How to Cancel Your Adobe AI Assistant Subscription

To cancel Adobe AI Assistant, sign in at account.adobe.com, open your plans, and cancel the AI Assistant add-on directly. If you subscribed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, you have to cancel through that platform instead — Adobe cannot process it for you. Timing is the thing to watch: cancel within 14 days of signup for a full refund, or Adobe will charge 50% of the remaining balance on an annual plan.

Cancel Through Your Adobe Account

Sign into account.adobe.com with the email you used at purchase. In the dashboard, open “Plans and payment” or “Manage plan.” Every active subscription and add-on tied to the account is listed there, and AI Assistant appears as its own line item, separate from your base Acrobat or Reader plan.

Select “Manage plan” next to the AI Assistant entry, then click “Cancel your plan.” Adobe will run you through several confirmation screens asking why you’re leaving and offering alternatives like a discounted rate or plan downgrade. Click through all of them to reach the final confirmation page. Adobe should then email a confirmation to the address on file. Keep that email. It’s your proof of the cancellation date if a charge shows up later.

Canceling AI Assistant does not cancel your underlying Acrobat or Reader subscription. The two are billed separately, and removing the add-on leaves the base plan running.

Cancel Through Apple’s App Store

If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, Apple controls the billing and you have to cancel there. Open Settings, tap your name, then tap “Subscriptions.” Find Adobe AI Assistant, tap it, and select “Cancel Subscription.” You may need to scroll down to see the button. A red expiration date instead of a cancel option means the subscription is already set to end.1Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription From Apple

Cancel Through Google Play

Android subscribers who bought through Google Play cancel inside that platform, not through Adobe. Open Settings, tap Google, tap your name, and select “Manage your Google Account.” Go to “Payments & subscriptions,” then “Manage subscriptions.” Find Adobe AI Assistant, tap “Cancel subscription,” and follow the prompts.2Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

Apple and Google process cancellations on their own timelines, and it can take a few hours to show up in Adobe’s system. If AI Assistant features don’t disappear at the end of the billing period, wait a day before contacting support.

When the Cancel Button Is Missing

You log in, open your plans, and the cancel button isn’t there. It happens often enough that Adobe’s community forums are full of the same complaint. A few things cause it. You might be signed into a different Adobe ID than the one holding the subscription. Or the plan was purchased through an app store, in which case the cancel option only appears on that platform.

If you’re in the right account and still can’t find the button, contact Adobe support through chat. Go to helpx.adobe.com/contact.html, select “Account Issues,” then “Cancel my membership,” and click “Show me my contact options” to open a chat window. Typing “AGENT” in the chat field connects you to a live representative instead of the automated assistant.

Refund Window and Early Termination Fee

Adobe’s refund terms depend on when you cancel and which billing plan you chose.3Adobe. Adobe Subscription and Cancellation Terms

  • Within 14 days of your initial order, you get a full refund on either a monthly or annual plan.
  • On a monthly plan after 14 days, there’s no refund for the current period, but service continues to the end of the month. No additional fee, because there’s no long-term commitment.
  • On an annual plan billed monthly, after 14 days, Adobe charges an early termination fee equal to 50% of the remaining contract balance. Cancel nine months into a twelve-month plan and you pay half of the final three months.

The early termination fee is what catches people off guard. On a $4.99/month AI Assistant annual plan with six months left, walking away costs roughly $15. The same 50% penalty applies to bundled Creative Cloud annual plans, where the remaining balance can be hundreds of dollars. Check whether you signed up month-to-month or on an annual commitment before canceling.4Adobe. Adobe Subscription Terms

Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google follow those platforms’ refund policies, not Adobe’s. Refund requests go through Apple or Google support, and each has its own review process.

What Happens After You Cancel

AI Assistant features stay available until the end of the current billing period. Once that date passes, the conversational AI panel, generative summaries, and document Q&A tools disappear from Acrobat and Reader. Your PDFs are unaffected. You don’t lose any documents; only the AI-powered features stop working.

Adobe also reduces your cloud storage allowance to 5 GB once a paid plan ends, with 30 days to download or delete files if you’re over that limit. If AI Assistant was your only paid add-on and you don’t have a separate Acrobat subscription, back up anything in Adobe’s cloud locally before your access changes.

Teams and Enterprise Accounts

If your organization provided AI Assistant through a business plan, you can’t cancel it yourself. Business profiles are controlled by your organization’s IT administrator through the Adobe Admin Console.5Adobe Help Center. Manage Adobe Profiles As of early 2025, the Admin Console does not offer a simple toggle to disable AI Assistant across an organization; Adobe’s recommended path is for the administrator to open a support case through the Admin Console and request the change from Adobe Customer Care.

Enterprise and teams contracts often have different cancellation windows and notice requirements than individual plans. If your organization signed a custom agreement, check that contract’s terms before assuming the standard 14-day refund policy applies.
