To cancel your Alinea subscription, use the same channel you signed up through: the Apple App Store if you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, Google Play if you subscribed on Android, or Alinea directly through the app, email, or in-app chat if you signed up on Alinea’s own platform. The membership costs $120 per year, Alinea does not refund unused time, and access continues through the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for. Picking the wrong channel is the most common reason people keep getting charged after they think they’ve canceled.
Check Where You Subscribed First
Before you tap anything, figure out who is actually billing you. Look at the original subscription confirmation email, or check your bank or credit card statement to see whether the charge posts from Alinea, Apple, or Google. If Apple or Google is processing the payment, canceling inside the Alinea app does nothing. Deleting the app doesn’t stop the billing either. The recurring charge runs until you turn it off in the store where you subscribed.
Canceling Through the Apple App Store
If the charge comes from Apple, cancel in your device settings:
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions, then find Alinea in the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may have to scroll to see the button.

Canceling Through Google Play
If Google processes the charge, go to your Google Play subscription settings:
- Visit play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions in a browser, or open the Google Play app and go to Payments & subscriptions.
- Select Alinea from your active subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

Canceling Directly Through Alinea
If you signed up on Alinea’s own platform and the charge posts from Alinea rather than an app store, you have two ways to cancel. Inside the app, open your profile and look for the settings or subscription section, then follow the prompts to end your membership. Menu labels shift with app updates, so look for anything referencing your plan, membership, or billing.

Refunds and What You Keep Until the Term Ends
Alinea does not refund unused time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing term, not the day you submit the request. Until that date you keep full access to your portfolios, advisor reviews, and platform tools. After it, the account reverts to a free or limited tier.
Canceling the Subscription Is Not the Same as Closing Your Brokerage Account
Ending the subscription stops the recurring fee and removes access to Alinea’s premium tools. Your underlying brokerage account, held through Alinea’s clearing partner DriveWealth, stays open with your securities in it. If stopping the fee is all you wanted, you’re finished once the billing stops.
To close the brokerage account itself, you have to notify Alinea separately in writing. Either party can terminate the advisory agreement at any time by written communication. Once Alinea receives the notice, they inform DriveWealth that the advisory relationship has ended and stop managing the portfolio.4Alinea. If that applies to you, talk to a tax professional before you liquidate.
Confirm the Cancellation Actually Stuck
Whichever route you used, watch for a confirmation email within a day or two. If it doesn’t arrive, follow up right away. Check your next bank or card statement for any new charge. If one posts after the confirmation date, you have grounds to dispute it with your bank or the app store that processed the payment. Your Alinea billing section should also show the cancellation, though remember that’s a separate status from a closed brokerage account.
