How to Cancel Southern Living Magazine: Online, Phone, or App Store

To cancel a Southern Living magazine subscription, log in to the subscriber portal at southernliving.com/renewtoday, call customer service at 800-272-4101, or turn off auto-renewal in the Apple App Store or Google Play if you subscribed through a mobile device. The right route depends on how you signed up in the first place, so check your original order confirmation before you start.

What You Need Before You Start

The quickest identifier is your account number, printed on your magazine’s mailing label just above your name. If you don’t have a recent issue, the subscriber portal at southernliving.com/renewtoday lets you log in three ways: account number and ZIP code, last name and account number, or full name and mailing address.1Southern Living. Cancel a Digital Subscription in the App Store

Southern Living’s own customer service cannot cancel a subscription you bought through Apple or Google. The app store owns the billing relationship, and you have to turn off auto-renewal there.

iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Apple’s listing for Southern Living states the subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and Apple does not issue partial-period refunds.4Apple App Store. Southern Living Magazine

On iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find Southern Living, and tap Cancel Subscription. On a Mac: open the App Store, click your name, open Account Settings, scroll to Subscriptions, click Manage, and cancel from there.5Apple Support. If You Want to Cancel a Subscription from Apple If there’s no Cancel button and you see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already set to end.

Android

Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, go to Payments and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select Southern Living, and tap Cancel. The same 24-hour-before-renewal window generally applies.

Gift Subscriptions

A gift subscription is usually managed under the purchaser’s account, not the recipient’s. If you received the magazine as a gift, the person who bought it may need to contact customer service, or at minimum provide the account details. If you’re the recipient and just want the deliveries to stop, calling 800-272-4101 and explaining the situation is your best route.3Southern Living. About Southern Living Any refund would go back to the original purchaser’s payment method.

Subscriptions Bought Through a Third-Party Site

If you signed up through a reseller such as DiscountMags or Magazines.com, you may need to cancel through that site rather than through Southern Living. Check whether your order confirmation came from Southern Living itself or from the reseller, then log in to that account. The two billing systems don’t always talk to each other, so if you’re unsure, cancel with both.

What Happens After You Cancel

Expect one more issue. Watch your card or bank statement through the next billing cycle. If you canceled specifically to head off an auto-renewal charge, verify nothing new posts on the expected renewal date. Catching a wrong charge within 60 days puts you in the strongest position to dispute it.

Refunds for Unused Issues

If you paid for a year upfront and cancel partway through, you may be entitled to a pro-rated refund for undelivered issues. Ask the representative or check the confirmation screen for the specific amount and the return method. Southern Living’s public cancellation pages don’t spell out refund timelines, so ask directly when you cancel and write down what you’re told.

If the Charges Don’t Stop

If billing continues after a clean cancellation, you have two options. First, file a chargeback dispute with your card issuer, either through your card’s online portal or the number on the back of the card, and follow up in writing at the address the issuer lists for billing disputes.6Federal Trade Commission.
