How to Cancel RuneScape Membership on Any Platform

To cancel a RuneScape membership, go to whichever platform originally took your payment: Jagex, Apple, Google, Steam, Amazon, PayPal, or another processor. Jagex cannot stop a charge that a third party is collecting, so the billing source decides the route. Once you cancel, your membership keeps running until the paid period ends.

Find Out Who’s Charging You

Look at your bank or card statement for the merchant name on the recurring charge. It will show as Jagex, Apple, Google, Steam, Amazon, or another processor. That name tells you which platform to open. If you subscribed years ago and don’t remember signing up, the statement is the fastest way to find out.

Have the right login ready before you start. For a Jagex account, that’s the email tied to the account, or, for older accounts that were never migrated, the legacy RuneScape username. For Apple, Google, Steam, or Amazon, you need the storefront login you used when you first subscribed, not your RuneScape credentials.

Canceling Through Jagex

If Jagex bills you directly, the path depends on whether your character sits on the newer Jagex account system or the legacy RuneScape login.

Jagex Account

Log in to Jagex Account Management and open the Subscriptions tab. You’ll see active and expired subscriptions listed. Click Manage next to the character you want to cancel and follow the prompts to stop the recurring charge.1Jagex Support. Managing Subscriptions

Legacy RuneScape Account

If you haven’t migrated, go to your Account Settings page and choose “Log in with RuneScape username” at the bottom. Enter your username or email, then view your subscription status and cancel from there.1Jagex Support. Managing Subscriptions

Canceling on iPhone or iPad

App Store subscriptions are billed by Apple, and Jagex cannot stop them.1Jagex Support. Managing Subscriptions Open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find RuneScape in the list, tap it, and tap Cancel Subscription. If there’s no cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red, it’s already canceled.2Apple Support. Canceling on Android

Google Play works the same way: Google collects the payment, and Jagex can’t intervene. Open the Google Play app, go to Subscriptions, select RuneScape, and tap Cancel Subscription. Access continues through the time you’ve already paid for, and Google won’t charge for the next cycle.3Google Play Help. Cancel, Pause, or Change a Subscription on Google Play

Canceling Through Steam

Open your Account Details page in the Steam client or browser, find your active subscriptions, and cancel the RuneScape plan. The subscription stays active until the paid period expires.4Steam Support. Recurring Subscriptions

Canceling Through Amazon

From your Amazon account menu, open “Your Memberships and Subscriptions.” Find the RuneScape entry, select Manage Subscription, and switch off auto-renew before the next renewal date.5Amazon. Manage Your Amazon Subscriptions

Other Payment Methods

A few less common billing channels have their own routes:

  • Boku (SMS billing): reply STOP or CANCEL to the text message that confirmed your purchase.
  • BoaCompra/PagSeguro: manage the subscription through the PagSeguro international portal.
  • PayPal: cancel the automatic payment from your PayPal account settings. You don’t need to log in to RuneScape at all.

Jagex’s support page links each of these directly.1Jagex Support. Managing Subscriptions

If You Can’t Log In to RuneScape

Being locked out doesn’t trap you into paying. For Apple, Google, Steam, or Amazon subscriptions, your RuneScape login isn’t involved at all: cancel through the storefront using the steps above. PayPal subscribers can shut off the payment from PayPal directly. If Jagex bills you directly and you can’t access your character, use the “Talk to us” option at the bottom of the Jagex support page.1Jagex Support. Managing Subscriptions

What Happens After You Cancel

Canceling stops future charges. It doesn’t cut off access. You keep full membership benefits through the end of the billing period you last paid for.6Jagex. Subscription Terms and Conditions Your account status page should now show a fixed end date instead of a renewal date.

When the paid time runs out, the account drops to free-to-play. Nothing is deleted. Members-only items stay in your bank as generic “members object” placeholders until you resubscribe. Members-only skills keep their levels but can’t be trained or used in free-to-play. If you last logged out in a members-only area, you’ll appear in Lumbridge on your next login. Bank space shrinks to the free-to-play limit, though any excess items remain stored and inaccessible until membership returns.

Can You Get a Refund?

Canceling doesn’t refund what you’ve already paid. Jagex reviews refund requests only for purchases made directly through Jagex within the past six months, and only if none of the membership time has been used. Each request is handled at Jagex’s discretion on a case-by-case basis.7Jagex Support. Refunds

For third-party purchases through Apple, Google, or Steam, Jagex won’t process a refund at all. Request it through that platform’s own refund system. SMS purchases through Boku are non-refundable.7Jagex Support. Refunds Direct Jagex refund requests go through the support form under the Refunds help article, and the six-month window runs from the purchase date, so acting sooner improves your odds.
