To cancel Showtime on Paramount Plus, you now either downgrade from Paramount+ Premium to Paramount+ Essential or cancel Paramount+ altogether, because Showtime is no longer sold as a separate add-on. In June 2025, Paramount renamed “Paramount+ with Showtime” to “Paramount+ Premium” and folded all Showtime originals, live linear feeds, and the Showtime library into that single top tier. Which button you click depends entirely on where you first signed up.
What Downgrading Actually Costs You
Paramount+ Premium runs $13.99 per month and Essential runs $8.99, so dropping down saves $5 a month. You give up more than Showtime, though. Premium also includes ad-free on-demand viewing, a live CBS local station stream, 4K and Dolby Vision on select titles, and offline downloads.1Paramount+. If you rarely watch Showtime originals and don’t mind ads, downgrading is the cleaner move. If ad-free viewing or downloads were the real reason you paid for Premium, canceling entirely may make more sense than paying anything at all.
Find Out Who Bills You First
Before changing any settings, confirm who actually charges your card. If you signed up at paramountplus.com, Paramount bills you directly and you handle everything on their site. If you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku, or a cable or satellite provider, that company controls the payment and you have to cancel with them. The Paramount+ website cannot cancel a subscription billed by a third party.
Check your credit card statement — the charge description usually names the billing company. If Paramount Bills You Directly
Sign in at paramountplus.com, click your profile icon in the upper-right corner, and open your account settings. From there, find your current plan and the option to change or cancel it. One catch: Paramount’s own help page has said you may not be able to switch plans directly, and instead have to cancel Premium and then sign up for Essential as a new subscription.3Paramount+. To cancel outright, use the cancellation option in the same account area. No refund is issued for the remaining days in your billing cycle, but your access continues until that cycle ends.4Paramount+. How Do I Cancel My Subscription
If You Subscribed Through Apple

- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.

Apple doesn’t automatically refund unused subscription time. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, select “Request a refund,” pick a reason, and submit. If You Subscribed Through Amazon

- Go to Your Memberships and Subscriptions in your Amazon account.
- Find the Paramount+ entry.

If You Subscribed Through Roku

If You Subscribed Through Google Play
Android subscribers cancel through Google, not the Paramount+ app.
- Open the Google Play app.
- Go to your subscriptions, or open Settings, tap Google, then Manage your Google Account, then Payments & subscriptions.

If Your Subscription Is Bundled With a TV Provider
If Paramount+ comes through a cable, satellite, or internet provider bundle, none of the steps above will work. Those subscriptions are managed by the provider, so contact their customer service or sign in to your account with that company to drop the Premium tier or remove Paramount+ from your package.
What Happens After You Cancel
However you cancel, Premium content stays available until your current billing period ends. Your account dashboard shows the expiration date. If you downgraded to Essential, some Showtime titles will still show up in that library, since Paramount has been rotating select Showtime shows into the lower tier since the 2025 rebrand. The full catalog and live feeds are gone. Resubscribing to Premium later restores everything, including watch progress and favorites tied to your account.
