUp Help. How Do I Export My Workspace’s Data? Tasks export from Spaces, Folders, or Lists as CSV, including time estimates, comments, and attachment links. Docs export as PDF, HTML, or Markdown. List and Table view exports and dashboard card exports require the Business plan or higher. Whiteboards export as images or PDF, and Form responses export as CSV. Attachments can be downloaded individually or as a zip from a task.
Grab your invoices too. After a downgrade, the billing page on a free workspace won’t display your old paid-plan invoices, and getting copies means contacting ClickUp support, which only owners and admins can do.9ClickUp Help. Manage Invoices
Canceling Is Not the Same as Deleting
Canceling stops future charges and drops you to the free tier. Deleting a workspace permanently removes it and everything inside. To delete, the owner types the exact workspace name into a confirmation field, a manual step meant to prevent accidents.10ClickUp Help. Delete a Workspace Deletion is irreversible. Most people ending a subscription don’t need to take that step; the free plan lets you keep everything in place in case you come back.
